Absolutely. Ghost Love Score is a hauntingly melancholic opera, not a rock song. Tarja captured the feels perfectly, of course she was involved in the creation of this masterpiece

As for Tarja walking off before the end, I think she did that to have enough time to change her dress (which she did 3-4 times during this concert). In the next song "Creek Mary's Blood" she has a new dress.

she was running around with a high fever that night weak and perspiring constantly , running back to wash up and change cloths, coming right back to avoid disappointing her fans, who loved her..when she was fired the band immediately lost 50% of their fan base and Tuomas was assaulted by hundreds of hate maiol letters wishing him grave misfortune...Tarja was loved by the masses

This is Tarja's song, full stop. I like Floor but, I can't relax when she is singing this song. I keep feeling she will slip and fall towards the end.

Tarja made me fall so deeply in love with this song when I first heard it on the "Once" album in 04, it quickly became my favourite song of all time and I was a little skeptical of Floor in the beginning because I wasn't sure she'd do it justice for me.... but man, was I wrong... not only did she take it to the next level, she completely made it her own, she didn't just copy what Tarja had already done with the song. Floor does this with ALL previous NW songs that weren't originally hers and that's why she is my favourite vocalist Nightwish has had.
I still adore both versions of this song and will never skip over it whenever it comes on my playlist, no matter who is singing it.
Plus there are also songs I still to this day prefer Tarja on vocals on over Floor, as her darker, operatic tone fits more.
I remember when this came out as well and I instantly loved this song. I still listen to both versions. I left Nightwish after Dark Passion Play because it wasn't the same but came back after hearing Floor. They are both great on different songs. I know I got grief from people in discord for saying I prefer the Tarja version of Slaying the Dreamer, but we all have different tastes.
@@gzin33 I think if we all had the same tastes this world would be incredibly boring! I stayed around through the Anette years, I actually really loved her albums and her voice, even if most didn't.
I don't think she was given a fair chance, being hired by Tuomas and then being expected to sing Tarja era songs was a little cruel imo.

Though I'm sure when Anette auditioned and got the part, she was probably just really excited to be in such an amazing band. I also understand that Tuomas wanted to get away from operatic vocals, but it back fired, for all parties involved.
Us fans will never know the full story, because from the interview I saw with Anette and A&P Reacts, they most likely will never speak with one another again and "bury the hatchet" as it where.

I love all three singers. All for different reasons. If it wasn't for Tarja. There would be no nightwish. With Annette. She bought a completely different sound. Floor has the whole package. An has brought nightwish to a higher level.

Unlike you fellas, this was my first exposure to Ghost Love Score so I didn't know about the whole "Floorgasm" thing so I loved it. Fast forward several years and I heard the Wacken 2013 version with Floor and wasn't sure what to think at first.😂 It grew on me pretty rapidly though. I personally love how Floor makes the songs new in some ways by doing them her own way. Keeps it fresh and fun. Heck, she even changes it up a little bit from show to show from what I've seen.🤘👍

When I first heard this song it was with Tarja and I fell in love with her and her angelic voice. Then I heard Floor's version and fell in love with her powerful voice. The song is simply amazing, that being said this is one that I prefer Floor's powerful voice in. Thank you for doing both versions : )

The choir comes better in this version: mainly because the band is mixed a bit too loud in the Floor's version. Here the minor detail are heard better

Well, honest opinions asked so here we go. And opinions are per definition personal so for each his/her own. Tarja sings in full operatic mode. Always. In every song. Seeing her perform in GLS she gives me the impression of 'Hey, listen to me singing this song with my operatic voice. Now let's sing the next song with my operatic voice'. In Floor's case I get a very different message. 'Hey, I've got a story to tell and this is how I want to perform it. Now listen to my interpretation of the next song's story'. The difference? Tarja is the Operatic Singer. Floor is the Ultimate Performer.

Tarja definitely has an incredible voice, but Floor is by far the vocal goddess over pretty much anyone I have ever heard. She could sing "Friday" by Rebecca Black and I would be okay listening to it. :) LOL!
It is not very often that a "cover" version (only because it's not floor originally) is better than the original version but this is one of those times. Floor's version is much better because like you said she has a much greater range. Also Floor adds more personality to the delivery with her adding darker styles mixed in. The main difference I found though is that Floor adds her vocals where Tarja lets the choir do all the singing. Floor singing the choir parts on top of her parts. That is not a slight against Tarja as that is how the song was written. I also find Floor much more clear in her operatic delivery where I can understand the words whilst with Tarja although I liked it I didn't always know what she was saying.
I also am not a fan of Tarja's delayed delivery through the who song. It's good through the chorus, it's not wrong (and lots of singers do that live), but it's just that the band is so tight, it just sounds weird to me.
All Nightwish female singers have almost identical vocal range. If you watch vocalist range bideos in YT, Anette has been found with the widest range: she gtes a note lower than Floor, two notes lower than Tarja, and Tarja gets a note higher than Anette and Floor. It's not vocal range that differs them, or makes a good singer.
In Tarja's version the choir is much louder than in Floor's version, and partly the choir was completely removed from Floor's version. Floor is also mixed louder than Tarja, you can hear it well for example with the staccato part. Of course, Tarja had nothing to do with the rearranging. They did all these changes to make Floor's vocals better heard all over the song, to make it a vocalist's song. So yeah, a big difference with the choir.
actually Tarja's range is enormous but she delivers it with more vibrato
I like both singers, besides rhe different styles with Tarja being a bit more classically trained, the main difference for me since both ladies are singing in a language that ia not their native language is the Floor's is accent is less noticable since Dutch and English are from the same language family (Germanic, part of the larger Indo European language family) and even from the same language subgroup with that laguage family(northwestern Germanic which is comprised of Dutch, Frisian, English, and Lowland Scots). Tarja sings beautifylly but her accent is more noticeable sense she is native Finnish speaker and Finnish is in a completely different language family Uralic(which is made up of Finnish, Hungarian, Samoyedic, Mansi, Permic and a few other) which depsite being spoken in parts if Europe is not part of the Indo European language grouping.

Well this is the original version and like everything she does we have the Floor 2.0 version to many Nightwish songs especially when she does them LIVE!! I enjoy both versions and while they are different they are still both wonderful epic presentation. I "prefer" Floor but that is not to say her version is better just different. Another example is Tarja's version of Sleeping Sun LIVE (th-cam.com/video/E_RRMRXJWxI/w-d-xo.html) and then Floor's version at Tampere (th-cam.com/video/rsotlzr9wNw/w-d-xo.html) both are truly great and magical and if you have a "preference' that is fine but both are amazing. Nice one boys (came here after watching Asterism LIVE at the school bar in Beijing) so quite a contrast but that is what is so great about music it is the differences that make it so amazing to appreciate and experience.
Great reaction, I did agree on the preference for the Floor version but back in those days I saw this show live and you're right, it was electric. And I loved every moment of it. Now that it has evolved to what it is, that's magnificent.
For me, Floor's version of Ghost Love Score is the best, but Tarja's version of The Siren is brilliant, too. You could check it out if you're interest.

Especialy here you can see because of she is soley useing her operatic voice she ist always a bit late on the end of a verse. That for me sounds wired as coming to ghost love from Floor's side.
Yeah the song is good with Tarja but, as you said Dave, Floor owned it in a different and more diverse way (stylistically), with more power behind it. In my opinion anyway...
Tarja sang this song in a higher register which sounded more airy...it would have sounded much more powerful had she used her lower register..i love her voice but Floor was great with this piece as well

It's not just Floor's voice, is her presence, the way she tells the story of the songs etc

Yes, and it's not like they're bad singers, it's just that Floor carries the weight of the words by her delivery. It's effective because you can feel what she is feeling with her tone and body language. Tarja looked theatrical, Annette looked like she was singing karaoke and Floor looks like she's on a adventure.

it's kinda weird how Tarja started to sing powerful and her singing become weaker and weaker, since music was progressing stronger and stronger. And she just left when was the top of everything... even it was for a dress, but still is kinda f** up end.
I'm surprised people see it that way, as I honestly found floor's version of GLS to be pretty underwhelming. There were mulitple occasoins where she clearly struggled to try to hit the original high notes, and other parts where she didnt even bother and just sang to a flatter tone which just took away all of the drama.
I think Floor is an amazingly talented singer but I feel a song of this style needs a smotth, controlled vocal style - and great as Floor is I find she has a tendancy to try to push too hard (either with the screaming/belting or by trying to push to notes she just cant hit comfortably) and as a result starts to sound like shes not completely under control of her voice. Most the time that isn't a big issue and in many occasions that vocal style actually complements the aggressive musical style very well. But for more subtle and classical toned songs (llike GLS, Sleeping Sun, etc) I feel she just doesn't have the refinement or control to pull them off.
I know this probably won't be a popular opinion, it's just what I hear when I listen to both singers on those songs.
Tarja has a way better voice, but then again, that is just my opinion, one of my favorite concerts is with Nightwish back in 2000.

ARE TARJA' S SONGS GO BACK AND LISTEN OR WATCH THE DVD FROM WISHES TO ETERNITY FROM 2001 OH AND SLEEPING SUN IS ABSOLUTELY TARJA'S SONG. FLOOR HAS HER MUSIC AND ITS INCREDIBLE AND HONESTLY I WOULDN'T WANT TO HEAR TARJA DO FLOOR'S SONGS EVEN WHEN ANNETTE WAS IN THE BAND STORYTIME / AMARETT/ POET N PENDULUM WERE HER SONGS LETS SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND TWO THE TWO OTHER VOCALIST THAT "CROWN" IS ONE SIZE FITS ALL HELL I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING FLOOR WHEN SHE HAD BLONDE HAIR AND WAS VOCALIST WITH AFTER FOREVER. The only version I can bare to listen to. No shouting either. Floor is a great singer, but is tremendously overrated. I think that's also because people were so relieved Anette was gone, that now they paint this picture of the second coming around Floor. She IS great, but she also has weaknesses and the belting does not fit in every song, this one included.

I was a Tarja fanboy since the late 90's who basically walked away after listening to live stuff from Annette. I thought Tarja was Nightwish, that they were done. When I heard NW got rid of Annette back in 2012, I thought the band was going to amount to a made-for-tv sequel. Nobody could come close to Tarja. I was wrong. Floor is not overrated, she's great. I began to soften my stance and give Nightwish a chance again. I love Tarja, but Floor is a great successor. The two are just as passionate, but have different deliveries. In fact, all the singers sounded good with the music they were assigned.
@@chrishood2793 I think both have strengths and weaknesses the other does not, with that said, Floor kinda scored a lucky break by joining Nightwish and replacing a singer like Anette, who lets face it, the majority were more than happy to see gone. Also, Floor is VERY SMART, she KNOWS what she needs to do in order to stand out and make it to Tarja's level by adding all of these belts here and there. In my opinion, its too much and overrated and does not fit in many places at all, but Ghost Love Score was great.
@@FemaleMetalLover I don't think it's too much because it resonates with so many people. There's a lot of dynamics in GLS and just like the music, Floor adapts to these contrasts which is what Nightwish music is all about. That's why I think Tarja does well with songs like Sleeping Sun because it doesn't require a high level of contrasting elements. Tarja is awesome and she has gotten even better over the years, but if people love and accept Floor, even after a powerhouse like Tarja, she deserves the praise she receives. At the end of the day, Nightwish is strong.

Floor and the band work better as a unit. Tarja never felt like she was in the band, just with the band. I prefer Floor over her, but to each their own.
The band dynamic is so much better, definitely. I think Floor is just one of the guys. I think they're also impressed by her, but she is just as impressed by them. She respects Tuomas with the songwriting and sounds humbled. I think they really think of her as family.

Tuomas always said that Tarja was like a family member, but he never listened to her concerns and thats why she wanted to branch out...when her manager stated her terms , Tuomas bulked and said that she is a diva ...i suspect that once Floor begins to object he will have similar attitude toward her...hoping that it doesn't come to fruition for Floor's sake

This is definitely one of the Tarja era songs that belongs entirely to Floor now. In most cases I prefer Tarja on the stuff she sang on, mainly from the first 3 or 4 albums, but the Once album is where their style started to change to what they sound like now, and it suits Floor better. When I hear this version, it doesn't sound right to me, but probably because I heard Floor's version first, and she took a very different approach to many of the parts.
The cool thing in this performance, is there are some great harmonies that had to get left out for Wacken because of getting lost among 82,000 people screaming. I mean, Floor really doesn't need harmony to sound good, and she took it to the next level for sure, but I still love the original harmony to this, and Tarja's voice is hauntingly beautiful. I think you're absolutely right. A video is probably not doing her justice. I'd bet seeing her live would be a treat. Maybe we will get lucky and Tarja and Floor will sing a couple more songs together

@@HypeTrain-Follow yes. On Over The Hills and Far Away. Nightwish did it as a cover during Tarja's era. I didn't feel the audio was as good as this one, but they sound great together
Hello guys, great reaction! Just like you I first experienced this version after Floor´s Wacken Performance - and I remember thinking during the first half of the song that Tarja sings it just as good as Floor. At least! I was quite impressed, but... the second part didn´t meet my expectations though. So in the end I also prefer Wacken :-)
But we have to consider that Tarja stuck to the original studio Version (the song was new at the time). Floor made changes - for the better! That shows her confidence as an artist - which is even more remarkable considering she joined the band just months earlier. I wonder how Tarja would sing it today, using some freedom in interpretation - it´s not like she can´t sing high notes after all...

she makes the songs of her own way and nailed it , in her own style and without completely imitating the singing of her predecessors
even songs that were not written for her and her voice, Floor with her versatility and vocal range gives to the old songs a heavier and different touch

Haha yea you can def say that Floor stole the song, i mean she does a hell of a job! Thing is however, that back then in this concert, this is how the song was originally sung, its even like that in the studio version... but with floor's rendition, this one becomes a bit lackluster because you're expecting to hear all thr extra things floor adds to it (but unfortunately, that was 10+ years laterrr in wacken lol) alsoo, tarja has an outfit change after this song so thats most likely why she ran off first off the stage... and as a rehearsed band, im sure this is a key for her having her outfit change and the guys in the band getting their turn to shine solo in a song too. Epica does this too where Simone goes off stage and lets the guys finish off the song The Obsessive Devotion.. but yea, keep reacting guys, i loveee that you guys react to ALL of nightwish! But Floor is a once in a generation talent. She is on a whole different level.

This is when I found Nightwish and fell in love with them. I feel Floor's version of this song is better. However the song 'Slaying the dreamer' from this concert is far superior then floors version. Tarja and Floor are very different singers and different songs are better for each of them. You should check out Slaying the dreamer because it is amazing!
Yeah, Nightwish was more symphonic and less metal back in the day, in this version you can actually listen to more of the strings and choruses, and less the battery and distorted guitar. Same with the voice, the songs got heavier interpretations than the originals with Floor, in general.

As great a Tarja is, you can now hear how Floor took this song to the next level. She completely added the last 2 vocal sections at the end to bring this song to an ultimate climax! Love Tarja, but Floor kicks ass!

Yeah she's got an operatic voice, but this is not an operatic style song. She use less operatic classical vocals at some parts, but mostly sings it with contemporary style. Floor's version was rearranged from this, which people often miss. The biggest difference is the choir which is loud in Tarja's version, as loud as her at times, and partly reduced very quiet in Floor's version, partly removed completely, and then the ending vocals didn't exist yet in Tarja's version. - And no, Floor doesn't sing it operatic way, and much less classical style than Tarja does. And yeah, the approach to the song in Tarja's period was softer to the song, she was in even standing with the choir and the instruments, while in Floor's period she was mixed louder and they made those before mentioned things to make make vocalist better heard.
Of course, why Tarja leaves the stage, is that there was a long part of the song without vocals. She was also in flu and fever, so she probably goes to drink and rest when she has a chance. I don't recall if she changes outfit after this song, but she does many times. The comments that she does this coz she doesn't care or something, are just from haters. She knew this was recorded for a live video album, so of course it's an important concert to her too. In fact, in an interview she tells that she was very worried about the concert in the morning rehearsals, when she couldn't yet sing at all.
It´s cute when people say ''oh floor took it to the next level'' crap... really? cuz of a scream at the end? like Tarja is unable to scream? lol Its just not part of the song... GLS is not a punk or a 80's glam metal song that the singer need to scream and head bang to look cool... this is a sad and melancolic song, threat it as it is for gods sake.

I love Tarja, but Floor just took this to the next level. BTW, Tarja was rushing back stage to change outfits for the encores. And this concert was the last time Tarja sang at this venue (Hartwell Arena) until 2017, when she sang Ave Maria with Marco

Tarja is very good, but comparing to Floor she has no chance. Tarja has this pretty "lazy" vibrato on her long notes which time to time sounds a little out of tune. And her basic sound is more gloomy and one-dimensional that it makes NW sound like a Gothic metal band. Floor has much much so much more colorful voice and her stage presence is so damn capturing and enchanting! And I really love that Floor made this her own arrangement to the end of the song - that she sings it till the end and hit those floorgasm-notes.
Floor simply takes the song to another level. Taria's version does not set any highlights here. Everything Floor brings into the song is missing here.

It doesn't hurt me to say it. I think I understand why. Floor can contrast her own voice, her own style and do it all within the same song. Nightwish is all about contrast. That's what makes it so dynamic. This is coming from a late 90's Tarja fanboy who agrees with you 100%
I am a fan of Tarja, but objectively this is the song Floor performs better. But there are songs that Floor performs worse, and it is Tarja's voice that makes goose bumps in my body, for example songs Slaying the dreamer (especially at the end🔥🔥🔥), Sleeping sun, Planet hell from the concert End of an Era and Dead boys poem, Deep silent complete, The Pharion sails to orion, Elvenpat+Fantasmic from the concert From Wishes of enternity👌👍👌👍

Floor puts more variety, depth and meaning. Tarja’s technical ability is amazing, she really is a great singer, but Floor is a better storyteller.
Floor's version is definitely the superior one. Next level stuff. But Tarja still sounds great. Cuz she's Tarja.
Tarja has a very nice operatic voice, but this song in particular needs a more diverse voice. The voice doesn't fit the song. It needs a voice that can be lyrical, belting, and growling. Also, Tarja seems rather stiff in the way she carries herself on stage. She certainly doesn't have the crowd interaction and flair Floor does while performing. That being said, it was a different time in the groups history. And it was this history, including Tarja, that brought Nightwish to where they are today.
