    Oh my goodness, love you two! Just bought the BB Unit for my Son's birthday and it stopped working after we got back form the pool. My wife and I were crushed based on how much this puppy costs. Turns out the first fix worked! Thanks soo much!

      They do not react to other droids at all outside of the Disney Park. The needed signals to let them interact only exist there. They do random beeps, but thats it.

    Thanks so much for this super helpful video - we got our droid at Galaxay’s edge in March, the week before Covid lock downs....we struggled with it (probably due to stress) and never really got it up and going. Nice and informative. For the controller I have seen that the redundant buttons do different things in the R units. Top left and right turn the dome and the bottom turns the body. One of the noise buttons does the accessory sound effects on the R unit for the jets and blasters.

    Hello. It is now December 2021 and I am just watching this. I built an R series droid at Galaxy's Edge 3 months ago and I absolutely love it! I would like to build another, but I am undecided whether to build a BB or R series droid. I didn't get the backpack as I didn't know about them until I got home,but I can't wait to go back. I will bring my droid with me for sure!. P.S. please bring your droid to HS with you the next time you are there. It would be fun to see him respond. When I was there,my droid was interacting with other droids on the Disney bus!

    the red button for any droid that isn't a bb unit, will turn just the head and the side arrows on the bottom would turn the body. But since the bb unit follows the head this does not apply to them and does the same thing.

    I just got one. I was happy to see the controls... I was worried my buttons under the red weren’t working properly/not moving him properly. I originally wanted purple, but ended up with the original color (orange). Now I kind of wish I would’ve gotten purple. 😂 They are so hard to open. I had mine turned off at the depot. Is it better to keep him turned off when not using? It’s such a pain to open/close him. Thanks in advance.

    Nice video! Just made my BB unit today. I was wondering how the “automatic 5-minutes turn off” works. I’m at the hotel now, haven’t used the droid for hours, but I just turned on the control to test if the bluetooth was still enabled, pressed the sound button on the remote control and the droid made a sound. Should I need to open the droid and turn off the switch manually for disabling it? Does it keeps spending battery if turned on? What’s the difference between both? Thanks!

    I built an R2 series unit at Disneyland 18 Sept 2019. I found it works well on hard surfaces but does not like carpet, at least longer pile type, so it is the opposite of the BB type. As another writer said, the remote is more adapted to the R2 series in that the blue buttons control forward / reverse and turning, the red rectangle spins the head, the lower red button the sound and the up red button the options features like the rockets. I missed the personality chips while there an hope they may be available on line soon. I expect to see someone reverse engineer them and maybe create other options depending on the complexity of the sound circuits. I am also waiting to see if a smartphone bluetooth interface app becomes available.

    • @georgemells2354
      @georgemells2354 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@madair219 I wish I had a better recommendation but it might be the pairing with the remote. The droid doesn't do much when first turned on. This is a link to the instruction sheet that is more informative than the ones on the bottom of the build it yourself box.
      secure.cdn1.wdpromedia.com/dam/disneyland/shops/disneyland/droid-depot/R2-D2-Instruction-Sheet-060419.pdf
      Maybe it will help if the problem is the pairing.

    So is there a way to not keep opening the case and turning on and off switch just to wake him up from sleep mode. Don't you think that's a drag? But when we were at the park it didn't have that problem. It will wake up just by controlling the remote. Even being in sleep mode. What do you guys think? I mean that's a big drag to keep opening the case just to wake him up. I'm sure there's a way to wake him up without doing all that work. That's an ugly design if thats the casw

    If anyone's having trouble with their bb8 bot, here's how to set it up when you first get it. (there were no instructions in our box, or on the box like i've seen elsewhere online) You need to PAIR the remote to the bot before it'll work. Find the power switch on the bot and hit the search button as they show in this video. The important step they leave out is you have to hold those two buttons they show WHEN YOU TURN IT ON. You can't turn it on and hold those two buttons down, you do it while its off.. Then turn it on while you're already pressing them. Did this and it finally paired after i was about to return the silly thing.

      Hi what if that still doesn’t work but the remote is flashing and the droid makes noise so I don’t think it’s dead but they aren’t pairing

    I should’ve got two-
    When I was at the park he wouldn’t stop moving in the bag and that’s because there others around him and now he won’t make noise- never mind he’s talking again

    Just so you know I heard your supposed to turn him off before you put the personality chip in after you shut him off because if you don’t the chip will probably fry 👍
