I never understood how A7X could not be considered metal by any existing person, its the main genre they write for, and they have both complex and simply songs that almost all fit inside the genre of metal. They're instrumentals are as melodic as Iron Maiden and they're as heavy as Metallica and Black Sabbath, and they beat out many other older bands for ingenuity in music. And M. Shadows can go from a great raspy scream to a very melodic high pitch note. Like seriously, if they aren't metal, then Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Black Sabbath must be pop music, because its obvious A7X were heavily inspired by all of them.
I'm Fearr Even though they've done both heavy and light, hell, they may not restrict themselves just to metal, but that can't mean they aren't. (I mean they wrote Second Heartbreak, for example, which is definitely not light and they've covered Pantera's Walk better then almost any other band I've seen do it) I just don't get how they obviously do metal justice (just looking at City of Evil, the songs on that album are about as intricate as I'd expect from Black Sabbath and old Iron Maiden, not as heavy as Sabbath, but still) and many fanatics think they deserve to be called pop or alt even though they obviously live mostly in metal, and not always lightly. (Also, since I gave an example of songs where Shadows more so screamed, I should also point out he doesn't need to scream to make great songs, as he is suppose to be cutting down on that, but This Means War uses a Metallica riff and rhythm, which is also not light, just upbeat, also those people who call them a rippoff on that song are stupid, its just a rhythm, not like they actually stole the song)
Black Sabbath consider(ed) their music to be Hard Rock… Metallica's style is changing, going from Thrash thru Hard Rock and even broughts some other music style elements… what you have named does not always defines the genre and in the end… how does it even matter? I’m a 57 year old rock&roll man. I’m not much about bands of this generation but I overheard kids talking about AX7 and some of the stuff they were saying about them was all good like Arena concerts 1970’s and’ 1980’s with 1960’s too. I’ve always wanted to take my grandson to a R&R concert inside. You get the best music inside and I’m not a fan of outdoor concerts because they just play loud. So ax7 was coming to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi and 2 support bands were playing. BB was the middle band when they played Smells Like Teen Spirit the place came alive. AX7 were awesome. My grandson committed suicide 2 years ago. He fought like hell against depression but lost the war.

In every avenged's concert when this song is being played there is nothing to do in the Intro part but shouting " hail". it's just so fucking exciting as fuck.
They came to Utah, where I am, and it was fucking awesome! They played, Afterlife, Almost Easy, Hail to the King, So Far Away, Nightmare, A Little Piece of Heaven, and more I don't remember.
When they opened for Metallica last week, I have to say that chanting HAIL at the start of this song was one of the best fucking moments I've ever experienced.
Their show in houston with metallica was fucking emotional dude i felt that energy when i chanted hail with everyone... feels like a dream.... like im not even sure it fucking happened.... i have to see them again
They got the idea from AC/DC Thunderstruck. Awesome song too, a7x just changed the intro a bit to make it their own. Some people say a7x stole it, but really they're paying homage to the bands before them that lead the way. If there was no AC/DC or Metallica ect, no A7X.

This is the first time I've ever heard someone make music that sounds almost identical to MetallicA. I've said for a long time that no one quite does music like Metallica, but these guys have actually managed to make something that sounds exactly like one of my favorite bands of all time! Well done!!!
My two favorite bands are MetallicA and Disturbed, but Avenged Sevenfold has perfected the sound of classic thrash/shred metal. It's not all screamo, but has some and real grit and power. The band members are brilliant musicians and they sound flawless. Plus their mixing and layering of instruments is some of the best in all of music. I would love to see them live one day.
As soon as Johnny enters the song around 00:53 is when it starts to feel like the song is finally complete after all that buildup and then the lyrics can begin. THAT'S why the bass is important in metal.

As a metal head from the old days, it fills my heart with joy to see the heavy metal banner being carried forward by these kids from A7x. More power to them, I say! Yes, they are not Judas Priest or Iron Maiden. They are something new. Representing a new era and a new generation. But yet they carry with them all the traditions and virtues that make metal, metal. Thank you A7x and may you and other bands like you carry metal far into the 21st century.
It's impressive how Mr. Shadows' vocal intensity persists, even after years of vocal strain. He carries all the emotional depth, manifesting as anger and hatred in his delivery. The layers in this song are incredible; the weight and intensity blend seamlessly with its melodramatic essence. Synyster Gates' solo is truly captivating.
Wow. Nine years later and still gives me the biggest case of goosebumps ever. Thank you A7X for amazing work like this and so many other songs through the years.

Slayer, Black Sabbath, Motionless in White, Five Finger Death Punch, and Metallica have all continued to be active since after '99 (which was when A7X was founded), and all have a similar vibe. Admittedly Hetfield and Ulrich are douchebags, but they've still made albums since St. Anger that were better than St. Anger. All are metal in the 80s sense of metal (some might argue Sabbath and Metallica founded metal). So what in the Hell are you talking about?

Metallica and A7x are slightly different sound-wise, but i do love both. I always say A7x is the religious version of Metallica, and slightly darker(even though Metallica can get pretty dark).
that most esteemed position in my heart is way too crowded for an a7x song, as it's currently occupied by Dio's Holy Diver, but if it wasn't, it would probably be Be'lakor's "countless skies", lamb of god's "set to fail", or Katatonia's "scarlet heavens"

Be thankful they do not play it on the radio too much, because they will run it into the ground just like they do all of the songs they get a hold of. They play them over and over and over and over. I can barely listen to the radio any more because it's the same shit constantly.

My two favorite bands are MetallicA and Disturbed, but Avenged Sevenfold has perfected the sound of classic thrash/shred metal. It's not all screamo, but has some and real grit and power. The band members are brilliant musicians and they sound flawless. Plus their mixing and layering of instruments is some of the best in all of music. I would love to see them live one day.

I was an 80s kid into heavy metal and I can say for the first time since then that this band has done it correctly
Then you haven't listened to a lot of heavy metal in the last 40 years, or you're not positive what metal is. Slayer, Black Sabbath, Motionless in White, Five Finger Death Punch, and Metallica have all continued to be active since after '99 (which was when A7X was founded), and all have a similar vibe. Admittedly Hetfield and Ulrich are douchebags, but they've still made albums since St. Anger that were better than St. Anger. All are metal in the 80s sense of metal (some might argue Sabbath and Metallica founded metal). So what in the Hell are you talking about?

Metallica and A7x are slightly different sound-wise, but i do love both. I always say A7x is the religious version of Metallica, and slightly darker(even though Metallica can get pretty dark).
