Forget chemicals. Put some liquid soap on a screwdriver blade. Slips right in. Just work it around the bar a little and the grip slips right off undamaged. Easy clean up afterwards.
LOL My 90 year old grandma could take that soft loose grip off.... I need a real video that shows how to take off an old hard grip with an end on it without damaging it.
Thanks for the tip! I just installed a G2 Street Comp tube on my Buell 1125R street bike because of a track crash that I had in October that reduced the mobility in my right wrist. Curious, what is the largest cam that I can run in the 1125 without modification to the housing? Cheers.
Thanks for the tip. That red thing attached to the WD-40's nozzle is not a "tube," it is a "straw." WD-40 is not a lubricant. Despite this deficiency I find it can be used for a surprising number of tasks. Not just Water Displacement (as it is named for), but also good at removing grease and cleaning sticky price tag residue off items.
This is how the mechanics at the bike shop I frequent do it. They just use air from their compressor and a narrow attachment to blow air in from the side of the grip toward the center of the bike.
Okay now tell me how to remove one where it has Aluminum built into it and with an integrated bar end. Exactly, you can't. "The throttle genius" my ass.
Perfect. Everyone else screams cut cut cut the grips but I like to save every stock part. Nice vid!
Exactly! It's a huge deal when you are selling a bike to have the stock parts
@@jimlahey426 they're grips tho
Uhhh he did this with an OPEN END grip, DUHHHHH!! Anyone can do that, most grips arent open end!!!
tried a lot of stupid stuff before just using wd40, worked like a charm. thank you
This is amazing. This method was so fast, clean and simple. Thank you.
Another of your excellent demonstrations.
0:21 anyone hear "we are gonna use DEPUTY 40" ?
What if the grips are not open ended?
Great idea, it won't work on something like the KX 85 though surly? They are well and truly on

+st8kout1 And liquid soap isnt a chemical? ;-)
my left, upgraded grip is loose. it freely spins. any recommendations?
Johnny Marshall Degrease it and put it on again. :-) You can even put some glue on it.
Thanks
Bro, perfect method, thanks.
What about removing a heated grip that was put on incorrectly?
That's easy, thanks, but can you tell us how to remove a 'closed end' grip without ruining it?
Would a heat gun work?
I have seen lots of people melt their grips with a heat gun. It might help but be careful.
Compressed air works awesome to remove the grips. Way easier and better than wd40.
Don't explain about one that's not open ended and don't mention what bonding agent to use.....some real good info there

Don't have to just use WD-40. You can use Glass Cleaner in the same way or soapy water. Some people use an air compressor with an air nozzle.

Uhhhhhh...where's the one with the slider ends on them? Do I cut those Allen wrenched slider ends off the brand new grips?
Worked great, thank you
Nice job.
Thank you! ❤
great method especially when your bike is new and you dont want to just cut the original grips
Or you have heated grips that are Friggin expensive to replace
Nicely explained sir
Has anyone done this without braking Oxford heated grips?
Works great, thank you!
Great information mate!
Your method works perfectly, thanks a lot!
Good information
How do I fix the driver window on the motorcycle?
Elijah and daddy depends... is the motorcycle left hand drive or right hand drive ?
Helpful, thanks!
Simple. Clever. Thanks.

Thanks.
harder than most cases
VERY HELPFUL THANK YOU
Thanks champ!
I used a can of compressed air (like for cleaning keyboards) instead of WD40.
This is how the mechanics at the bike shop I frequent do it. They just use air from their compressor and a narrow attachment to blow air in from the side of the grip toward the center of the bike.
Hello sir ❤
done it the hard way ..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay now tell me how to remove one where it has Aluminum built into it and with an integrated bar end. Exactly, you can't. "The throttle genius" my ass.
