I can say with my i5-8600K RX480 playing 4:3 1280x1024 with everything on low except shadows high and MSAAx2, I am getting 140-220 FPS in real games depending how much action there is. I am now considering a new GPU, but apart from an old video Gamers Nexus did, its hard to find good benchmarks, because the game have seen a number of updates since the Gamers Nexus video.

If you think that's bad, I started playing CSGO on an old GeForce 7800 GT & Intel Core 2 Duo 6400. It would drop into single digit stutters when nades went off scattering weapons with physics calculations. The cheapest imaginable upgrade was a blessing at the time.

For another type of benchmarking, sort of; in my experience the CS GO bots tend to use the same routes in the first rounds of CS. Maybe it's just my imagination but you could try this for yourself. CS 2 is sadly out of my mere mortal grasp at the moment, so I'm not familiar with the bots there.
Anyways, always a pleasure seeing your videos, cheers!

So, the question of "do CS2 run better than CSGO on lower hardware ?" remain, I was expecting an answer to this question, we all know how it's important to have 300+ fps on CSGO, but that's mainly because of the spaghetti code from CSGO 10+ years after, it's unconsistant so we NEED that headroom to, as you say, buffer problematic scenarios.
You tested a 680, I do know from experience that a 770 is 300+ fps or 200-250fps on newer maps, BUT, the smokes are actually killing the FPS so bad when you are in one, this is changing the game now with CS2, as we don't know how it run on such scenario with old graphic cards.
CS2 run with lower FPS, but it might actually runs better than CSGO on 200fps, on par with other games that don't run like dogshit like CSGO do when you are around 100-140fps.
So far I think no one answered that yet :/, I dont need it, I have a 3070 now, but I know a lot of people do want to know that, that would be cool to test the feeling (stutters, low %1 as you tested, performances with explosions, smokes etc.) rather than just the FPS.

Bro has an i9 13900k and 64GB DDR5. Definitely has an effect on things - even a 680 is kind of beasting. Lower resolution=more CPU=more FPS with this setup. Higher resolution+graphics=more GPU dependant.

I'm suprised the new source 2 engine runs so well. Most titles that run on current modern engines run like shit I can see some good programmers made this engine. I guess because its previous purpose was to run VR games, it had to have been so well optimized to be able to have games that look great but also be playable at 120fps 4k resolutions on vr headsets. This engine has so much potential, because it is very modern, They utilize the latest technology and optimizations techniques, unlike other engines which are built on a very old base and are flooded with unnessesary crap.
