LYRICS: [Verse 1] Ride in the shadows wandering beyond the frame Float like a feather through space and time outside a dream Pirouette with divinity in a dance we've shared before "Someone dissolution" This is "I am all" as "I am none" Here we fly so high, no, I, no coming down Shedding weight as I'm coming undone All that's left converging as one I am the sun I am the sun [Chorus] I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head [Verse 2] I walk with death in final exhalation And come apart through violent separation A thousand floors ascend into the ether A lunatic enchanted by the reaper And down below I leave a stranger laying lifeless as the light begins to shatter the skies I ascend and leave behind the "used to be" And tear the fabric worn to cover my eyes and see I see [Refrain] Nobody [Verse 3] Breathe in the silence, ebb and flow among the waves Blur on the spectrum in light come dark in equal phase All I ever was, has been and always will be Here I end as I started again beyond death and borne on the wind I am the sun I am the sun [Chorus] I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head [Post-Chorus] A crack in the darkness A tear in the sky A narrow moment when we find ourselves And all we occupy Return to the boundless Immerse in the free Letting go as you lose your name And all you’ve known to be [Bridge] Nobody Nobody Nobody Nobody

Thank you! One little issue with A7X is it's hard to understand what they're saying, especially when english isn't your first language though it's fine with other bands when I hear the words clearly. I figured out a few of those lyrics but only now I properly understand it all.
So true, the solo is an absolute smoker too. I remember listening through the a7x album the stage the first time is being like that was good, but nothing great. After listening through a couple more times I realized how incredibly good the album was. This band kind of does that, for me at least

Honestly, I have been trying to put the feeling this song gives me into words. That's a good way to put it. That riff is almost like a siren, and I get, like an impending doomsday feeling from it.
I can’t believe I’ve been jamming a7x since 9th grade and now I’m 34 and my daughter loves them! So crazy how life passes by. Thank you a7x for everything 🙌
I feel like we all grew up with them somewhere in the background of our lives or even in front at concerts and stuff but they’ve been there. Drop your age and when you started listening to a7x 👇 🤘🖤
Gotta be honest. It takes balls to release something like this. No catchy chorus, no pop-ish vibes. Just pure art. Edit: OMG my comment blew up! Thank you everyone! ❤
Oh wow. I'm not usually a music video kinda guy but when I saw this was stop motion animated I had to watch it. The amount of love and care that requires is astonishing.
@@jan6335 great song. Not my favorite by them tho. That would probably go to victim, or maybe danger line. Mostly because the personal connection I have with both of those songs
When I first heard this song I was thinking they got old and what the heck happened to the vocals. But the song grows on you, and obviously has a message in it. Older A7x had this tormented soul ptsd vibe, now is speaks to a bigger picture/deeper perspective on life. Great guitar, killer drums, hypnotic vocals. Lives change, people evolve emotionally and spiritually so does Avenged, great work gentlemen.
You gotta remember also with the vocals....M is in his 40s and been thrashing his voice for 25 years....and had blood blisters on vocal chords, vocal chord surgery if I'm not mistaken. So it's not really fair to expect the dude to sound like he did in 2007...this album kicks ass!
I heard this the first time today. A refreshing listen. Enough to seek out what piped out through the speakers in the way home. That’s something! Praise God. Rock on
The new generation has risen to appreciate the A7X? I thought only us older generation held on to this belief in this band after Jimmy 'Rev' Sullivan departure 🤘loads of good things this band has been 🫡
On my 4th or 5th listen and I’m really digging it now. So glad to see they’re still pushing the boundaries for what their sound is. It sounds fresh and new yet completely Avenged Sevenfold. Bring on the album!
Same here! I was a bit happy since some songs which I never liked or hated on the first listen grew out to be my personal favorites... So, I gave the song what it deserves. many listens. now I'm caught up in the loop of it.. This song is fire! Life is but a dream... indeed!

You can really hear the change in Matt's voice. It sounds more weathered. Age catches up with us all but the band's service to the fans has always been exceptional over the years. Edit: Perhaps I should have phrased my sentiments more elaborately. The time was 3am where I am. I love A7X. Always have, always will. I'm not bashing Matt's vocals. I'm simply making an observation. There's not a vocalist on Earth that will have the same singing voice after 20 years of singing. Listen to any track from City of Evil and then listen to any track from The Stage. Same singer, years apart, and you can hear it. That's all I'm saying. I appreciate the passionate dialogue, though. Keep it going.
My first impression was that this song is kind of weird and didn't really hit like I expected, but after listening a few more times I'm into it. The video is super cool, the melody is great and the solo is so good.
I just miss the wicked crazy and difficult drumming and riffs from the old days. If it's easy enough for me to play as a beginner drummer, it's a turn off. The guitar solo was good, however some drum fills would really add to the song. I'm talking City of Evil (or even Nightmare) drumming days. Getting old must really mess up the knees or something.
This is one of those rare and unique songs that transcends any musical genre. Not made to be catchy or to pander any metal fan base.. but to be deeply remembered and discussed for decades to come, as a genuine work of art.
@@aleksandarradovanovic8496 lmao you need to listen to more songs. To be forgiving this song is passable. There are so many things more "transcendental" than this one.
Man, I am having the rough year. I started crying when I heard this, I just can't wait for the new album! Thanks to Avenged Sevenfold for making my year a bit better, I love you! 💚
Its only march my friend, it will get better. Hold on and take one day at a time and when it gets too tough then take one meal at a time. just keep crawling ahead and it will get better before you know it.
This is nuts. The evolution this band has naturally gone through over its career is one of the most dramatic and exciting in rock music history. They've literally checked all the boxes and continue to make up new ones as they go. I've been listening to The Stage (and the rest of the catalog, of course) at least a few times per week for the last several years...while I never tire of it I CANNOT WAIT to have a whole new album to learn every nook and cranny of.
Same as a guitar player who's biggest influence is Zachy and Syn its taken me all over the place as a player and especially learning the theory behind it.
@David Richburg ZV is one of the most underrated musicians on the planet. Syn is inhuman but without Zachy this band doesn't work. After hearing the covers where he did lead vocals I'd be very interested in hearing him do a solo thing (honestly the gap from The Stage until now was so long I thought for certain there'd be a project or 2 from some of them).
First time listening I couldn't even process everything correctly, but by the second time, that beautiful chorus just fucking hit me. What a crazy ass composition. Avenged is really stepping it the fuck up. never heard anything like this. I have so much faith in you, A7X, I know you guys put all your hearts and minds into these, and it shows. I cant wait to hear the whole thing. Cheers from Brazil
Hey Bro, don't forget to imagine watching they playing this live! This is the third time that keep waiting for song of new album, HTTK and The stage I was here. And I can say that again i'm surprised!!! Love it, as always! I'm so proud that I knew them a long time ago and have the oportunitty to keep them in my life.
I was here for HTTK and Stage too. Been listening since I was a little kid and this shit blew my mind. It was so so so so perfect and the amount of respect I have for shadows for making this masterpiece while sounding relatively fried is just unbelievable.
Synester Gates is one of the most underrated guitarists of the 2000s to now. He has one of a kind greatness. Deserves way more recognition that he gets.
@@KT-Poet In the hard-core music scene he gets recognition but Syn transcends genres. He inspired a whole generation of guitarists like myself. He deserves mainstream recognition is more what I was meaning I guess.
Bloody hell I didn't even realise they released this album. The older they get the more gritty the guitar is sounding, and I mean that in a positive way. I think they age like a fine wine.
like that they're exploring new things as their career goes on. I dig the Prog vibe they've got going since the last album. It shows they've grown as musicians. Not that they weren't already ridiculously talented to begin with. Bravo boys! Bravo!! 👏 👏
I like to think that this song takes place directly after Exist. The guitar and synth work is very similar too! The idea of ascending to the astral plain only to discover "nobody" is just a very haunting and existential thought. Roll on June 2023 🤘
Ding duh dings ❤ I also love how EVERYONE calls it "the double ride thing" from fans , guitar players other drummer's etc. I've never heard it be referred to as anything except ding da dings or double ride thing haha
@MuttonTinTin it's not fast but he's definitely doing a beat that he's alternating between hitting a ride on his left with his left hand and one on his right with his right hand while using the opposite hand to hit the snare every other time.
Their ability to constantly evolve their sounds is insane, every new project is like the next level of epic soundwaves. Stay motivated and keep this beautiful music coming boys!

This is such an incredibly profound song. The lyrics describe the realization of the truth of reality's emptiness. The singer or "I" has learned that the ego is a false veil, and in his description of his newfound realization, he illustrates the oneness he now feels with all existence that has always been there. This, while peaceful sounding, is, of course, horrifying to any being attached to their ego, which is symbolized by the unnerving and powerful horn played throughout the song always after the word "nobody" is chanted. The character's eventual accepting of the truth is later symbolized by a beautifully hypnotizing orchestra and guitar solo. This song is a musical masterpiece and a deeply spiritual experience. I love avenged sevenfold
that solo is up there with Syn's best and that is an absolute feat in itself. So inspiring to see him keep pushing his boundaries in his playing every damn album, can't wait for the rest what an inspiration and amazing band!!!
Just WOW! Saw these dudes at Warped in 2003. Now 20 years later I have my teen son rushing in to share this release with me. The imagery with this is amazing! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album💀🦇
This feels like we are on "the stage" timeline, and we are six years into the future of where the last album ended. I can feel energy from songs like paradigm, angels, higher, and sunny disposition in this new and amazing single! The energy is beautiful and moving. I've learned of new philosophical ideals, and the journey A7X has been on has been unbound (wild ride). I can't wait for my first A7X show! I have been listening to you guys since 2010, and I will never stop.
I won't lie, this video alone is a lot yo take in. The band touched on quite a few serious and troubling societal themes in the stage album, but bow they are taking it 10 steps further and really allowing their art to take its own shape. I love their earlier crazy albums, I love those vibes, but I cannot wait to dive into this new world with A7X🤘🤘
I feel like the Stage was about science and mankind, I'm "afraid" this one will be about death and be more philosophical, like the meaning of life, what is our purpose and such. It's gonna hit us hard with feelings, self-reflection and maybe like The Stage did for me, a teensy bit of self-hatred.
Wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but after a few listens I love it. The lyrics sound like they went and did a bunch of psychedelics and blasted back through all of space and time

@@DerrickRG this isn’t math, it’s art. There’s objective and subjective qualities to be discussed. Surely there’s objective good within this piece, tons I’m sure, but y’all say it’s bad with a very large stroke of subjectivity.
Got fat ass new speaker and a couple of subs at work, the vibration while using ear pro with the speaker set to 110 volume shakes the clipboards on the tables and feels like someone was to touch you when the bass hits hard for this song. Welding while it's playing just makes you feel like a super hero. Good times and often find myself humming the audio even when it isn't playing 😂.
He has always been a talented player, but this is a huge improvement from his prior work. It's pretty clear that he has been putting in the hours - technically, mechanically, musically, texturally, this is maybe his best work all-around, and a fantastic introduction to his current playing. I applaud the work.
@@aaronwallace8098 I don't agree mate. I really enjoyed the solo but it doesn't have much creativity in it. I gotta say, i wasnt big on this one at first, but after listening to it a few times it really grows on you. I really love the atmosphere the song has. Really fits the video well
I think Avenged sevenfold is the only band that when they make new music I get goosebumps hearing it and even emotional at times just feeling their music so beautiful
My first time listening: M. Shadows vocals: Oh, he loose his voice, this vocals are so different, i hate this kind of vocals. Syn Gates' riffs: What a fuck? I miss Citty of Evil guitars, i'm so upset. Video Clip: One more video game stuff? lol Song Style: WTF? Its not A7x! Is there Rap in the middle of song? Whats this mix? Didnt like this at all, its very confusing. Syn's solos: Ok, i liked this, it's the only good part for sure, thank you Syn. Third time Listening: M. Shadows Vocals: I fucking love Shadows voice, fit perfectly with the music! How can he sings with vocal cords problems? He is so amazing! My favourite singer since I knew him. Syn gates' riff: OMG this riff is so deep and so simple at the same time! Love it. Video Clip: Holy fuck, I love how do they pass such a philosophical message! We have to be better people, the world is sick. Song Style: I didnt like this at first, but the song grew on me, i can't stop listening this masterpiece. Syn's solo: I think it's easily a top 3 solo ever done in history. No one can disagree.
Avenged Sevenfold - Nobody (Official Video) 1929pm 14.3.23 go to revolver... sounds like ministry and the agnostic gospel choir. old hat but good luck to 'em. spent more on the vid than they did on perusing their musical ventures, i feel...
I loved it, the horns section although cluttered in the mix still sounds amazing in the background! And adds an extra layer of melody that puts the chorus over the top!

Not only is this easily the most memorable guitar solo I've ever heard from A7X, it is quickly becoming one of my favorite guitar solos of all time. Never have I heard a solo so effectively and succinctly tell a story of tragedy. The way it ends is just so harrowing every time I listen to it, like a life cut too short. Remarkable.
Dude, Afterlife has been my favorite A7x song, actually, it has been my favorite song of all time, of all bands, of all genres, for YEARS...This song, just took that spot. This is one of the greatest songs of ALL TIME IMO. This is legit a musical masterpiece. All the sounds coming together produce an amazing result.
This is because this is in a much philophical and artistical way than their previous albums before the stage. A7X evolved a lot through the years, took more time, but their new album are straight up taking us in a road trip
I think if the drums didn't outright kill the song it would at least be listenable. "A Little Piece Of Heaven" had much better execution for what I feel is what they where trying to do though. Yes different intentions on both songs but both are more on the experimental side.
A7X's ability to evolve is incredible, they never repeat themselves, they never make a 2.0 of any record, and that's impressive, a unique band, foREVer 💎
@@pieruapina L Take on that...maybe some stage inspiration.....but you might as well come out and say A7X is a Metallica ripoff....that would sound more intelligent than the crap you just said.
They really dove into that concept sound and thats whats amazing about this band, they arent afraid to try those new sounds. Love this band! SOLO AND DRUMS ARE AMAZING AS ALWAYS! Cannot wait for this new album!
Did you understand, look, ppl just unsubscribe this band, just bcz the song is not that good wtf, i really mad at ppl, they're sucks, i hate ppl like that
@@Ore_arts It's sad that fans can't accept that a bands sound has to change through the years and as a fan you grow with them. If you want the same crap, go listen to Metallica or something... I agree with you, it sucks... But the true fans will stay!
It takes a few listens to really grasp everything since there’s so much happening at once. Every time you listen, you catch something new. This definitely has more of an “album starter” sound and feel; a taste of what the whole record is going to reflect. I think it’s got a good mix of their traditional tonality, and the new direction in terms of overall sound and effects that is reflected in the current “rock/metal” scene. Solid performances from everyone; each member had their moments to express themselves and where they’ve evolved over the years. Overall, I think it’s got a lot of potential as long as you keep an open mind to change. Remember, if a band sounded the same forever, you’d complain they never do anything different. If they try something new, they’re ruining their traditional sound and are killing everything that made them who they are. This is a fine example of blending between the two aforementioned.
IMO it sound a lot like a mix of diamond in the rough and the stage. definitly need a couple listens like the stage to get use to it. It's cool that they trying new stuff, they are older now and taste change when getting older, the music industry have change a lot too. People tend to forget band dont do music for people... most of them do it for themselve.

This really induces deep thinking. I love the way M. Shadows and everyone else in the band thinks. I’ve listened to interviews and I really like the way they think. I have done some major self reflection on a lot of the topics discussed and even changed my perspective!!!
this is certainly heading in the same direction that the stage was pointing toward, but the style is very different to what im used to from a7x. Its definitely not a bad thing as iv come to expect that with each album the band has grown, they enjoy new styles, new thoughts and ideas so of course the new album is going to be at minimum a little different style wise from the last. The one thing thats reoccurring through every album: The common theme: is poetry. Each song you listen to has so many complex meanings, concepts, ideas, messages its trying to convey with as much style as they possibly can slot in there. The only thing you can really compare that to: is poetry. I love the poetry in every single a7x song i started off with Nightmare and not ready to die from black ops making me a normy at the time im sure. But what really kept me around was diving deep into the meanings of the songs. I can tell im going to really enjoy the new album even if the style might need to grow on me. Cheers mates, youre all awesome and I love the new drums.
I could not have said it better myself 🤘I've been listening to Avenged Sevenfold for 10+ years, and I still get the "lightbulb" click when their poetic lyricism makes sense to me.
I believe this is a true testament of how artists create innovative new pieces and start a trend, with such originality comes eventually imitation as a prospect of flattery. This song is a journey, we are everything and nothing at the same time, we our own gods of our own universe. I can’t wait to see what is in store.
It’s so good. It’s honestly so, so good. The chorus is awesome. The drumming is excellent. Brooks is such a brilliant drummer. Great song. Welcome back guys.

@HeyYou I'm probably wrong, but this is what I think. It's means there is a man with immense power that has ruined his life using it. Leaving his mark and waiting for death to reach the afterlife.
This is why I started listening to this band 20 years ago, knowing they had it in them to do stuff like this. I can’t wait to hear the rest of this album and hope it’s as crazy/proggy as this!!!

it takes time to realize that the album "Life is but a dream" is just purely made of art, many consider it as a masterpiece, and the solo, Synyster Gates really is one of the greatest guitarist
Ego Death, as in Polyphia? meh. That's a great example of how you can have similar ingredients (solo dancing the bridge, choppy cymbal work, up and down steady undercurrent) and yet somehow, plyphia manages to be completely soul-less ai art and a7x is bringing raw emotion. I personally can't stand polyphia although its hard to pinpoint why.. likely the complete lack of soul... but i do get the comparison.
@@Steve-fc4bo I think he means thematically, the song is seemingly about the phenomenon of ego death that people tend to experience when experimenting with shrooms and dmt.
@@thIDthIRreenactor I'm very, very worried. The Stage was bad IMO, the only passable song was the title track, the rest was like a bad mushroom trip. The best thing they've released in recent years is the B side Set Me Free, THAT'S the A7X sound that I fell in love with in the first place! I had to go listen to that as a pallet cleanser after this song(?). Idk, the bands just dead to me now unless I'm proven wrong.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 Well they're not just gonna make the same music forever that'd be boring. For me The Stage had a maturity and sense of composition their other albums didn't quite reach, and this single is genre-bending with a palpable atmosphere. The old music is still there it didn't go away lol
A7X is really one of the most interesting bands in music today. They've really evolved from their hedonistic days obsessed with solos and breakdowns, to this more mature, focused sound that feels like an amalgamation of everything they've learned as musicians and storytellers. Very excited for what the rest of the album is going to sound like.
I'm pretty sure the album will be a 'dark alternative', just like the previous single Mad Hatter. Edit: I guess I'm wrong after listening to "We Love You" 😅
Synyster Gates is probably one of the best guitarists in existence at this time and it shows in this song. I saw A7X live at Sonic Temple and they blew me away with this song, Syn was shredding up there and it was historical to witness live.
Saw em this tour from Canada. Syn went absolutely nuts on buried alive, like for several minutes after the song "ended" bro just kept shredding. Even m.shaddows was like, wow yall are lucky to hear syn shred like that

These guys have been my favorite band for 23 years and I’m so excited for this album. They cannot do wrong in my book. Thanks boys for continuing to save my life for the last 23 years. And the album comes out two days before my birthday? So stoked. It’s crazy to think that the album comes out four days before the 17th anniversary of city of evil. Feel old yet?
My Birthday is June 1st, so it comes out one day after mine. A7X is in my top 50 bands. Now that may seem like some sort of cutdown or something, but when you think about all the great bands out there from the past and even today, you realize it's a great compliment. I own every album, have been to concerts, have shirts, posters, played their stuff on Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and tried to in real life lol. This song was pretty good. The solo reminded me of Dream Theater's John Petrucci, and they are in my top 25.
I was here a few hours after the release when everyone was like, "wtf is this?!?!" But seriously, this song really grows on you after a few listens. It takes many plays to truly appreciate all the pieces. I'm glad to see people enjoying it more. It really reminds me of the stage.
The song does indeed grow on you. But I’m left wondering if the vocals from M shadows are fading a bit or if this was a choice of style he went with. Will have to listen to the full album to decide. The stage he had a few songs where he had tones of this sound so maybe I’m just paranoid
@@AlmostJordan his vocal cords were severely strained the last tour so they had to call it quits early in order foe his voice to recover and this album was complete in 2020 but they chose to hold on to it until after Covid. Listen to Drinks With Johnny and he explains everything better.
I found the stage to be like that. I didn't care for the album at first but after listening to everything a few times I could see how much of a masterpiece it is.
@@newbeginning1510 No more Nightmare, that was the beginning of the downfall. City of Evil is one of my favorite rock albums ever, revisiting that style would be great. A7X was an their undeniable peak from Waking the Fallen through Self Titled, and they have yet to reach that again with all the mediocre-at-best records they've made since then.
Older A7X was better than this but this is ok. I wish they wouldn’t have changed their style so much. If I wanted to listen to a different style I would just listen to a different band, this doesn’t feel like the A7X that I know and love.
This song is a masterpiece, a clear progression from the last album, that builds on it and fulfills it. You can hear "Higher" in the sound of the song, the bass line and the drums are perfect. It's amazing that you guys continue to grow and evolve, and this clearly psychedelic song shows us you are evolving in more ways than one, as many of us are these days! Love you guys, cannot wait for the album!
After listening to this new song, it immediately came to me that Avenged Sevenfold has become a bigger and better musicians than they already have been. This is a big song, love the evolution.

I have been listening A7X since City of Evil. And years later, we finally get it! A new track! I'm so hyped. As always as dope. A7X made me love a metal music. I like their creation and I'm glad that band still continue do what they love. Never stop impress us. I'm thankful to you that you appeared in my life. You're my favorite band and forever will be. I'm proud of you. Jimmy would proud of you too. Thank you for everything🤘😢🤘
It shouldn't be that hard and we all know it. We can say it out loud, y'know? They strayed a little too far from the genre of rock & metal on this one. It's a little too industrial sounding. What was wrong with just walking up on stage, plugging directly it into the Marshall double stack, and riding the lightening for a couple hours?
@@Britton_Thompson because music has to progress. i guarantee you it’d get stale if they made the same music over and over. heard the new Metallica for example? 😭
@@sabe3415 I can definitely agree to this. Album hasn’t been released yet, so it’s still too early to tell if the experimenting they seem to be doing is going to pay off or not, but it’s certainly different to what the Stage was.

[Verse 1]
Ride in the shadows wandering beyond the frame
Float like a feather through space and time outside a dream
Pirouette with divinity in a dance we've shared before
"Someone dissolution"
This is "I am all" as "I am none"
Here we fly so high, no, I, no coming down
Shedding weight as I'm coming undone
All that's left converging as one
I am the sun
I am the sun
[Chorus]
I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything
I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head
[Verse 2]
I walk with death in final exhalation
And come apart through violent separation
A thousand floors ascend into the ether
A lunatic enchanted by the reaper
And down below I leave a stranger laying lifeless as the light begins to shatter the skies
I ascend and leave behind the "used to be"
And tear the fabric worn to cover my eyes and see
I see
[Refrain]
Nobody
[Verse 3]
Breathe in the silence, ebb and flow among the waves
Blur on the spectrum in light come dark in equal phase
All I ever was, has been and always will be
Here I end as I started again beyond death and borne on the wind
I am the sun
I am the sun
[Chorus]
I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything
I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head
[Post-Chorus]
A crack in the darkness
A tear in the sky
A narrow moment when we find ourselves
And all we occupy
Return to the boundless
Immerse in the free
Letting go as you lose your name
And all you’ve known to be
[Bridge]

M. Shadow's grimey voice with the industrial riff, and the melancholic, dreary tone with the apocalyptic trumpets really sells this IMO...
Honestly, I have been trying to put the feeling this song gives me into words. That's a good way to put it. That riff is almost like a siren, and I get, like an impending doomsday feeling from it.

You can really hear the change in Matt's voice. It sounds more weathered. Age catches up with us all but the band's service to the fans has always been exceptional over the years.
Edit:
Perhaps I should have phrased my sentiments more elaborately.
I think you should wait for the rest of the album before you say something like that It could be intentional
Very sad to hear his voice now, but I still love this band
Didn't he had like a surgery or something and he eventually need to relearn singing kinda
@Chadwick Baker yeah I think the second surgery was in 2018
His vocals kinda ruin the song a bit. I’m a huge fan of m shadows voice but idk what happened.. this is kinda bad.

Float like a feather through space and time outside a dream
Pirouette with divinity in a dance we've shared before
"Someone dissolution"
This is "I am all" as "I am none"
Here we fly so high, no, I, no coming down
Shedding weight as I'm coming undone
All that's left converging as one
I am the sun
I am the sun
I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything
I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man withouth a head
I walk with death in final exhalation
And come apart through violent separation
A thousand floors ascend into the ether
A lunatic enchanted by the reaper
And down below I leave a stranger laying lifeless as the light begins to shatter the skies
I ascend and leave behind the "used to be"
And tear the fabric worn to cover my eyes and see
I see
Nobody
Breathe in the silence, ebb and flow among the waves
Blur on the spectrum in light come dark in equal phase
All I ever was, has been and always will be
Here I end where I started again beyond death and borne on the wind
I am the sun
I am the sun
I'm a God, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything
I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head
A crack in the darkness
A tear in the sky
A narrow moment when we find ourselves
And all we occupy
Return to the boundless
Immerse in the free
Letting go as you lose your name
And all you’ve known to be

-Man this song is awesome!
Great lyrics
Nice
Is there no one talking about that solo?! Syn is an absolute monster, his playing gets better with every new release! Crazy
And it keeps going! 3x as long as I expected.
What an amazing piece of music
Agreed. The solo is enchanting.
I said it in another video but out of Avenged Sevenfold entire catalog I believe this is hands down his best solo yet
City of evil had so many sick riffs on it
Yeah dude slays most of the heavier metal bands.
that solo is up there with Syn's best and that is an absolute feat in itself. So inspiring to see him keep pushing his boundaries in his playing every damn album, can't wait for the rest what an inspiration and amazing band!!!

Same. Though I'll add that, I prefer the tracks from the 03 Era and he prefers their recent stuff.
I have been listening to you guys since 2010, and I will never stop.
it feels more like their self titled album too, like a mix of their roots and a new style it hits so hard
It’s decent. Stage is decent. Hope the rest of the album is better than this. They’ve done this. This is the stage Pt 2 so far.

Makes me happy to see that there's still people like you and me out there
I feel like the Stage was about science and mankind, I'm "afraid" this one will be about death and be more philosophical, like the meaning of life, what is our purpose and such. It's gonna hit us hard with feelings, self-reflection and maybe like The Stage did for me, a teensy bit of self-hatred.
Wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but after a few listens I love it. The lyrics sound like they went and did a bunch of psychedelics and blasted back through all of space and time
The chorus playing back over itself is what does it.
I got that trippy Sweet Leafy vibe but this is way more refined with a beginning middle and end. M Shadows' vocals are amazing
its so weird the people who cant fathom someone creating interesting sounding music without being high

Who else randomly hums that riff throughout the day, or is it just me.. so simple yet so fkn awesome!
I was just literally thinking the same thing, for the second time today after I caught myself humming it on the elevator this morning.
It's kinda hard to hum 😂😂 it has an unusual timbre
Every time 😂
Got fat ass new speaker and a couple of subs at work, the vibration while using ear pro with the speaker set to 110 volume shakes the clipboards on the tables and feels like someone was to touch you when the bass hits hard for this song. Welding while it's playing just makes you feel like a super hero. Good times and often find myself humming the audio even when it isn't playing 😂.
Can't say the word "Nobody " without singing this song!
A7X's music never lets me down, and the synster solos are always satisfying 🔥❤
He has always been a talented player, but this is a huge improvement from his prior work. Syn Gates' riffs: What a fuck? I miss Citty of Evil guitars, i'm so upset.

Syn's solos: Ok, i liked this, it's the only good part for sure, thank you Syn.
Third time Listening:
M. Shadows Vocals: I fucking love Shadows voice, fit perfectly with the music! How can he sings with vocal cords problems? He is so amazing! My favourite singer since I knew him.
Syn gates' riff: OMG this riff is so deep and so simple at the same time! Love it.

So what you're saying is that you haven't ever experienced many bands or much art.
There are a metric fuck ton of bands persuing art. Most people just don't see them because they don't look for new music or take any chances.

True. I didn’t like this song much but every time I listen to it, gets so much better! This is actually a really good song!
This is because this is in a much philophical and artistical way than their previous albums before the stage. A7X evolved a lot through the years, took more time, but their new album are straight up taking us in a road trip

Completely agree
100% agree!

Im convinced its "wondering beyond the brain.
@Solziar no,he is right
This really induces deep thinking.
I can tell im going to really enjoy the new album even if the style might need to grow on me.

it takes time to realize that the album "Life is but a dream" is just purely made of art, many consider it as a masterpiece, and the solo, Synyster Gates really is one of the greatest guitarist
This song is dark. This is a band evolving. This song is everything I expect an A7X song to sound like. I like it.
I got a positive "ego death" vibe from it. It's deep for sure. I'm so happy they're back!

Sounds awfully like a paid comment lol
@@HomewardPro lol why? Cus it’s well-articulated? I meant what I said!
I'm pretty sure the album will be a 'dark alternative', just like the previous single Mad Hatter.
Edit: I guess I'm wrong after listening to "We Love You" 😅
The Atlanta show in Sept was one of my favorite memories of all my 50 years. You gave me hope and made me feel alive for the first time in a decade.
Synyster Gates is probably one of the best guitarists in existence at this time and it shows in this song. I saw A7X live at Sonic Temple and they blew me away with this song, Syn was shredding up there and it was historical to witness live.
absolutely not the best
Not even top 25 currently playing, he’s good but to say he’s the best is just stupid
Saw em this tour from Canada. Syn went absolutely nuts on buried alive, like for several minutes after the song "ended" bro just kept shredding. Even m.shaddows was like, wow yall are lucky to hear syn shred like that
@@castellanos-us7kx Alex lifeson, Adam Jones, Brendon small, Matt heafy, Dave mustaine

Lyrics:
Ride in the shadows, wandering beyond the frame
Float like a feather through space and time, outside a dream
Pirouette with divinity in a dance we've shared before
Someone dissolution, this is I am all as I am none
Here we fly so high, no I, no coming down
Shedding weight as I'm coming undone
All that's left converging as one
I am the Sun, I am the Sun, yeah
I'm a god, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything
I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head
(I'm a god) I walk with death in final exhalation
(I'm awake) and come apart through violent separation
(I'm the one) a thousand floors ascend into the ether
(In everything) a lunatic enchanted by the reaper
(I'm alive) and down below I leave a stranger laying lifeless (I'm the dead) as the light begins to shatter the skies
(I'm a man) and I ascend and leave behind the used to be
(Without a head) and tear the fabric worn to cover my eyes and see
I see (I see)
Nobody
Breathe in the silence, ebb and flow among the waves
Blur on the spectrum, in light come dark in equal phase
All I ever was has been and always will be
Here I end as I started, again beyond death and born on the wind
I am the Sun, I am the Sun, yeah
I'm a god, I'm awake, I'm the one in everything
I'm alive, I'm the dead, I'm a man without a head
A crack in the darkness, a tear in the sky
(I'm the one) a narrow moment when we find ourselves
(In everything) and all we occupy
Return to the boundless, immerse in the free
(I'm a man) letting go as you lose your name
(Without a head) and all you've known to be
Nobody
Nobody
Nobody
Nobody

I feel the same. It grew on me too
It's sounding experimental but I can feel something from The Stage and Diamonds On The Rough.
@@albaaivn give it 2 more listens
Gotta be honest. It takes balls to release something like this. No catchy chorus, no pop-ish vibes. Just pure art.
Damn good points I didn't even think of that until just now. Makes the song even better.
there was a comment on this already
@@Brad7450 yeah that was me but youtube hid it for some reason so I re-posted it :')
It's still catchy though. That riff = it's in my head after 1.5 listens!
It's got that grit - and I bet it'll prove to be an incredible piece of the album
This song grows spectacularly on you the more you listen and pay attention to it. Master-effin-piece!
Teared up with the “we love you” I’m so so glad you guys are back and you’re damn right I’m pre ordering the album
I thought it was a good bye and almost cried.

@@apocalyptic_zombie1989 I was trying not to think that lol 😥
Avenged Sevenfold revived the legends. I love this song....
HTTK and Thr Stage were absolute dog shit.
Maybe I'm lost, but google says COE was released June 6th 2005. So it's turning 18 in a couple of months
OMG AND ITS LIKE 123 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! OMG OMG OMG OMG
and thats how the real a7x family sees it! a7x foREVer
The solo reminded me of Dream Theater's John Petrucci, and they are in my top 25.
that outro solo. gawd.
It’s definitely an interesting choice for the first song back after a few years
It’s also definitely a song that gets better with each listen
I was here a few hours after the release when everyone was like, "wtf is this?!?!"
But seriously, this song really grows on you after a few listens. It takes many plays to truly appreciate all the pieces. I'm glad to see people enjoying it more. It really reminds me of the stage.
Try an listen to it on a loud system with big speakers it’s like a different song compared to headphones much better
@@AlmostJordan I believe he's still recovering from surgery on his vocal cords
I found the stage to be like that. I didn't care for the album at first but after listening to everything a few times I could see how much of a masterpiece it is.
As a long time fan and a prog fan this is some of their best work I'm glad progressing instead of doing the same album over and over again.
I kind of wished they did a city of evil or nightmare kind one more time.
I like this song but gives me stage 2.0 vibes
This is not even top 30 or 40. It's a solid 1.5/5.
@@johnnycaralta calling Nightmare mediocre is crazy
Older A7X was better than this but this is ok. I wish they wouldn’t have changed their style so much. If I wanted to listen to a different style I would just listen to a different band, this doesn’t feel like the A7X that I know and love.
Incredible song. What a masterpiece!
The composition of this song can not be understated. It's brilliant👏

The more and more you listen to it the better and better it gets
It shouldn't be that hard and we all know it. We can say it out loud, y'know? They strayed a little too far from the genre of rock & metal on this one. It's a little too industrial sounding. What was wrong with just walking up on stage, plugging directly it into the Marshall double stack, and riding the lightening for a couple hours?
