Thank you thank you! Normally I find IKEA instructions straightforward, but they did me dirty on this one by not including the instructions. The instructions online were hard to see the hole placement. I really appreciated you walking me through it!
Once you've done one...... it's a doddle! Use a drill/driver for all your screws with torque set at no.8 and it'll save you ages in making them up. Just finished two 100x236cm Pax wardrobes, three Malm drawer sets and a Songesand king sized bed and wife is delighted. Now to start bedroom number two..........
Without your video we would have struggled. We’ve just finished our wardrobe, it’s similar to yours but ours has 2 singles and a double. The room is small with high ceilings so we had to build in another room. We paid the extra for the taller ones and moved the singles into the bedroom, we had to build the double standing up. As you said a little more difficult but possible. Carpet sliders really help. Thank you so much for your excellent instructions.
Just built the first of my double Pax wardrobes alone and its simple enough. Only tricky bit was putting the second side on as the 236 length bends visibly as you put it together lifting it off the connectors. Got my wife to hold it in the middle while i tightened up the connections. Might try putting the next one on its side to connect up the second side. Second Pax wardrobe is on hold as for some reason it was missing the top panel. Seven to ten days to send out the extra piece! Plenty of time to make up the Malm drawers and bed. P.S. I used my Ryobi drill/driver with torque setting at 8 to drive ALL of the screws on my Pax , Malm drawers and Songesand kingsize bed. No breakthrough on any of them. You can check by starting off at let's say torque 4 then tighten by hand. Gradually increase your torque until around 8 where it will most likely still ratchet around. After 8 it will tighten further. P.P.S. Top panel on Pax is identical to base panel with holes for floor levellers. Top panel has plastic cover plug but you can use that hole to run wiring for lighting without drilling as mentioned on instructions.
This was exactly the kind of tutorial video I was looking for! I was not sure about drawer placement and instructions weren’t helping but you saved the day Sarah! Thank you so much!!
@@GraceInMySpaceSarah, I have a question about the door on left closest to wall. You don’t seem to have much space and with my setup neither do I does the door open enough to open drawers? I’m debating putting the door on the other side to ensure it can open enough!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I really appreciate you taking the time to do this step by step video. Me and my husband will use the info we learned from your video when we put together our PAX wall unit this weekend!
Hi, what’s the wardrobe height vs the ceiling height? I can see they’re pretty close, so wondering if there’s a formula one can use (trying to decide if I can buy a 236cm pax against a 241cm ceiling). The Ikea planner says I need at least one extra cm, the FAQ say I need 244 cms 😢
Hi Sarah, i wonder if you fix the back of the wardrobes to the wall? Just so they wont fall tipping down to the front when the inside filling got heavy /unbalanced?
@@GraceInMySpaceAbsolutely........ When you open both doors on a 236cm Pax wardrobe, the whole thing wants to move forward, potentially crushing you, hence the warnings on the first page about securing it to the wall.... Solidly! If you have drywall then screw into the studs. If they don't line up, then screw a wooden stud across the existing studs and screw into that. Brick wall, drill plug and securely screw into that. Also drill plug and screw a wooden stud across the wall allowing you to securely fix into that.
Hi! Looks great! How long did it take from start to finish (sorry if I missed that). I am doing one with just shelves, doors and hardware and trying to gauge how long it should take to assemble. Thanks!
Hi Sarah, I've learnt from experience that ikea is not suitable for people like me, who like to rearrange furniture all the time😅 Great video, wish I had this when I had to help my daughter put these up in her house🤯😱
IKEA Pax wardrobes are not for moving around like your average wardrobe as the need wall fixing for stability. If you must move them, it's slide/push/pull very gently keeping pressure low down using your feet and knees and hips. Do not pull or push high up as the frame will want to shift diagonally!
I have a question. Did you put something in the gap between the back of the wardrobe and the wall before securing it? You've got skirting and a dado rail (I think that's what it's called), so there's definitely a gap.
Glad it was helpful! It probably took 3 hours for the first one and then 1.5 hrs for each after. The first one is always the longest to get your bearings. 😉
Has anybody tried this just avoiding the back panel? I'm trying to put my wardrobe in front of some electrical panels...wondering if I can just keep the back open since I'm screwing it to the wall anyways, so I can access the electrical panel through the wardrobe
Hi, Sarah! A job well instructed! I really like those units and how they work for you. So much storage! By the way, does the diagonal hardwood drive you bonkers?😂 Tracy
Best DIY closet instalation tutorial.
Thank you so much! Glad it was helpful.
Thank you so much! I just did four without any issues or mistakes, saved me so much time and frustration.
Glad it helped!
Wow!!! This has to be the best how to video I have ever watched. You explained every step in detail. Great job! Thank you

Off to build 5 closets for the first time. I feel much confident after watching your video.
Good luck!

This was so helpful I worried that I couldn’t do this on my own but I’m off to build now 😊
You can do it!
They look great! I am actually planning on using a Pax in a laundry room, so your video is very timely and helpful. Thank you!

I had an inch to spare but it was a bit of a challenge to stand it up from the floor. Might be easier to build it from the wall position.
Hi Sarah, i wonder if you fix the back of the wardrobes to the wall? Just so they wont fall tipping down to the front when the inside filling got heavy /unbalanced?
Yes! They are anchored to each other and also to the back wall. That wasn’t included in the video as we fully installed them at a later date.

What an amazing build and all by yourself. Great job.
Glad you like it!
Thank you so much for your great video, the IKEA instructions were terrible, your video made assembly easy and straightforward.
Glad it helped!
You are pretty awesome…thank you for clarity in giving instructions…very helpful.
You are so welcome!
You gave great directions! But I’d hate to try that myself!
It’s doable!😄
Definitely clear demonstration for building this unit!
Glad it was helpful.
Also, didnt u need to fix between the two wardrobe with with eachother (down the middle) when the two doors meet? (Like joining them together)
Hi! Looks great! How long did it take from start to finish (sorry if I missed that). I am doing one with just shelves, doors and hardware and trying to gauge how long it should take to assemble. Thanks!
The first one took 3 hours. After that learning curve they were each about 1.5 hrs.
How do you click/merge all the wardrobe to each other to create stability and alignment please, Is there a screw or komplement for it?
It comes with brackets for the wall and to attach to each other on the sides.
@@GraceInMySpace alright thank you. Is it possible to see a picture please?
Thanks for creating this thorough video! The cabinets look great!

I'm so glad!
Gave up on clothes as it had no screws. This video saved me😂
Does it need to be fixed to the wall??
Yep! That’s the final installation step. The system comes with wall anchors.
I have a question. Did you put something in the gap between the back of the wardrobe and the wall before securing it? You've got skirting and a dado rail (I think that's what it's called), so there's definitely a gap.
Nope! Just pushed the base up against the wall.
@@GraceInMySpace Thanks 😊
awesome tutorial, best one i have seen
Glad it helped!
Wish I had this video when I installed my Pax with my husband! 😂 we survived thankfully
I’m glad you did!
Great Tutorial. Really clear and concise. Can I ask how long it took to put one together including the drawers and everything? Thank you.

The back panel definitely provides stability to the whole unit. You can try but I’d definitely secure it to the wall in many places.

Hi Tracy! The floors will come out when we do the full renovation 😉
100% useful. Thanks.
You're welcome!
@7:26, why are you turning the screw driver counter clockwise. That isn't right. I dont think. is this in a mirror?
It could have been how the camera was set up. Just turn in the position to secure it ☺️
Awesome video really helpful
Glad it helped!
What tools did you use? Cna you please link it?
Just a screwdriver and hammer for most of it! They usually come with some small tools as well.
Can you also show how you anchored it to the wall
It is leveled with shims and then screwed into the studs ☺️
Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
u r so rare dear lady 🙇♀
