keine Ahnung ob du meine Antwort noch nach 9 Monaten sehen wirst, aber bei mir dasselbe. Mein Vater hat mich damals um die 1995 in diese Musik eingeführt. Damals noch CDs 😲Heute hat er Demenz, OMD ist aber nach wie vor etwas, was ich auch nach fast 30 Jahren immer noch super gerne hören.
Their music makes me think of times when I was young when I was in love. Those days are long since gone, but these songs really take me back.
Those moments are still in your heart.

I worked in a department store in Brisbane, Australia in the 80's. They used to play this song 5 minutes before closing time each day :)

Lucky you. What a lovely way to see both customers and colleagues as well as yourself off. Andy, Paul clearly love “The Wizard of Oz”(1939). How could you not? Pure honesty, humility, humor and love dispensed.

I bought this for my mum on her birthday in '84 on a 45 rpm record(vinyl for the younger ones) from woolworths and she played it till it was worn out !
I have still got my 7" vinyl from woolworths and it still sounds 👍
First single I ever bought, also from Woolies! I was 12 in '84. Remember going into town on the bus to buy it. Couldn't wait to get home to play it on my little Bush lift up lid record player!

This is one of the catchiest, sweetest, purest pop songs ever written and conceived. My heart melts like butter every time I hear it, and I've never stopped listening to it since 1985. Just pure beauty and genius that transports me to a simpler time when all we had to fret about was the Russians nuking us.
Beyond Lennon and McCartney, in my opinion the greatest song writing duos of the last 40 years are Difford and Tilbrook (Squeeze) and McCluskey and Humphries.
I always think the outro sounds like kids in a school playground (the cacophony of sound of those kids) but when I play it and listen to it, it doesn't, I just think it does when I think of the song without listening to it, if you get my drift
Actually in the 80s President Reagan has peace negotiations with the president of the Soviet Union. They agreed the freeze of nuclear weapons. They even later became like friends. Reagan believed in talking to everyone including enemies

We had government information films , school drills, CND protests and anti nuclear war programs like threads.

Loooooove OMD! Played them all through high school, university, and beyond! At 53, their awesome songs always transport me right back to my youth.
Grew up in the 70's and teenager in the 80's and heard and played this numerous times but honestly never seen this video before.
Was in my 20’s and in college in the eighties…it was a magical time, we just didn’t realize it at the time. I had many dreams for my life back then, and they all came true. It’s just ironic that I pine for those days now, and back then I was striving for the life I have now!

Fantastic song, stands up today as it did back then. An amazing band and pioneers in Electronic music. Thanks to them and others like them, we have the most extensive spectrum of music at our fingertips. #OMD were game changers and visionary.

From the start of the 80s I was a fan of OMD and 40 years on, still am a fan. Andy, Paul, Malcolm, Martin are talented in so many fields, and it was great to see them at Sheffield early 80s. Their shows are fab, and the energy, especially Andy dancing/passion great (where does he get his stamina?). One of the best concerts I have been to, never stopped dancing. Leeds Festival in 2021, where OMD will be playing among other 80s bands ie. ABC, Heaven 17,Sister Sledge, Howard Jones, Tony Hadley, Kim Wilde, T`Pau, The Beat etc. will be on. Go OMD!

After listening to this a few times, it's the backing track that's the genius. The vocals are, at best ineffectual, or to my mind an unwanted diversion of a lovely tune.
This song reminds me of a camping trip my parents took me and my brothers on in a scorching summer holiday when i was about 6 happy memeories
I remember listening to this on cassette tape sometimes in my Sony boom box and sometimes on my walkman. Sometimes I'd lip sync to this in the mirror. Great stuff. Thanks.

I never realized it at the time at how the lyrics to this song were a fairly good representation to being a teenager in the 80s. Were we ever lucky to have experienced those times.
