Thank you for teaching me how to clean my water brush! There's mold growing in there and it's so gross, but I didn't want to ruin the brush by taking it apart. Thank you!
Tomorrow's the start of World Watercolor Month! One of our favorite tools to use for watercoloring is a water brush. Have you tried them before? Check out our other watercolor videos in the description!
I am a begginer who recently bought a sketchbook and interested to do some painting for stress reliever. Since I might ended up get smudged by the water color, I was thinking to use water brush to save my clothes before it get ruins. Your explanation is clear and very easy to follow fill with Do and Don't for water brush owner. Thank you for the fantastic video!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my water brush!!! I took it travelling and used it with water color pencils. It was SOOO convenient and handy and fun to use!! I highly recommend getting one or two. They are so fun to play with!!
I have some I got from a friend who passed away and I didn’t know any of this ... thank you ... the video shows it all very clearly along with the instructions
Me: *been having them for almost a year, never properly washed them, always has them stored with water while having long periods of time where they weren't being used* Thank you for the video! Really needed this!
Thanks for this. Probably the only tutorial I've seen on how to clean the brush in order to change colours. A lot of tutorials show using different brushes for different colours.
I bought a set of water-brushes for my artistically-inclined girlfriend on her birthday, and we had no idea. Thanks for an easy-to-follow tutorial on how to use and care for these!
omg thank you! a few months ago i bought some as an artist who want's to expand their art materials and did not know how to use them. This was such an amazing video thanks for the help!
I have a water brush and I didn’t know how to use it. TH-cam put this video in my recommendation, and now I am pretty sure this video will help me a lot. Thanks!
These work well with water soluble graphite, too. I like to use the ArtGraf one that comes in the little round tin. You can pick up graphite from the tin, paint into the top, and add water to dilute and make lighter values. Or, take it straight from the tin to make the darkest values.
I have one of their little bricks. Lotta fun. I'd like to get some colored ones someday perhaps. I haven't seen the tins you speak of maybe I'll try one of those.
i brought some waterbrushes a year ago and never used them because i didn’t know how. I found this guide, and i feel pretty confident now in how to use them! Thanks so much!
i just brought a watercolor set and it came with waterbrush, i have zero clue of how to use it since it's new to me, thank you so much for teaching me about it 🙇
I like when videos get right to the point and waste no time with intros. This video is almost perfect. The content is perfect and has excellent information and a great narrator. I didn't know that I could take my brush tip apart like that. I've been cleaning the bristles with brush soap and water after each use like regular brushes. My only problem with it is the music. Many videos on TH-cam use similar repetitive bouncy music like this and I find it annoying. But it was worth watching because the information was excellent.
I tend to use my waterbrush to soften the edges of my painting, make smaller wash areas for wet on wet, and add color to areas I forgot. Sometimes I'll use it to drop water into the mix I'm using to paint with if it's started to dry out, but I'm concerned with adding too much water. The cleaning tips here are super useful, so I'll have to keep them in mind!
I would love a more detailed video on how to use (how to paint) with the water brushes and water paint brushes. I have some and have experimented but a how to actually do a watercolor painting video would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I've had a waterbrush set for a few weeks now, I thought I knew what I was doing until I actually tried it. Thanks so much for making this vid. Now I know what to do and how to use them ☺
I LOVE my water brushes!!! I have 8 different sizes and shapes. There aren't many things I can't paint with them. Though I have more "normal" brushes than I can count, I can't say I've used any of them in months. I keep a small kit of paints, a small watercolor journal, and a few water brushes in my purse so I can paint something when I'm out and inspired. It would be difficult to do that with my other brushes and a jar of water.
Waterbrushes are amazing! Sprinkle pigment powder inside. Then fill with water, boom! Instant watercolor. They work great with Gelatos as well. Ooh also the stabilo all pencil. Graphite too! I always have a few ready to go!
Ohhh wow I always wondered if I could get the bristles out for cleaning. Never tried it for fear of breaking my brushes. Thanks for sharing this with us especially with the deep cleaning section!!
6:15 see how in the tube the water turned blue. the water in the tube mixes with the color on the bristles so any tips on how to keep the water in the tube clean?? if the water colors then it mixes with other paints too
I believe the water in the tube is unclean because the bristle wasn't cleaned properly. You can prevent that by swiping the water brush on a piece of towel, sponge or cloth until the mark it makes is transparent.
Hi there! The water in the tube did not turn blue. The water brush's body and body components are all blue, so the water appears to be blue when it is actually clear.
LOL... IM USING BRUSHPENS SINCE YEARS BUT DIDNT KNOW I CAN OPEN UP THE BRUSH AND CLEAN IT😅 THE MOMENT I SAW IT, I DID IT😅... GREAT VIDEO AND NICE INFOS AND HELP!!😁
These tips helped a lot, but I have one question when I use my water brush for one color then use another it mixes with a standard brush I dip it in water how about the water brush?
Hi there! When using a water brush, it's recommended you squeeze the water reservoir (the main body) a few times to wet/wash the brush hairs/tip, dabbing the liquid and paint on a tissue or paper towel. Continue this process until there is no more paint remaining in the brush tip. Then, you can drip the brush into a new color.
I rarely used my waterbrush because it is kinda hard to squeeze it and sometimes I end up muddying the water inside the barrel And when I do use it, I use it when I draw with fountain pen
1:50 huh? When I use that pump water brush, I thought it was broken, and I pull out that pump thing and put them back on the head (the brush) is that ok?
Thank you very much for the information! Before I thought that if the water dripped around the bristles of the brush it was because it was defective, but I'm seeing that this is normal. What one learns!
Brilliant film and tells you what you need to know to get started I especially like the peas on cleaning old brushes because two of mine are clogged up and they mess my hands up crazy! Thank you All well done happy New Year. tim.
Hi, there thank you to teach me how to use a water brush I have pentel Vistage one. But I really didn't know how to use it before but Now I learned. it as clear as crystal. And now new subscriber from Malaysia
i just bought my first set of watercolors and my first water brushes thanks for the tutorial i usually use heavy body acrylic paint to paint with so i figure why not give this a try at least once i may like it never know
Thank you very much for the video! I bought watercolor paint years ago and have no idea how to paint and just this week I bought a watercolor brush and have no idea how to use it either 🤣 I want to start learning but been only hoarding the materials hahaha
I got the Kuretake Little Red Gift Set for my cousin for Christmas and with help from this video I can show her how to use a water brush. She’s only like 6 years old but I already asked the question of whether it’s a kid-friendly product or not and they said yes!
Hey you know how you fill it with water what if you fill it with paint so insted of making a palette dirty you can just squeeze for more paint im 99°/• sure it would work
I find the mold and algae give my paintings a new active texture. The living paint changes the picture as it grows. Eventually I didn't have to decide what to paint. As it gained intelligence it made its own shapes no matter how hard I would try. I am hoping that it will evolve enough to where I don't even have to paint anymore as it just does it. I'll come home one day and there'll be a brand new painting that wasn't there when I left! Exciting! However, I do worry that if I don't praise the work I'll end up like Stephen King in the end of Creepshow. I'm just glad my name isn't Seymour!
Don’t know if I missed it, but when I dip the water brush in a color and then want to change colors, won’t I be mixing the first color into the second color on my pallet. Not sure if I am explaining this correctly, but I have a water brush and I dipped it in orange and then wanted to dip it in green but got orange on my green. Should I be wiping the brush on scrap paper to get the orange off.
Hi there! Yes, we recommend wiping the brush on scrap paper or a tissue while squeezing the body to wash out the orange before dipping into another color.
I've bought 2 pins, both at different locations. Neither one of them will open as the video shows. I've bought 1st one at Hobby Lobby, it did nor open. The ones I've bought has the threads to be twisted able the black area of the pin that holds the brush. Have you by chance have some that were defective? Please help. At this point I'm better off using my paint brush. I was so excited to find one, then this happens. Thank you...
