    I will always love the Model X. It is like you getting familiar with your Model 3. Wild to see how many on the road then vs now.

    Damn, Tesla community is the best. Some people complain about charging time, but beside that, you meet great people at Supershargers, you having a lot of discussions, and with this "feature", time flies ;) Too bad i'm 16 and don't own a Tesla (and where i live : 0 Superchargers)

    Hey Bjorn, great video as always. Not sure if you know, but using plain old soap, water and a gentle scrub with dryer sheets (Bounce, Downy, etc) removes bugs nicely off the paint.

  • @ant_ramos
    @ant_ramos 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Bjorn, get a product to help you remove the insects from your car.
    Apply it, wait for 5 minutes (more or less) and then wash the car.
    If you can't wash it, use a microfibre towel to remove the bugs to prevent scratches in the paint.

    I spotted my first Tesla X while on holiday in L.A at around the time Bjorn was over there last march. Haven't yet seen one over here in the UK, there is a lack if supercharges over here and the roads are overcrowded.

  • @matyasm
    @matyasm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bjorn, tackling the insect issue: there is actually an active spray you can buy at gas stations. It is usually used before the carwash to let go the remains of the insect. It should help.

    holy shiiieeeett so many freaking bugs... huummm Optimus Prime is the Bug catcher hahaha, I usually use the windshield clean product to clean the bugs / insects that are glued to the bumper and front glass I lay or spray ( plenty product) in the affected areas and let the product act for about 15 to 20 minutes and often use water to help moisten the freaking bugs abd then with a wet cloth I remove easily without damaging the paint.

  • @Planem0
    @Planem0 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bjørn you should definitively check the PPF (Paint Protection Film) for Optimus. That will help keeping its paint nice and protected from bugs and even small scratches during your amusing road trips.

    Another great vid Bjorn! Looking forward to your test results with smaller wheels. Looks like the Millenium Falcon was much better in the storage & sleeping department than Model X. Hope Elon swallows a bit of his pride and offers Model X with folding middle row seats in the future, classic example of placing style over form with those silly middle pod seats.

  • @rossgeller729
    @rossgeller729 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for sharing! The energy consumption is staggering high..Makes me wonder if MX 60D makes any sense at all. 420wh/mile translates into 143 miles when fully charged. After taking 20 miles as safety cushion the real usable range is down to only 120 miles. And you are really just doing highway cruising at medium speed at moderate temperature. Hot/cold weather, heavy traffic, 75 mph cruising will drop that range even lower..

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep in mind that this is a P90D with 22" wheels. A 60D is more efficient and will most likely have 20" wheels. Take a look at my videos of 90D and 20" Slipstream wheels in USA:

    Bjorn, you can get also 19' but with winter tyres! You can see it in the online store at model x section. I don' t know if it will be more economic.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The winter tires are not ready yet. Tesla told me it's not sure if it will be 19" or 20".

    • @goforsteve3042
      @goforsteve3042 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bjørn Nyland Ok. In the store picture looks like 19' rim and tyre anyway.

    @8.15 You are talking about tyoical km. Can you see that in the energy app? If you pull up the energy app it should be like a dottet line where typical km is, if you change to rated km it will lower the dottet line even more. I'm unsure if it is dottet line or not, but you should be able to see both lines typical when set to typical, and also the line that you are currently driving. Then you may not need to calculate the typical or rated. I could also be wrong. Great video! Love Optimus Prime:)👍👍👍

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That typical is wrong and has been wrong for a long time.

    @alain-pierrep.312 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello Bjørn. To wash Optimus prime, the "waterless" cleaning kit you've been offered in San Diego would have been ideal. Maybe you could take it with you in a future road-trip and review/test it while Optimus prime is recharging.

  • @Scott-sm9nm
    @Scott-sm9nm 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure why you don't use the the charging dialog and the trip tab within that to see how much extra range you want to have (ie. 10%). I use this regularly. You can use it while you are charging even!

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't take tunnels in account. That's why I never use it in Norway. So this is just an old habit.

  • @FurEngel
    @FurEngel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Bjorn: Tesla loaned me a P90DL for a week, and after a few days, I can really notice how much more energy per mi it used compared to my 85D on long trips. Of course it was mostly because of the driving habits. Having that much extra power seemed to result in more energy wasted.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not about the Ludicrous. But the performance motor in the rear is more powerful and less efficient than the smaller rear motor in 85D. That's why you consumed more energy.

    • @FurEngel
      @FurEngel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't mean the difference in kwh usage as rated by the motors, I mean it was a lot harder to hit the rated miles. Does that make sense? For example, the P90DL charged to 90% was about 240~, but I would generally hit about 70% of that. Where as in my 85D, 90% is 244, and I would hit about 90% of that. I also think the added weight makes it harder to drive "eco" and you really have to be careful about manually braking.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      D.E. Sarcarean P85D, P90D, etc has a larger motor. This larger motor consumes more energy than the smaller motors in 70D, 75D, 85D, 90D, etc. This is regardless of how you drive.

    • @FurEngel
      @FurEngel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know... and the rated miles (as reported by the car's software) takes that into account. I think maybe you are not running on much sleep today Bjorn.

    • @FurEngel
      @FurEngel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      For example, have you ever done a road trip test between two (say P90D and 90D) starting with the same RM? For example, start out with exactly 250RM each, drive the same road for 175 actual miles, then compare. I think you will find that there is a big difference. As I was saying, a P90DL and a 85D at 90% is almost the same RM (240ish) with the same firmware version.

      And now ( news of November 2016 ) we hear that if you don't own or buy a tesla before the 1st of January 2017
      And car is not delivered to you before April 2017,
      Then tesla will start to charge money for the super chargers use?
      The people who will still receive free super charging use will only be those who own a tesla car before the April 2017 deadline?
      No word on the cost of these new charging rates as of this time ( Nov 2016 )?

    Brother Bjørn - great video as always!
    I cringed watching you subject Optimus Prime's beautiful paint job to the high pressure water nozzle! You might want to verify with other Tesla owners, but the pressure of those nozzles Stateside can induce paint weakening and subsequent chipping.
    Peace!

    Interesting to see all the trash at the Danish Supercharger at about 38:00. I had this idea that Europeans were more careful than Americans in that department -- guess not!
    On a more positive note, I see that the Model X defroster grill is black, so it looks as if it does not reflect on the windshield as the Model S defroster vent does.

      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      At which supercharger was this? Watch part 2 and you will see that throughout the trip, I had a very tight schedule. Offering test drives/rides would have delayed my schedule even further.

      That is why I made the point about the guy with the family who drove out to meet you. Others seem to have been at the supercharger locations to charge their cars this guy is a purely to see and meet you. Not saying the others where not fans of yours its just this guy not everyday gets to power-up a Tesla. Still again great videos. Not that I expect you to turn into the Tesla test site.

    Elon is really getting his referal gift expenses paid for with all the PR you are doing with the model X. I think the reason the doors open automatically is to show everybody that Optimus Prime has arrived :-)

      Elon should spend a few hours watching these videos. But he's probably too busy getting to Mars :)

    Wow, The Model X is really LOUD when charging! Was this also the case with the Model S?

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same with Model S. Charging at 100+ kW generates some heat.

    Det var inte så att du körde hem mot Norge på E6an i måndags kväll (efter kl 22)? Mötte en blå Model X kring Uddevalla någonstans :p

    Would love to See you test the autopilot more deeply, esp. on smaller and windy roads... You should be very cautious though.

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I won't do that test because the autopilot was not designed for it. It's like testing to fly a medium sized drone indoors. Pointless.

      +Bjørn Nyland I agree. I would just be interesting from a scientific point of view what road conditions can still ne managed by autopilot (I am a mechanical engineer).

    So if you buy a Tesla Model X, you're not only getting an awesome and wonderful car, but you also gain friends as you drive along the way...

    He used Tesla's superchargers to recharge his car. In the videos it shows recharging times of 50m; that's way too long, I thought that they were supposed to recharge in 20m in Tesla's superchargers. Can anyone explain this?

    • @bjornnyland
      @bjornnyland  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 50 minutes is if I charged to 90 %. If you payed attention to what I said in the video, I rarely had to charge that much. Most of the time, 50-60 % is enough which takes 15-30 minutes.
