Today, I'm going to break Minecraft, multiple times! 😈

I have an idea. I want to create a new Minecraft world within older versions of the game, update it throughout progressively newer versions, and use glitches within those versions to get the weirdest world possible when all is said and done. Each version that I'll use has some form of glitch that I'll be able to take advantage of for this experiment. Water within the nether, negative durability items, death by a fox, and even glitching individual chunks so they entirely regenerate. How much can we really break Minecraft using just this method? Well, let's find out.
Also, should I make a video about the new Minecraft Java Edition "Chat Moderation" system? @FitMC recently made a video about it, so I'm not sure if I should cover it. Let me know!

Mojang is really overstepping their bounds by trying to moderate servers they don't even host, forcing their own "child friendly" standard on everyone. Definitely spread the word!
all it will do is make the severs use discord or another program to get around it unless they put in a flag so you can't share discord names or sever codes
I mean I’m not too worried since I’m sure all the big servers will use plugins of sorts to bypass, maybe something that makes chat serverside
I vote everyone in Washington set up camp outside their Redmond office. If I had a vehicle, I'd drive over with a wooden painted sign, a tent, and a backpack of camper friendly meals
There are definately better ways they could have handled this, such as adding a parameter to the server configuration to make it: everyone, 13+, or 18+. For realms they could have a similar approach in the configuration. If this is mis-used, they can have a system that tries to identify these servers, put it through a human being, and automatically correct this.
Just saying, it’s not mojang making these changes, it’s Microsoft

I would really love to hear your opinion on the chat reporting system, it is extremely broken and will be disastrous for the game, so having larger youtubers speak on the topic feels like one of the only ways that any real changes will happen.

I wasn't exactly thinking about using this to break the game in weird ways and make a bunch of cursed items but I guess this does both of those things

Voices from the community unfortunately won't do anything. The chat moderation is mainly being pushed by Microsoft. They won't change their minds on this, it's based on their business model. Look up "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish."

Is it the actual reporting part that's the issue? Is it just how Microsoft has already caused issues? Is it how we don't know if this is gonna be a togglable feature for server admins? Or are people actually just fussing over not being allowed to use bad language on a game that a lotta little kids play?? I think mojang chat moderation is absolutely terrible... It should be up to the server operators to moderate if they choose to. With realms, I think it should absolutely be a choice made by the realm owner.

Ant, please make a video about the new moderation rules. The changes are a huge deal to a lot of people in the community (including yourself, I’m sure), and mojang/ Microsoft are obviously not interested in the feedback that players have at this point. Discussions about it have already been banned from the subreddit, and creators speaking out is the only meaningful front left to fight these terrible changes, it seems.
Totally agreed. Reddit mods being spineless as usual, trying to swipe the issue under the carpet. People are rightfully livid about this, not just the abhorrent features, but the lying and betrayal along side them, and the general disrespect towards the community. Complain to the games developers? That’s not okay, they’re not in charge of these decisions. Complain on the subreddit? Not okay, not what the sub is made for. Complain on the feedback outlet? Useless, nobody actually looks at that. Nobody is prepared to take any responsibility. It’s apparently completely the fault of some unknown shot callers at Microsoft, who conveniently have no public face at all.

Aside from what will inevitably happen, which is people making bots that will auto-banning literally everyone via false reports, since the system will 100% be automated. It'll take a week or two of everyone getting banned and the player numbers suddenly dying, but eventually they'll realize what's happened and be forced to disable the whole system.
Remember, that if nothing works, we'll raid Mojang

Something ive always wanted to do was make a world in an old version, load in some chunks, then load the very next chunk, and then do think like 15-20 times and see what mess gets made. Having like 20 biomes next to each other
Between Alpha 1.0 and Beta 1.7, there were only three major revisions of the world spawn code. Beta 1.8 through Release 1.7 saw quite a few, and after that, things remained largely the same until 1.18 IIRC.

@@bestGaming132 yes, world generation was completely rewritten in 1.13. You will find a difference there as well.
@@bestGaming132 I think that was mostly due to "mutated" biomes which were generated in the wrong positions, and there's also the different ocean types as well

I’ve been thinking of doing this sort of thing as a series on TH-cam, instead of just going from notable version to notable version, I go through every single version - from pre classic to modern - and basically doing a complete history of Minecraft on one world.

You can get killed by a fox still. Just throw thorns armor to the fox, and it will pick it up. For some reason thorns works in an entity's hand, and thats where the fox is holding the item.
You can do this with allays too, but it's more complicated since giving an allay an item will prevent you from damaging it. However, deflecting a ghast fireball into the allay will still damage the allay, and count as the player attacking it, so you will receive thorns damage.
Or, just have your friend tame a pack of third gen foxes, punch said friend and wait for your inevitable death
You can give them sharp 5 axes and they’re just op wolves that protect you. It’s an intended feature

@@Jolynor No he didn't. Any IP address that starts with 192.168 is a local IP address for use on a private LAN. Your computer or phone probably also has one that starts with 192.168 or 172.16. If it starts with anything else, that's the one you want to keep a secret.

I’ve heard that the reporting feature was already on the website, though implementing it in-game and cryptographically signing messages so as to verify them definitely takes it 10 steps further in the direction of microsoft overlord control
The NoChatReports mod removes the cryptographical signing from all messages on your end, meaning you can't be reported, but you can't report.

I'm so happy seeing the Minecraft Discontinued Features Wiki being mentioned,. That website has a special place in my heart for detailing almost every way you can break Minecraft.
I remember the update when superflat became a world type so me and my friends loaded a superflat world and then reloaded it in an older version, this made it so parts of the worlds were superflat but other chunks had massive chunk border cliffs.
If you do make a video, be sure to highlight that we were promised that the only major changes to accounts was how we logged in, because permanent multiplayer bans are a huge change and breach of that promise. Also mention how Dinnerbone said that nothing we like about Minecraft was going to change. The community seems to like running their own servers free from meddling from an evil corporation, and now said evil corporation is changing that :P
nothing will happen from simply complaining about the video, as soon as you migrated to a Microsoft account, you had to agree to the tos. in the tos it states everything about the reporting feature so once you agree there's nothing you can do to complain as Microsoft can just say since you agreed to the tos then they can do anything they want and you have no right to complain

Hi Ant, I have a question. Have you ever heard of Minecraft worlds corrupting and blending together? I remember a few years ago, when I made a new superflat world. After going to the Nether, there were already some builds and I recognized one of my old worlds. After returning to the Overworld, I was not even on the superflat anymore, but on my other world, which I thought was already deleted. It was really bizarre.
This sounds like an interesting bug. Something that would fit the Herobrine creepypasta. What version were you playing? (I know I'm not Ant. Just curious)

Pretty much every time I've seen the new feature mentioned it's either been someone asking about it or people expressing their dislike of it. The account banning is just going to lead to third party auth servers, probably using a mod on an offline-mode server to authenticate the clients mod against a whitelist to handle it
I remember a superflat world I accidentally corrupted. I never knew how I did it, but at some point, all chunks that never loaded became the Tunnelers Dream preset. I loved that world..
The chat moderation is probably Microsoft trying to make their game according to them "better" but they have no idea what actually happens in game
I feel like it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't SO abusable. Like, there are specific things that I feel SHOULD be moderated, I've seen some super gross shit happen in Minecraft servers before (I was even partially involved in one of them, making sure to stall so that a server owner would be able to ban the person who was harassing someone else who was like. 13 or some shit, saying some super gross stuff to her while an admin was offline.) The issue is that we all know this shit won't be handled the proper way, and that they're gonna probably use random bots to actually moderate the messages that get reported rather than actual people. Someone deserves to get banned for saying predatory shit to other players, but not for saying "I'm going to pee pee poo poo on the carpet", but I guarantee that people would get banned for both under this moderation, or even WORSE, only get banned for the latter but not the former (which is what has happened on Roblox and whatnot). Kids deserve to feel safe online on a game like Minecraft, but players in general should not feel scared that they could get banned PERMANENTLY by random hackers or for saying some dumb jokey shit.

Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho.
Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. The ability to enchant literally anything with any enchantment was in the legacy console versions for many years. When I was really young me and my friends used to make "magic wands" by enchanting sticks
2:11 I used to do this(different method, can't remember sorry ;-;) on the PS3 version and it would give me very weird textures that looked like just sliced/cropped copies of the regular grass. I thought it was so weird and cool!!!
Now that it's happened, the community absolutely overreacted when it was being tested. It's not that bad! Does it help Minecraft? No. But does it kill Minecraft? No.
Next time something like this happens, put piece of mind that it's not gonna be the end of the world.
It would be really cool to load the far lands in a world then reload that world in a version where the far lands dont exist to see what that looks like
When I watched this vid a year ago, it really inspired me to play through the versions, starting in the Alpha version I bought the game in and occasionally updating it.
I didn't go through so many glitches, but just played, relaxed and tried some ancient mods again. It was incredible
let me note that its completely possible to die to a fox in the later versions, tamed foxes defend the player, even from other players, if a player punches you and you have third gen tamed foxes under your name they will attack and can very much kill a player
i could watch you break minecraft for years and never get bored, its always interesting to see how many ways you can cause a game to do unintended things.

I remember migrating a superflat water world to a newer version of Minecraft, which I had been manually removing water from around a village. I don't know which block it was specifically, but I recall one of the blocks making up the houses changed to something else during the migration. It's been years since I thought about it, but I think it was certain orientations of oak stairs turned into dirt or something.

I have done similar thing! I made a server that updates every 1-2 days and while everyone was surviving I slowly collected glitch blocks. I think now I want to make this again now.
Couldn’t you already just drop armor to a fox? I’ve given them sharp 5 axes before and used them like op wolves. I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure you can still do this in the most recent version.
When I was younger, I would always try to break my worlds by using a 1.12 customization world (usually by hitting Random on every page of the features) loading it up, placing a bunch of random blocks, then going back to older versions.

When my friends and I ran one of the most popular vanilla survival severs waaay back in alpha/beta days we used portal blocks as our grief detection tool rather than the default stick. Because it was easy to remember and looked cool to hold. This was a throwback seeing the single portal block in the video.
Although, you’ll have to stop in 1.17 though because versions above 1.18 have chunk blending

Somehow, Docm77 figured out how to regenerate chunks on multiplayer servers WITHOUT rolling back the version. He promptly used it to get 8 Dungeons in a single chunk early on in Hermitcraft Season 8.

I think that getting killed by a fox has become a feature now rather than a glitch. In Zedaph's most recent Hermitcraft video he did the fox bit and got killed by it (he also did it with a villager which was hilarious). If I am not mistaken they are still running their servers in 1.18, so unless they made some modifications in the game this should still be possible I think.

I would certainly love to hear your opinion on the chat reporting system, it is extremely broken and will be disastrous for the game, so having larger youtubers speak on the topic feels like one of the only ways that any real changes could possibly happen.

You can still (technically) do the "No name item" glitch from 4:04 (At least on Bedrock)
All you need is § and a letter/number. (Let's use §a as an example)
This works because § designates color, but is still counted as a character.
So let's say I get a diamond sword and name it "§a Hi". Because § signifies a color change, however, the sword would display "Hi" in light green text. But... if you put nothing after the §a, what would it show? Nothing.
This is where the technically comes in though, because that §a is still there. No text is shown, and it has the same appearance as the renamed item from the 4:04 glitch, but there is still invisible text that doesn't take up space.

antvenom. what would the ultimate skyblock look like? to me Minecraft has always been about building and progress by processing the environment to your benefit, but in a scenario where the player has enough time and favorable RNG, what is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM you need to still do everything from pixel art to large redstone contractions, to ice boat highways, and fully enchanted netherite/elytra. heres some of my thinking on that train of thought.
you dont need naturally spawning redstone if you have minimum two things, enough lava to make a big enough nether portal which you can either start with enough to do so or start with one bucket of lava and a drip stone. kill enough zombies to get enough iron to make a caldron to regen lava. then make a bare bones flashing nether portal gold farm to spawn enough piglans to get enough gold to make a golden apple. You’d need access to blaze or at least 1 brewing stand and a potion of weakness, kill a creeper to make it a splash potion and eventually a zombie villager will spawn, cure it, turn it into a cleric and sell it all the rotten flesh you’ve accumulated until then to buy redstone which can be used to make just about anything assuming you can get the gold from the farm to pigglins in the nether for quartz
And lastly put it to the test by making what is theorized to be the ABSOLUTE minimum skyblock, release it to the market place and hold a competition to see who can do the most for 2 months and to enter they need to document their progression so theres a large pool of data set to work off of if something can be improved
did you know if you had 1 bucket of water you can make an infinite source of water either by using a sponge or a peice of kelp
