I can already hear what he is talking about. Listening to beat after beat and being a professional for so long he must just have zero patience for beats that don't catch. Everyone and their mom wants to be a producer these days and most of them want to make beats so he can't just be letting everything through. He probably, as a trained musician, hears the same patterns over and over and just tosses them out as soon as he loses patience for it.

How does he train his guys ? Can you guys make a long dedicated ear training video where you go about sampling, sound selection, as if we were Timbo’s guys ? Would be such a dope video I’d watch over and over again
I don't know but I think it could be as simple as this: You watch Timbo react to beats and you kind of get a feeling for what he likes so to get a beat featured by him it has to have certain elements. The process of submitting going back to the lab and trying to come up with something that will make him snap his neck or get the dreamy gaze, it's kind of a grooming/training. Even if he doesn't actually TEACH you anything. That's goes for the young cats regularly submitting. BUT he mentioned Shucati, they are a sample collective and I think Timbo means that he trains them to make shit with certain characteristics that he likes. Like how you might train a chef to adapt their cooking to your tastes.
Did you guys start playing the beats through a better output? Cause it sounds better than what it used to, which was thru mic I’m assuming.(if not then can you play it through a dif output than mic cause 808s be muddy and I wanna be jumping when the thangs hitting)

Go back to the masters of Jazz and funk to hear how it was done. They built complete songs from a groove that created a hypnotic vibe. You have the equipment and the mind. Taking this philosophical approach will launch you above the rest! You will be different in a special way!!! Please also there’s more to a five star groove than drums and synths. Incorporate horns (trombone, trumpets, sax, French horns) guitar strings, flutes… things no one else is daring to do. Dare yourself to be different to be great
