Always open oil filter housing to let it drain to sump and then close sump. Also you don't have to take the pipes off the fuel filter housing, just bend it back enough to remove the filter and you don't need to add diesel into it just prime it with the ignition on a couple of times before starting it.

You should open the Oil Filter before removing the Oil Drain Plug, more oil comes out of it, around 200mL

    • @domworks

Yes I agree with you, usually I do it but in this case I've done wrongly the drain first.. Thanks for the advice!

Fuel filter change was almost correct. I remove the diesel in the filter housing and put in a glass jar to check for stuff that should be in there, Like metal. I have a hand held vacuum pump that I use on breaks and stuff lie this. Wipe out the filer housing with a white cloth so you can check it to for stuff that doesn't belong. This is also removes any water.

Although you can reset the oil sevice light by what you are showing you can't always reset the one that says "service now". Depending on how long it has been on you might have to use a scanner.

Always wanted one of these 8p.5 A3’s but was worried about the oil consumption issues in the 2.0T petrol engine but after watching this video I’m now considering the 2.0 TDI diesel engine. The diesels seem more common in my area and seem decently priced/optioned out. Wondering if I should make this my next daily driver coming from an Mk6 Vw Jetta 2.5L engine.. Anyone on here owned both the Mk6 Vw Jetta 2.5L and the 8p.5 Audi A3 2.0TDI and could provide comparison thoughts in maintenance/reliability as well as their own personal thoughts about the 2 cars? Always been a big fan of this A3 model

I can surely tell you that in 30k from the previous service i didn't add even one drop of oil :) Like always, it depends on the owners and how they treat their babies :)
