If LeBron is as great as he says he is why is the NBA at an all-time ratings low since the 1980s, every other sport is exploding. Why are women’s college basketball getting triple the ratings of the NBA finals?
-- IMO the low rating is...the NBA creating a softer product. My friends and I enjoyed the Olympics b/c there was minimal flopping and physical play. If the NBA enforced travels and just followed playoff basketball rules, the NBA would be way more enjoyable during the regular season. The fact no one watched him in 2020, I think, is evidence he’s not the second best player either. I mean it’s not like he was too old, he was 35. He was the same age Jordan was when he set the record for viewership in 1998. Now, imagine that was during the pandemic. Look at the ratings just for the documentary of it during the pandemic. Now imagine it’s Magic Johnson in the finals during the pandemic, you think no one‘s watching? Larry Bird is playing for his fourth championship during the pandemic, no one‘s watching? Kobe Bryant? We need to start having honest conversations about why LeBron has such a hard time beating really good teams when it matters. We all know LeBron in his prime could be a one-man team and win a lot of games with a lot role players. But that’s not the objective of the game. For instance, the objective of chess is to checkmate your opponent and win the match. It’s not to see how many chess pieces you can kill with your queen regardless of the outcome and use that as evidence you belong higher in the rankings than guys who aren’t as naturally gifted at the game, and might not crush lesser opponents nearly as easy as you do, but who find ways to win vs the best players when it counts. Yes, Chess is single play lnand basketball is not. But if Lebron is ‘the guy’ that means he gets the credit AND takes the blame, otherwise he’s not ‘the guy,’ and he doesn’t belong in the conversation. And this is LeBron’s MO, he’ll lose and then say “but look at my stats, couldn’t have been me, had to be the other guys.” *OR* maybe (just maybe) it’s that your stats are exactly that, just stats. But if your goal is to actually overcome a difficult obstacle and beat a team that actually might have a bit more talent than your team well, then, your stats need to actually mean something. Oh look, Lebron averaged nine rebounds in the series. Well, how important to the outcome of the game were those rebounds? Cause the box score also shows 7.5 of them were defensive. You know, the ones your team is in better position to get. The ones you can sometimes acquired simply by being on floor in the right place at the right time, often after your teammates do all the work boxing out and letting you snag the ball then chalk it up to your ‘greatness’. Those aren’t the rebounds you have to scrap and fight for position to get. Or the ones that earn your team second chance opportunities that can swing a game’s momentum. Those aren’t the ones that can be pivotal in determining the outcome of a big game or series, particularly against teams who can burn you on the offense end (cough cough 2017 Golden State). “Did you see?!? Lebron had 29pts on 56% from the field last night!” Amazing! How many of those made field goals were from outside 5ft of the basket? Why’d 18 of them come in the first half? Is the reason he only had 6pts in the 4th bc a great team like the Spurs locked down the paint and forced him to shoot outside shots and free throws? These are the nuanced reasons I believe Lebron’s box scores should be taken into account when looking at his losses in playoff series, but by no means should ever ascend him to “2nd best player of all time.” Do ppl bring up Jordan’s stats in the series that he lost? They do. But as largely irrelevant footnote. As another ridiculous thing MJ did in the 80s that most ppl forgot about. As a piece of trivia you might be interested to know. Not as any kind of legitimate reason he was the best basketball player ever. If Jordan averaged 29ppg instead of 40ppg vs the Celtics in ‘86 it wouldn’t change a damn thing. Meanwhile, Lebron fans love to bring up his ‘lack of help’ and they love to bring up 3 straight losses to Detroit but they won’t bring up the fact Jordan in Game 7 of the 1990 ECF went 13 for 27 (47%) for 31pts while the rest of the team went 15 for 63 from the field (that’s 24%). Or that of his teammates 15 FG, MJ assisted 9 of them. And neither do Jordan fans. Bc that isn’t important. What’s important is the fact he came back and swept them the next year and proceeded to win 24 of the remaining 25 playoff series in his career. So I apologize for the diatribe here but after digging more into the history of basketball this past year and a half, I find it more and more egregious ppl have been tricked into believing Lebron has been SOOO great that the only player he hasn’t surpassed in NBA history is Michael Jordan. Bc he hasn’t. And even tho that IS just my opinion, I was born 30 miles outside CLE (just like Lebron) exactly after Lebron and spent almost my entire adult life desperately rooting for him to be the GOAT so, I feel it’s a pretty objective one

@@cycleoflife565 He’s as desperate as trump wants and needs the Presidency to stay out of jail, Bron wants to be considered GOAT, neither will ever achieve
What's makes it even more cringe is how much ZEST he put on it. This dude is uber corny. He isn't even in my TOP 5 so he can forget about being a GOAT. The deer should focus on shining his platinum antlers, as Rich Paul once said. EDIT: LeBron's on court play has directly contributed to us losing just as it has winning. We see him not playing defense, turning the ball over, not coming through late in games, ignoring head coaches, flopping like a fish out of water, crying and throwing temper tantrums to the refs, traveling, etc. WE SEE ALL OF IT!!!
LeBron fools people with his stats. But he only gets his stats because he demands the ball so much and, at his age, it's a detriment to his team. He could do that at his peak, because he was easily the best player in the game, now he's clearly not that same player. The US team is a great example of this. Look at that roster, it was absolutely stacked with elite talent, so stacked that Jayson freakin Tatum hardly saw the court. The man just brought a championship to his city and he was relegated to the bench on Team USA. By all rights that team should have run rampant in the Olympics, and yes there are far more NBA players on other teams now but none of them were anywhere close to as stacked with talent as the US. Serbia basically had Jokic and Bogie as good NBA players (obviously Jokic is THE best NBA player) and two other NBA bench warmers. But Jokic is the only guy from that team who would for sure make the US team if he were American. None of the others would sniff US selection if they were born in that country. So the US should have absolutey obliterated them, instead they found themselves DOWN 20+ points and only a nuclear explosion by the name of Stephen Curry saved them. LeBron simply takes opportunities away from teammates and that costs his team. He is too selfish to give up his stats because 'muh legacy' so he will never relinquish that role. AD should have taken the reigns of the Lakers years ago but LeBron refuses to give it to him. AD took just 11 shots in the elimination game vs Nuggets in the last playoffs, he shot over 73% doing it. LeBron took 21 shots and, sure, shot well at 52% but that's still 21% LESS than what AD was shooting. The Lakers would lose that game by just two points. What is wrong with that situation? I don't think that's a hard question to answer....

It’s impossible to tell LeBron he is great because he won’t stop telling you long enough. that’s the problem with over ranking yourself. LeBron is the most narcissistic, insecure and entitled athlete we have ever seen in sports. He would be getting nothing but praise however he would be ranked somewhere between five and 10 all time. He’s not actually a top five player. He is a marginal top 10 player who has just been propped up more than anyone in the history of any sport.
Bingo. He couldve been top 3 all time had he 4 peated in miami, but he didnt even threepeat. I dont understand how bronsexuals cant see that he needed to at least threepeat with that heat team. The fact jordan 3peated twice with a straight up mediocre squad... how can anyone rate bron over jordan. I also think a lot of people get very overhyped about the 2016 finals, saying thats the greatest player humanity has ever seen for a series, but they straight up lose that series if draymond and bogut dont get suspended. And it took kyrie hitting a verrrrrry clutch three to seal the deal. Many people also ignore that lebron is literally two three pointers away from only having 2 chips to his name, and he didnt hit either of those 3s or assist on them
@@AnthonyHough-f7t so, that means he was the best player on his team. That team nearly got beaten TWICE in succession, saved both times by historic shooting performances from one of his teammates. If Steph was not on that team they lose to Serbia, straight up. With as much talent as that US team had, LeBron being the supposed best player and the team struggling to beat much lesser teams points to something being very much out of whack.....and that is, if 39yo LeBron is ACTING like your best player, you got problems. People are fooled by the stats he put up but that is his entire goal, put up stats and just hope his team wins. If his team does win, he gets the W and nice stats and people are then wrongly putting two and two together and saying LeBron was the key to those successes. Incorrect. His team won DESPITE his selfish play.
The AUDACITY he has to constantly call HIMSELF the GOAT. Like my God, if it were like a Ryan Crouser situation (the undisputed shotputting GOAT) I would understand but this isn’t that. Its sad because his debate requires that past players be put down and called plumbers to uplift the current gen of basketball that gets worse ratings than college womens ball. LeFraud's arrogance is bigger than his so-called "talent." His game? Solely driving to the rim for layups. Consistent midrange and post moves? What's that? Watching him is like enduring a one-trick pony's act. And his "killer instinct"? When the game's on the line, LeFrozen fades into obscurity. He lacks the true skills MJ had. Not to mention, he got rescued time and time again by his teammates. Ray's miracle shot in the 2013, Kyrie's clutch shot in 2016, and D Wade's contributions during their time together in Miami. Without them, LeChoke would have a much bleaker legacy. Yet he delusionally believes he's the *"GOAT,"* even after being outplayed and outscored by TWO role players in his prime during the 2011 Finals and racking up 6 Finals losses. Shoutout to the late great Walter Peyton. I never got to see him play live, but growing up on NFL VHS documentaries (because I wanted to learn more about the game of football), I was impressed by his greatness. I know it is for me when I gotta make excuses for Draymond's behavior. I've just given up at this point lol
Lebron has practically been stat padding his fame and stats the last 3 years. He clearly doesn’t care about winning or losing as his “it’s just basketball” comment proved it. His game has deteriorated so much these last 3 years but no one talks about it because he has managed to cover up those holes in his game with flops, no call offensive fouls, and having his team make up for his unbelievable lack of participation on defense. Yet his stats stay the stay same (with much less impact might I add) so bronsexuals keep saying his longevity is busted because he has barely lost any production over the years which with context is completely false. He is not even in the same realm of a defensive player that he used to be due to lack of effort, but every once in a while he will try on defense and get himself a defensive stat or two. It’s ridiculous. Himself and his fans have made it so unbelievably difficult to like him, also Lebron fans that believe he is just confident, Jordan who people believe to be massively confident was never saying he was the goat, there is a difference between confidence, arrogance, and cockiness. That’s just a fact.
Why are we acting like Jordan didn't embrace the nickname Black Jesus? Why are we acting like he didn't care about being regarded as the greatest (per the report by Walton of him arguing with Chamberlain at NBA 50 instead of embracing the legends of the game prior). Why do we pretend like its an individual sport and Lebron, not the Lakers, haven't had playoff success outside of a title. I am a MASSIVE fan of Muhammad Ali and will die on the hill that he is by far, the greatest athlete of all-time. But it is complete nonsense to say that Ali, who hadn't even changed his name yet, was justified in calling himself the GOAT in 1964 when he began proclaiming it. He achieved an all-time victory over Sonny Liston, but it is FARRRRRRR more disrespectful for him in that situation to call himself the greatest over guys like Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Robinson, or Joe Louis. When looking at it from an unbiased perspective, Lebron is right there with Jordan. A young Ali, meanwhile, was no where close to being the greatest boxer of all-time, a sport that is FAR harder to obtain greatness in than basketball.

Michael Jordan’s last game on the Bulls is still the highest rated basketball game in the history of humanity since we’ve been keeping that stat.
As for GOATs, Kareem? 6 MVPS, 6 chips, 2 FMVP, 3 NCAA championships.
MJ? 5 MVPs, 6 chips, 6 FMVPs, 1 NCAA Championships.

Fantastic comment.

Uncommon Cents fan? Gotta love how disrespectful these LeBron "fanbois" are
LeBron fools people with his stats.

I never got to see him play live, but growing up on NFL VHS documentaries (because I wanted to learn more about the game of football), I was impressed by his greatness. He's one of 4 football players who could play in any era and still ball out. Oh and having to do damage control whenever Lebron makes these statements must be exacerbating. I know it is for me when I gotta make excuses for Draymond's behavior. I've just given up at this point lol
Hey man if you don’t mind I would like to know who you think those 3 other players are.
Calling a six time finals loser a goat 🐐 it's laughable😂😂😂😂😂
Enough from the clown

That’s just a fact.
lol so what 🤷🏾♂️ if he believes that he is tf
LeFruad, no true goat wears pearl chokers or crosses his legs like that! MJ 23 would never!
Ur perspective is so biased and you cant even see it, no wonder ur a lebron fan
@@lemonscentedgames3641 How about instead of assuming I'm a Lebron fan, which I'm not, you actually give insight on why my perspective is biased.
Yeah man I’m in Indiana just near the border of Michigan and I know exactly what day you’re talking about. It really just came out of nowhere.
Bron is the greatest basketballer of the 2000s if their is anyone who has a right to call himself GOAT you cant look past him...i dont know why it triggers a random guy😂😂
Maybe think with your brain and eyes instead of your phone.
MJ said that he can't call himself the greatest because he never played against other greats in other eras. Meanwhile, LeBron's running around in the softest era with 4 rings in 10 tries...one of them a Bubble ring, trying to beg everyone to call him the greatest. 😂😂😂
Y’all grown men getting mad on behalf of MJ because Bron, the consensus number 2 player ever, thinks he’s at the number one spot.
Y’all this mad FOR Michael Jordan whole time if u tried to take a pic wit him he’d laugh in ya face 😭😭
It’s just atp why do you care
Hes not the consensus number 2 player. Plenty of people dont have him there and its really easy to argue he doesnt belong there. Bron fans just spew nonsense like its facts. Its jordan number 1 and then a lot of debate.
Its funny because a fan did try to take a pic with lebron and lebron got pissed, yelled at the kid, has his entourage yell at the kid, and then he did a douchebag dance in front of the media after berating a fan😂😂😂 meanwhile theres clips of kids finding MJ walking into the stadium begging for autographs and he signs them. But sure, keep assuming things about a guy who also doesnt care about you, same exact position you claim were in. Maybe think harder next time little guy
@@lemonscentedgames3641 idc if Bron takes a picture with a kid or not because idc about Bron like y’all do 😂
The point is y’all be glazin MJ but he do not care for y’all. Maybe he’ll take a picture wit u white kids but he don’t take pictures with 🥷🏿s like he said 😂
If you don’t have Bron as number 2, MAYBE number 3 you’re just delusional borderline slow
