bring chills up my spine kind of 'wonderment' .... thank you to this person who dedicated his life to rebirth this book binding lost art & a piece of chinese history! I never heard of this. Breathtaking art work to say the least. Moma should have an exhibit of his work!
I hope there is an exhibition in Ottawa, Canada someday. I would love to see all of it in person. Beautiful. I for sure would be tempted to touch it, haha!😊
IMO..... too bad this kind of bookbinding is only to cater for the rich, the academicians of their time, and maybe to make copies of sutras (who knows, right?)..... poor people can only afford to see it with their eyes or work hard to study in order to become a scholar and beyond.... i think tats why most arts and crafts disappear in times because no one documents it or no more craftsmen of that particular craft..... but i would love to seriously learn that art.....it looks cool, mesmerizing and challenging to make.....
True. Basically most artists who can have the time and resources to "discover" this. If you're poor, you wont have access to any of the resources he used.
