    I have been using this for a few months with mixed results. The older the neg the worse it seems as is mentioned here. There often seems to be area that looks rather like a light tea stain is the only way l can describe it. Guess it will improve with time.

    Question: After drilling to Filter / Neutral Filters / colorize ....... the photo that you want to colorize appears on the right side of the screen and it is a smaller version of the original photo. How can you make it larger so you can tool around and touch up the photo by adding color to it (which you can, I don't have beta, I just have the filter and it works great and gives you the opportunity to correct colors).... but It's impossible to work on smaller areas because the photo work area in the Neutral Filters area is too small to work on.
    Anyone?

    great video and I did learn some, thank you, but it left me with the same two questions that I started with.
    1) What do you do when it gets the coloring wrong? I have a b/w photo of a family of five and it did a great job on 3 of them, but one ended up with pink teeth and, worse, one ended up with non-colored ears. When I tried to use the focal point to try to match the ears, it colored way outside the ear. When I tried to use "focal Point" to whiten the teeth, it whitened part of the face, too.
    Also, after accepting changes, I wanted to do a little more, but rechoosing to colorize started from scratch, losing my previous changes. Is there no way to continue...you only get one shot?
    It's impressive, but feels like I've lost control of exactly where the color ends up with these focal points, especially if I can't go back to make further changes (like if I didn't notice those ears the first time). Thanks for the head start, though.

      You must redo all the work manually in new layers. There's no way to use the focal points to paint details without affecting all pixels with that color globally. The coloring feature is a nice toy, nothing more.

    Unfortunately the colorize neural filter doesn't work very well on many photos. So far, I haven't found any tutorial that shows how to get it to achieve good results with the photos that it can't handle on first click. Maybe the neural filters are just not good enough yet, but I'm hoping there's at least some way to manually tweak them when they fail, like they did in the example of the older photo from this video.

      You’re right, the filter is lacking for most images. But it is still in beta mode. I’ve even had it look really good in preview and them turn splotchy once applied. The tutorial you mentioned is a good idea. It would take some work to produce one of those, but the idea of marrying the old with the new techniques would be good. We’ll give it a think.

      Its a self learning tool, so the more you and I use it the better it will be

    can we add this filter to cs6

    • @TheVisualCenter
      @TheVisualCenter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, I don’t believe you can. I think CS6 might lack the appropriate algorithms and features to have neural filters work.

    your wife coloring its very good at 9:10. can you make a tutorial on how we can paint color like that manually?

    • @TheVisualCenter
      @TheVisualCenter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not very good at it, that’s why I had to defer to my wife’s expertise. She studied painting so that helped with her skill of layering colors. And unfortunately she is not very fond of being on camera. But Maybe we could work something out, we’ll see.

    I must be really dumb, but when your video gets to 2.43/2.44, it suddenly shows a different right hand side panel with the layers. I have no idea what you did to show that alternative panel with the layers! Help!

    • @TheVisualCenter
      @TheVisualCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is when I pressed “OK” to apply the filter, the layers panel is photoshops regular layer panel, I have exited the Neural Filter window at this point.

    It doesn't shave hours off of your workflow since all it really does well is skintones. But even there it misses out on a lot. Another AI flaw is that it always gets colors wrong. As a professional colorist, I do research and use correct colors on details such as clothing, buildings, vehicles etc. The Coloring filter is a nice toy, nothing more.
