It was actually a smart move to release Mother Tongue as a single. If you take a look at the charts, Medicine did better than Mantra and Wonderful Life. Because you know, pop rock. BMTH is trying to sell this record to newer fans after all. So releasing another pop rock song will bring them more attention than releasing another alt-rock song, because the old fans won't buy the record anyway, so what's the point.

I’m really looking forward to being able to hear the whole album so I can form my final opinion. Personally, I don’t dislike the pop direction, but it definitely is different. Honestly I’m just happy he’s not trying to murder his vocal cords anymore, but somehow keeping the band together. I’m seeing them live in Nashville tomorrow night and I’m curious to see if they play mother tongue / medicine and add more guitar / drums for the live version. I hope they do that to keep the feeling of actual instruments alive. I could update this and let y’all know if they made it sound more legit live if anyone’s interested?? Honestly, I was one of those fans who came with AMO, and now, Sempiternal is probably my fave, slowly getting into the HEAVY heavy stuff, but im so thankfull for AMO bringing me to BMTH. Mantra used to be the HEAVIEST shit for me, haha, now im blasting chealsie smile :D Kinda ironic, however all these songs mean the world to me, and this one, since it is about his current wife and one of my fave people ever, Alissa, even gets me emotional. But honestly I udnerstand why other fans who have been there since the beggining or maybe like the sempiternal do not like this for sure.

Ok , i think now we all got it. They are far away from Sempiternal or older Records but Change is human. The most important thing i think is that i fell in love with them in my Teenage Years because of their Lyrics , i never found another Band just like them. I think their amazing thoughtful Lyrics with all the unforgettable Quotes were always pure , hard but deep. That's what made them iconic i think. ikr? been listening to their debut album and new singles nonstop since i found them. now everyone dont get me wrong i love bmth, literally the band that introduced me to extreme metal genres, all they have done till that's the spirit is super good but medicine and this new song are a big no.
I like it. After doing years of metal, it probably got to them and wanted to try something out for a change. i'm in a band and for more than 10 years, we were heavily influenced by emo, punk, pop rock. As the songwriter, I want to take a different direction.

Might take a day or so to figure it out but a beginner wouldn't be able to with all of the bends and dissonance on the lower strings right away. This isn't a song full of just basic power chords. I suppose this is their Happy Song on the album so I'm not necessarily saying it's that complex but it's the most fun song to play unless you just want the basic stuff. Mantra, Medicine, Sleepwalking, True Friends, hell I can only imagine a major portion of their last album is all way more simple to play than Wonderful Life.

Would love to see you react to the rest of the album. I heard "heavy metal" has an interesting surprise towards the end for fans of their older sound. "nihilist blues" also sounds very interesting from what they've put out with the teaser.
Okay so, I think ik why they released this song. The name of the album is Amo right? This song is p much the "explanation" of the name. As a brazilian I already guessed that the name of the album was a reference to the verb amor, love, in portuguese (te amo = love you). It's common for artists to release the song referring or related to the album's title as a single for better marketing. It's just my guess and I could be wrong lol

I will say unpopular opinion right now but I enjoyed this. I mostly listen to metal and sometimes it's ok for me to listen to this sort of a song. And if it sounds like a boyband I am fine with it until it got such awesome ambience and catchy chorus.
Everybody tells sempiternal was best, imo there is a hell was deeper and i enjoyed that more, sempiternal have too many slow emotional tracks hospital for souls, deathbeds, and the snakes start to sing, can yoy fell my heart, yeah its climatic and nice, dont get me wrong sempiternal is awesome job, but there is a hell is a masterpiece, emotional in aggressivness and dont need 4 tracks to make really emotional deep climat, memorial is trail to your own soul. Edit just compare intro of crucify me and shadow moses, both are good but crucify me imo wins, let me know what you think about it in comments guys
Stylistically I love the music and direction, Jordan's production is brilliant and they have some really great sounds. I think what would improve it is the structure, they've gone for really basic pop structure to the songs and I think if they made it more alternative that way the songs would sound less boring to repeatedly listen and have more longevity.

I understand where you're coming from. I hope that Amo has some more heavy stuff on it. But the context of this song is that it's a love song. In the chorus, He's basically saying, everything you do for me is more than enough. It's such a happy song with such positive emotions, whereas Medicine talks about toxicity. So that's the contrast. They're both pop songs for sure. I really want some heavy stuff. But I relate to both songs and I appreciate them both so much. Amo in spanish is love. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what to look for when and if you give this song another listen.
Being a metalhead doesn't mean that you can only like metal. I'm a metalhead and enjoy plenty of other stuff (Medicine, PATD, Gunship, NWA etc). If you mean that they listened to this and then said they're a metal head because of it then I get where you're coming from.
The one thing I have to say is that Oli's vocals have improved sooooooooo much since 2014-2015(He was struggling with Drown live) and now he's able to sing all of these songs with little effort. Despite it being more on the Pop side of Rock it still sounds good and really is that all we wanted?

Ok , i think now we all got it. They are far away from Sempiternal or older Records but Change is human. The most important thing i think is that i fell in love with them in my Teenage Years because of their Lyrics , i never found another Band just like them. I think their amazing thoughtful Lyrics with all the unforgettable Quotes were always pure , hard but deep. That's what made them iconic i think. And as long as they continue writing brilliant stuff, i will stick with them forever..even if i have to get used to the new sound.

I like it. After doing years of metal, it probably got to them and wanted to try something out for a change. i'm in a band and for more than 10 years, we were heavily influenced by emo, punk, pop rock. As the songwriter, I want to take a different direction.

@@KeevSykes I wouldn't say it's that simple just by listening to it. Might take a day or so to figure it out but a beginner wouldn't be able to with all of the bends and dissonance on the lower strings right away. This isn't a song full of just basic power chords. I suppose this is their Happy Song on the album so I'm not necessarily saying it's that complex but it's the most fun song to play unless you just want the basic stuff. Mantra, Medicine, Sleepwalking, True Friends, hell I can only imagine a major portion of their last album is all way more simple to play than Wonderful Life.

I honestly love this band to death, their discography has ranged from Deathcore/metalcore to a more poppy rock which I also like. I've followed this band since Suicide Season (though I own Count Your Blessings as well) but I really can't wait for Amo!!

Would love to see you react to the rest of the album. I heard "heavy metal" has an interesting surprise towards the end for fans of their older sound. "nihilist blues" also sounds very interesting from what they've put out with the teaser.

Okay so, I think ik why they released this song. The name of the album is Amo right? This song is p much the "explanation" of the name. As a brazilian I already guessed that the name of the album was a reference to the verb amor, love, in portuguese (te amo = love you). It's common for artists to release the song referring or related to the album's title as a single for better marketing. It's just my guess and I could be wrong lol

I will say unpopular opinion right now but I enjoyed this. I mostly listen to metal and sometimes it's ok for me to listen to this sort of a song. And if it sounds like a boyband I am fine with it until it got such awesome ambience and catchy chorus.

Everybody tells sempiternal was best, imo there is a hell was deeper and i enjoyed that more, sempiternal have too many slow emotional tracks hospital for souls, deathbeds, and the snakes start to sing, can yoy fell my heart, yeah its climatic and nice, dont get me wrong sempiternal is awesome job, but there is a hell is a masterpiece, emotional in aggressivness and dont need 4 tracks to make really emotional deep climat, memorial is trail to your own soul. Edit just compare intro of crucify me and shadow moses, both are good but crucify me imo wins, let me know what you think about it in comments guys

Stylistically I love the music and direction, Jordan's production is brilliant and they have some really great sounds. I think what would improve it is the structure, they've gone for really basic pop structure to the songs and I think if they made it more alternative that way the songs would sound less boring to repeatedly listen and have more longevity.
Its not metal but its still enjoyable to me, everyone is hating on this band so much but for god sake let them experiment how they want!

The fans that got them where they are today can voice their opinions as much as they want. Their alienating a big number of their fans producing this shit.
I understand where you're coming from. I hope that Amo has some more heavy stuff on it. But the context of this song is that it's a love song. In the chorus, He's basically saying, everything you do for me is more than enough. It's such a happy song with such positive emotions, whereas Medicine talks about toxicity. So that's the contrast. They're both pop songs for sure. I really want some heavy stuff. But I relate to both songs and I appreciate them both so much. Amo in spanish is love. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what to look for when and if you give this song another listen.

Being a metalhead doesn't mean that you can only like metal. I'm a metalhead and enjoy plenty of other stuff (Medicine, PATD, Gunship, NWA etc). If you mean that they listened to this and then said they're a metal head because of it then I get where you're coming from.

The one thing I have to say is that Oli's vocals have improved sooooooooo much since 2014-2015(He was struggling with Drown live) and now he's able to sing all of these songs with little effort. Despite it being more on the Pop side of Rock it still sounds good and really is that all we wanted?
I also get Oh No (TTS song for all of you old fans) vibes. Which isn't a *bad* thing as Oli sounded good in it.
