  • Welcome to our deep dive into the ancient wisdom of the Nyaya Sutras! In this lecture, we embark on a journey through the first chapter, focusing on the sources of knowledge as delineated by the classical Indian philosopher Gautama.
The Nyaya Sutras, foundational texts of the Nyaya school of Indian philosophy, present a detailed framework for logical reasoning and epistemology. This introductory session covers:
    - Overview of Nyaya Sutras: Understanding the historical and philosophical context.
    - Pramanas (Sources of Knowledge): A comprehensive look at the four pramanas - perception (pratyaksha), inference (anumana), comparison (upamana), and verbal testimony (shabda).
    - Logical Foundations: Analyzing how these sources contribute to a robust system of acquiring and validating knowledge.
    - Philosophical Implications: Discussing the relevance and application of these principles in contemporary thought.
Whether you're a student of philosophy, a practitioner of Hindu traditions, or simply curious about ancient Indian logic, this lecture offers valuable insights into one of the most influential texts in the Indian philosophical canon.

greetings from bulgaria ... i watch alot of vedanta videos and this was suggested as something similar...
vedanta admits more pramanas and sounds less normative and more descriptive..

Hi Dr. Bryant, I'm so grateful for the way you pour your life out like water to freely benefit us all! I'm astonished to find that the Mahayana buddhist system of logic is completely derivative from Nyaya.

Do you think much work has been done comparing Hellenic philosophical schools with Philosophical schools of Sanātana Dharma ? Like how Aristotle Categories compared with similar systems existing in philosophies of Dharma,
Like How Eleatic Being conneceted to Advaita philosophy or how heracleitus changing connected with Buddhist Momentariness or how 5 matters and the Intellect of Anaxagoras connected to systems in Samkhya or how Neo-platnism is connected to Vedanta, etc.
