Thank you, I have this exact same pens and I was using them very wrong, more like markers, but now I see they're totally just like watercolours. Thank you!!
What paper are you using for this? Interested because the pen strokes seem to dissolve well when water is applied and I have found that a lot of paper (even watercolour paper) is prone to staining from felt tip pens and the original pen strokes are always visible after water is applied.
We used watercolour paper (cold pressed with a thickness of at least 300 gsm). In this video in fact we used watercolour paper from Canson and Hahnemühle as you can see here: th-cam.com/video/EZyNglCeFyM/w-d-xo.html Best regards, Sonja from STAEDTLER
Noticing that these videos, including this one, do not say anything of the type paper being used. This, I'm guessing will make a difference with how moveable the ink is after it is applied to the paper. Or am I wrong?
That's right, the paper you use affects how the ink behaves once it's applied. Since the availability of paper varies between countries, we have decided not to name any papers directly. We recommend cold-pressed watercolour paper with a thickness of at least 300sqm. Canvas or normal paper is not suitable for painting with watercolours. Best regards, Sonja from STAEDTLER
No, the "mixing palette" is not included in one of the sets. It is a paper printout that was laminated and cut to size. Best regards, Sonja from STAEDTLER
It’s not permanent. If you draw with the pens, the other pigments / the other colour will fade. Clean your tips by drawing on a piece of paper until the tip has only its own colour. Best regards, Sonja from STAEDTLER
Wow I am so excited about this course. I am clueless and have been watching so many videos how to get started and what I need. I just tried a set exactly as you are using in this video (new purchase after watching this video last week). So this time I tried them on 300gm 140 lb cold press watercolor paper by Canson and Arches. I also tried them on a 270 gm watercolor paper. I could not get them to blend out very much at all and tried everything you demonstrated. I was so disappointed-again! I returned them today. I do not understand why I have no success with these. I did buy a Staedtler waterbrush and it works fine. I
The Water Brush 949 (www.staedtler.com/intl/en/products/products-for-artists/accessories-for-artists/staedtler-949-water-brush-949-sbk4-c/) isn´t part of the brush pen set and can be bought additionally. Of course you can use a normal brush with water as well 💙 Best regards, Sonja from STAEDTLER
We recommend to store all liquid ink pens horizontally to allow an immediate writing start. If fibre-tipped pens are stored with the tip upwards for a too long period of time, it can be that the ink flows back and the pens seem to be dried out. Best regards, Sonja from STAEDTLER

I feel it is important to point out how the pens react on certain papers.
very underrated video, i didn't know how to use my brush pen set until now! i had no clue it acted so much like water color
Glad it was helpful!
Where could one get the mixing thing shown at 5:30? Does it come with one of the sets?
No, the "mixing palette" is not included in one of the sets. It is a paper printout that was laminated and cut to size.

違う色のペン先を 合わせて 色を 混ぜてるけど
ペン先 染まっちゃわないのかな?
次使う時 混ざった色にならないですか?

Is the paper printout, that was used for the mixing, available as a download? If so, can you please share the link? Thank you!

It didnt blend for me either🥲
@@constancafernandes4808 thank you for sharing that…now I know its not just me.
my set doesn't come with the clear one so do i just use a normal brush/water for that?

Hey do you have to use a watercolor brush or can you use just a paintbrush?
Hello Nadine, both are possible. For example with our STAEDTLER® 989
Synthetic brush or STAEDTLER® 949 Water brush. Best regards, Lara from STAEDTLER
@@STAEDTLERpencils Thanks for replying that really helped.
Can you tell me the best way to store the brush pens? Is it best to store them on there side or standing up?
We recommend to store all liquid ink pens horizontally to allow an immediate writing start. If fibre-tipped pens are stored with the tip upwards for a too long period of time, it can be that the ink flows back and the pens seem to be dried out.

What happens when the pens run out of pigment? Can you refill them. Seems a huge waste if you can’t
