I had a friend that used to say that nobody is playing cs at 1080p anyway. Sadly, he passed this year and i think this statement passed together with him as he never saw CS2 :/

I can say with my i5-8600K RX480 playing 4:3 1280x1024 with everything on low except shadows high and MSAAx2, I am getting 140-220 FPS in real games depending how much action there is. I am now considering a new GPU, but apart from an old video Gamers Nexus did, its hard to find good benchmarks, because the game have seen a number of updates since the Gamers Nexus video.

I really hope you will also make a "CS2 vs older CPUs" because as a i5 6600 user with radeon r9 380x I am really wondering if a GPU upgrade would be enough in order to get higher fps.

Still rocking the vega 56 I got for 200€ in 2019 and its still pretty good even in more demanding games. Unfortunately there are still no better cards at this price point. Mine does not have coil whine that bad, but the blower fan itself is quite loud, so if you get a used one I would also recommend one with normal fans. Also try undervolting it, as that can give about 10% performance increase at the same power.

Yep, Vega 56 is still holding strong to this day! I am looking to upgrade, but it's still good enough to where i keep looking at it and thinking "I'll just wait to see what comes out next gen, i'm in no rush". Tho, assuming AMD doesn't completely screw up with the RX7700/RX7800, it'll probably be replaced soon. The coil-whine will be missed :(

My pc works fine right now for csgo (i7-4790 @3.6Ghz, GTX 980 and 12gb of ram) been "stuck" on this system for years now as its the newest gpu my mobo will allow, and i've had many other more urgent spendings to have had to spend my money on. As a student, now graduate and just started working, I didn't have a lot of money to just upgrade my system. Especially since my system worked perfectly fine handling game editors like UE4, 5 and other 3D software that can get quite heavy like houdini. Now I agree with you that you shouldn't expect old systems/cards to work just as well on cs2, but some people are just not in a situation to have the mindset of "it's time to upgrade". It's different for everyone

@@3kliksphilip Weird it just disappeared again, but this time i copied it before i sent so here you go again: Weird, I tried twice and twice my comment was gone the next day... Roughly what I said was that I made an error, it was supposed to say that my mobo can't handle a newer cpu, but I also checked the mobo compatabilities with graphics cards and the only ones I would be able to upgrade to are 1060 Ti, 1070/80 or some of the Titan cards (checked through the official MSI website by searching the mobo and then going through compatability, I'll refrain from sending a link again because I guess that's why it got deleted? But my mobo is B85M-E43 DASH so you can check it under support>compatability>vga). However, I actually very much doubt that they would work in reality as my current card is almost too big for the mobo as it's blocking the locks from the ram ports in place already and I'm guessing the other cards are bigger seeing as they're newer. So yeah, just holding on to my good ol' pc, hoping it will survive while i save up now that I'm earning money :D

@@3kliksphilip Oh ok fair enough! And yeah indeed my case is quite small and it barely fits my gpu, but I actually also do mean the graphics card itself is locking my ram slots/locks in place. If I want to add/remove ram, i need to first take out my gpu

Lately I got back into modded Skyrim, it's really hard to find modpacks that have great graphics at low cost on performance AND contain a lot of awesome custom content. Licentia is barely playable on my laptop's gtx1060, i found septimus which looks great at low performance cost (i stay mostly 35+ fps) but I dislike simonrim. Would be cool to see you compare Skyrim's popular wabbajack modpacks across many GPUs and assess what you find causes more lag overall because it appears most modpack makers are limited in the testing they can do to their own computer's specs and I personally keep finding lists that lag a ton when they could take a quarter of the computing power, but modders with a beefy computer can't just tell one mod at a time unless they swapped pc every time they release an update. Would be fun to see you compare stuff like vram speed vs vram size vs ram vs pagefile vs extra textures vs higher res textures vs extra meshes vs remeshes vs enb vs shader vs weather vs lighting vs followers vs new quests, new areas, new animations etc, etc, etc.

my r9 fury nano card recently started dying, crashing often, so i replaced it temporarily with a 2gb gtx 960 and i am honestly very surprised with how well this old old card preforms in csgo at 1440p. i lowered the anti aliasing a bit and i get framerates i am very happy with.
especially great since i paid a whopping 10 euros for it, with it listed as "non working" but i have never had a single issue with it.
now let's hope i find a 2060 super or something like that listed for a good price used before cs2 launches

I'm suprised the new source 2 engine runs so well. Most titles that run on current modern engines run like shit I can see some good programmers made this engine. I guess because its previous purpose was to run VR games, it had to have been so well optimized to be able to have games that look great but also be playable at 120fps 4k resolutions on vr headsets. This engine has so much potential, because it is very modern, They utilize the latest technology and optimizations techniques, unlike other engines which are built on a very old base and are flooded with unnessesary crap.
