Should You Buy Silver Bars or Coins? (My silver dealer weighs in too!)

  • Should you buy silver bars (or silver rounds)? In this video I discuss whether or to buy silver bars or to stick with government minted silver coins or silver bullion. Tim, my local coin shop silver dealer, also weighs in on the scarcity of large silver bars like Engelhard and Johnson Matthey. I also briefly remind you of what "Stacking the Yankee Way is all about! I finally I explain why I purchased this kilo bar of silver and what I've learned about the draw of silver bars. I love stacking the American silver eagle, the Canadian silver maple leaf, the silver Britannia, and constitutional silver ("junk silver"). What have I decided when it comes to buying silver bars or coins? Watch and find out!
I stack silver and gold to hedge against our debt-fueled, fiat currency-based economy that I am convinced is nearing the end of the road! Consider stacking silver and gold yourself to help you build and preserve wealth. And thank you for watching Yankee Stacking!

Interesting how over 2% inflation has been a concern when central banks and the Fed begin to hike interest rates. I consider the rising interest rate to be a very serious issue since it will undoubtedly cause more investors to withdraw their money from the stock market. But then I'm still aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

AGREED! Over 3 years now, I've made over 1.7 million by simply following a coach's advice. I was on the sidelines for a while watching, trying to determine the best time to get in, before I came across a coach, recommended by my wife. I was reluctant at first but I went ahead and contacted the coach. Best decision yet

Sometimes I see deals where a tube of 20 Philharmonics is like one or two bucks more than a tube of 20 generic rounds. I will always spend the extra buck for coins. Lately I have been buying NADIR 10 ozt .9999 bars in sets of 2 for between $259-263 per bar and they come sealed with a COA, so I been on the cheap lately but they have so much going for them for so much less money than coins. Just got my last set today and it ran me $525 for 20 ounces making 12 bars in the last 6 weeks. Buy like this is your last chance as it may be. When someone finally figures out that if you keep printing kabillions of dollars every week you have opened the door to unavoidable financial disaster then the people will realise that BBB&M (Bullion, Bullets, Beans & M16s) was not a silly poem but a prophetic word to the common man who had an ear to hear and a lick of sense.

When I started out 40+ years ago, I only bought bars. Engelhard and Johnson Matthey. Today, the premiums on those bars exceeds silver eagles. They are considered collectable bullion, strange as it sounds. The value of my stack has increased dramatically with time, mainly due to rising premiums that I can reap upon resale. Bars have their place in any stack, if you can get them at the right price. Diversity is key.

When that happens, you will go out and buy a burglar and fire rated safe just so nobody runs off with it, and, it won’t melt into a metal blob if you happen to have a fire. I can see your future. Yes, I can. And, don’t tell a soul what you are doing. Trust me on this one. All kinds of cockroaches you thought were friends will come out of hiding and reveal themselves to you their real character.

By far the most interesting video I’ve seen and I’ve been watching a lot. Phenomenal. Subbed. While I completely agree that minted gov coins are the way to go there’s a collector part of me that finds the bars cool. Not the one you have in your hand or on the table but the bars that come from reputable places. I just got a 10oz East India Co. bar, beautiful and unique design. Not something you’ll see too often I’d imagine. The Perth Mint, Royal British Mint, Royal Canadian Mint, PAMP Susie, Credit Suise, Valcambi I mean…. Those aren’t just any old Joe Schmo mints… these bars are down right gorgeous and unique.

I have over 100lbs of silver that I've melted down into bars & I have 1,200 government silver mint set coin sets in different years(1936-2021)that I've have bought & collected since October of 2019 & I'm still buying/stacking atleast 1-100 government silver mint sets(an ounce to a kilo) of silver a week without those hefty premium prices... I was smart and starting buying these coins through auctions and my local coin dealers... Yes, I don't buy silver eagles, bars of silver because of the high premiums from dealers... Why make them rich when you can buy actual government 90% silver coins that aren't fake & come straight from the government without paying any premiums because the sellers sell the coins as a collection, not as silver.. The reason I've done this is because I can sell my silver coins multiple ways(by coin rarity, coin value, amount of silver in coin, coin collection). Either way, i can sell my coins for more than a silver price on certain coins as a collection or just sell them just for the silver content easier because the fiat face value currency of the coins is stamped on the coin that everybody recognizes as a demonization of the coin. BUT, I ONLY BUY MY COINS THAT ARE GOVERNMENT SEALED AND HAVE NEVER BEEN OPENED TO MAXIMIZE THE VALUE OF THE COIN!!!!!!!! I've seen people that have bought 50yrs of silver eagles and they couldn't sell them for what they paid for them because of spotting /milk stains ect that are on the silver eagles that can occur naturally or from moisture and they've lost money..... So I'm not a silver eagle fan to stack but I will buy the rare silver eagles... There's too many fake silver eagles/bars on the current market these days and that's why I don't buy bars or silver eagles. That's what I've done as a collection of silver. And I've bought over 50,000 wheat pennies also... FOR FUTURE ADVICE....... If you buy bars or silver eagles, you have to pay a government tax when you try selling them, and the government knows exactly what you have and they can keeps track of your silver content... I personally don't like that so that's why I only buy coins.... It's untraceable because you don't have to buy from dealers or from the government agencies... Back in the 1930's the government made it illegal to hold any gold/silver personally in your possession & they put Americans in prison for keeping their own property so that's why I only buy in this form because its currency, not just silver or gold and the government can't tell me to sell my coins by any means due to any crisis going on... I also don't keep cash(fiat currency) in any bank because there's an old loophole that allows the banks to keep your money if they go bankrupt and the banks can keep your money because they're protected by the government.... If you think that this don't happen then do your own research... 1000's of Americans thought this before and they were left broke in the 1930's!!!! YES THIS IS A GOVERNMENT LAW THAT WAS PAST YEARS AGO TO PROTECT THE BANKS THAT CURRENTLY EXISTS TODAY UNFORTUNATELY 😳 WHAT IS YOUR THOUGHT ABOUT THIS YANKEE??????
I'M NOT A PROFESSIONAL DEALER. I'M JUST AN AVERAGE JOE TRYING TO LEAVE SOMETHING FOR MY CHILDREN JUST INCASE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME THAT THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT WITH.. RETIRE, BUY A HOUSE,CAR ECT OR JUST KEEP STACKING FOR THEIR CHILDREN....

But I will continue to dream. I’d love to get a collection going of bars more than coins

I just got started stacking silver.
I cashed out my 401K and bought several 100 ounce bars. I only bought the big bars. I took them down to my local guy, he offered to buy them all from me $2 over spot. I told him no, and then I bought 2 kilo bars from him.
I 100% believe that Silver is going to the moon after the RV.
Plus, these bars are most definitely going to go into manufacturing products.
I'm not concerned about reselling them, or paying out high premiums when I buy.
That is why I chose buying big bars.

I really like your channel! Nothing wrong with having some of each. A large silver bar could be used to barter for major car repairs, new roof or furnace for the house, etc. I did not plan this but I have about 45% generic bars/rounds, 40% government issue, 15% USA 90%. I count my 2 oz and 10 oz Queen's Beasts as government issue.

I'm brand new to investing in precious metals and I have my first 5oz fine silver bar on the way. However, bars are not my game plan and I went with the 5oz bar due to some technical difficulties trying to buy 5 1oz coins... Anyway, my original game plan was junk silver, especially for a shtf scenario for the same reason you gave, being pre-determined denominations. I've been talking about buying silver for months but I finally decided to start doing it when I learned a 1964 dime has about $1.40 worth of silver in it. The U.S.$ is the equivalent of monopoly money and more and more countries are parting ways with the $ while at the same time stockpiling gold. That tells me all I need to know.

Oh, I'm also considering stacking goldbacks in the "1" size of different states they are coming out with. When they finally have to stop manipulating the gold price to save dollar derivatives, I think the value will immediately be there for both investment AND transactional/shtf needs. I'm giving the kids both gold and silver at Christmas now (3 goldbacks, 1/2 oz silver round last year) and possibly more for birthdays in addition to cash or presents.
