Apple watch ultra battery life test under normal use. How long does it last?

  • I'm testing the Apple watch ultra battery life. I set to raise to wake and turn off the always on display. I just get text and notifications on the watch. Did not do any exercises, stream, music, or talk on the watch. It seems to last 3 days if you are not a heavy watch user. Next I might test with always on display.

I got my Apple Watch Ultra on its charger now. I got 73 hours between charges with 6% battery remaining.

I turn on theater mode and turn notifications back on. I get 4 full days of use with approximately 5% remaining when I put it on the charger.

Actually great insights. I recently got the SE. Thought it would be a good starter until the apple watch ultra 2 coming next year or later. But the battery life is still not enough. The same regular usage gives me a good 36 hour and still its not enough. I'm in the 14 day return period. Could you also do the same with low-power mode an see how long it lasts? Its meant to be for survivability and 2,5 to 3days still doesn't justify the price for me. If the ultra with low battery reaches 6-7 days, I'm returning my SE asap

So keep in mind that, without any low power mode, it clocks in around 2.5-3 days while Apple estimates that at 36 hours. There's currently a low power mode, but there's also a coming Ultra low power mode, which apple estimates to be around 60 hours. That mode is still coming. I personally have a little hard time believing that the Ultra would be updated yearly, but I mean it could be. I would more or less see this as being updated like the new MacBook pros, roughly 2 years between updates. But don't let the battery be the only benefit; it's built with titanium, ceramic, and sapphire glass with the clips on the bands being titanium as well. It's got cellular built in, and a cellular series 8 with stainless steel costs about the same as the ultra. Biggest display with double the max brightness, it's pretty amazing. I'm loving mine so far. If anything, reverse your current plan; get the ultra and test it for the 2 week return window if you're able to.

@@brandonhohn245 That is also something I considered, I also think the next release won't be next year but it is Apple so you never really know. Also the titanium build with ceramic and sapphire glass gives it a selling point when the ultra 2 releases totally agree with you on that. I assume the ultra low power mode that states "up to 60 hour" if that gives the 6 to 7 days usage for my regular usage scenario, I will definitely get it. Unfortunately where I live, the price of the watch is approximately 1500$ so I'll probably get the watch overseas without the option of return. Unfortunately testing is not an option for me. But I'm pretty happy you're liking yours. It looks really good on the wrist too, did get a chance to wear it at a store with the green alpine look and love it.

@@RRonaK Yeah that's the model I got. My dad got the trail loop and I the green canvas, but he's actually more of a mountain man and liked my band better, so we traded XD. The back tracking feature is what sold him, and when he used it for the first time, his face lit up so much. But yeah, that price difference for you is really killer and the lack of testing makes a big difference. For it being that expensive, if you know you're not a real outdoors person or athlete, like someone who just wants a nice watch to live with and miiiight start getting into activities, your current plan of action sounds perfect

Is that a screen protector? You don’t need it, there are videos on hammering it, it is not gonna break or scratch. It makes the display worse, much lower contrast. Also, since the battery life is good, just try use the always on display, so many less annoying.

I had an old Apple Watch that the face was all Scratched up so this time I decide to put a screen protector. Wouldn’t hurt and did not notice in the display being worse. Thanks for the recommendation though. I might do a test with an always on display later.

@@andee_james regular Apple Watch uses Ion-X Glass, which scratches easily. Mine did as well. But I also had a stainless steel model for 4 years, which uses sapphire glass, not a single slightest scratch. There aren’t diamond dusts everywhere. Sapphire is not gonna scratch.

For a $800 watch i don’t care if they told me nothing could ever break it. I just got mine over the weekend and put a screen protector on it!!!

@@Aleejandro_Gomez that’s why I got a screen protector on it. Piece of mind

@@Aleejandro_Gomez ultra and stainless steel version both have sapphire glass unlike the regular model. I had stainless models for 4 years and now ultra. Never had a single scratch, that is just the physical properties of sapphire. And my original series 0 Apple Watch got scratched like crazy because the regular model used apple’s “ion x” chemically strengthened glass. You might scratch the titanium, but never sapphire unless you have diamonds all over your house.

yes, I only get notifications on the watch. I didn't stream or work out with it. If you use the watch more then I would say maybe 2 days or 2.5 days.
