So, I guess I know how to skate up to the dot. Based on the title I would've loved to see different techniques to win the puck. If I can't beat the guy on speed, I like to lift their stick, get under, and sweep it back in one motion or check their stick back toward them and open up real estate for me to sweep the puck back.

This is really useful for someone who's never taken a faceoff before, but doesn't actually help any center with experience win more draws. Wrong title for an otherwise good tutorial.

I have heard many coaches advise that one should look at the linesman's elbow, not his hand...when his elbow drops, that triggers you to go

Hey kid. If you want to make the pros and are a centre-man, you must be a face off master. You will have more ice time which will result in more points. If you lose 70% of your draws and want to make the nhl you better score goals to make up for it. Best faceoff tips.
    1) Confidence. Believe you can win every draw.
    2) Get in their head. Don’t wish your opponent a good game. Talk to him. Say nice skates, what happened to Jeff last game? Anything.
    3) let them win the first draw if it’s at centre or a meaningless draw. See what he does and he will have a false sense of confidence the next time
    4) widen your stance and position your head below his. It will give you more leverage and slightly interfere with his view
    5) Don’t focus on the puck or winning it back. Focus on his stick. Smash it, drive forward and lift it up, use your body. Use your feet
    6) train your arms and forearms. Develop superior strength
    7) if you keep losing draws to the same person, line em up for a clean text book body check. Every face off he wins should equal one solid and I mean solid body check. Don’t be dirty and cheap. Keep it clean.
The highest ever faceoff percentage is 62.86% over 2162 faceoffs. You will have an amazing life if you can even come close. Don’t worry about winning each one. Focus on not losing more than 40%
