If you've ever taken any type of chemistry class, you may have noticed a similarity to the diamond authority symbol to the NFPA symbol. Well they’re gems...so why not watch the show in geology terms? White diamonds lack impurities. So thats why shes the leader. She lacks impurity. However in the show the impurities are things that make them more organic...their emotions. Their emotions form their personalities. White diamond has none. She is cold and rigid. Also quartz naturally forms in a variety of color so thats why you think quartz is a “class”. Look into it.
lack of impurities in certain diamonds is more chemistry thing than geological. in gem formation, chemistry and geology walk hand in hand. so it's not wise to watch the show just in terms of either chemistry, or geology. you need to utilize both. geology helps you to understand the earth and its' constituents, and chemistry helps you to understand minerals, how they're formed and their ''purity/impurity''.
toni. Well geology also is about how all earth minerals are formed. So yes that’s chemistry, but used for geology. Geology is kinda chemistry. Like how under extreme heat limestone turns to marble.
Saying that White Diamond has no emotiones from just 27 seconds of screentime is rather premature...
The Diamonds are organic beings due to being made of carbon. The rest of the gems are more silicates than corbonates. Yellow Diamond wouldn't have much impurities despite the coloration of the gem. But nonetheless, they happen to technically have some organic traits somewhere.
In diamond market terms, Yellow and White are common diamonds usually used for relatively less expensive diamond jewelry and industrial materials. Blue and Pink are the super rare, expensive, glamourous diamond colors.
I wasn't kidding when I said that the next cartoon conspiracy should be about whatever happened to 107 facts.

What if the ending of SU is going to be the flipping of power; Steven becoming the top diamond instead of White, like the NFPA diamond? Meaning that Pink/Steven will be throned as the true leader
Some conflict may include the battle with White Diamond and taking her reign. This flipping pink to the top like Red is on the NFPA diamond.

So you know how when lapis didn’t cry when blue aura had surrounded her and made everyone cry. And the only reason she didn’t cry is because she wet through all the emotional and physical trauma. well, we could go on the theory that pink is defective and was supposed to be red but then backfired and turned pink, and two this is a kid show I'm sure they didn't want to make pink turn red for a reason even though Steven does wear a red shirt... but that can be another theory

The white diamond symbolizes unstable and unusual reactions. Blue and Yellow were both expecting her to be furious, yet she seemed coldly cordial (on the surface, she was setting off a lot of red flags in tone). It does seem to line up at least a little bit in personality.

I really love this channel!
I love this show so much. There has been no show on Earth that has ever made me feel sympathize with a gem so much. My birthstone is amethyst and I really do resonate with amethyst a lot. For example the way that she hates herself or at least did I felt her on a personal and emotional level. But just like her I learnt that as long as you have friends who accept you for who you are there's no reason to hate who you are or where you come from.
I think you should call White Diamond the flare cuz just imagine being in battle with her the last thing you will see is this bright white light Illuminating from a large white lady and that's scary

White is also associated with sterility. In WD's case, it is also associated with concealment. There are two ways to conceal something: 1) obscure it in shadow, or 2) obscure it with painfully bright light. Light represents clarity and truth, but light that is too intense is just as blinding as darkness. Basically, something CAN be too good to be true. If something makes too much sense and seems too idyllic, watch out! It may be hiding or distracting you from a greater, more important truth.

I wanna say some parallels could be drawn between the diamonds and humorism, but much like this theory it kind of falls apart a bit when we get to blue. You would think she would match up most with the phlegmatic corner just on the basis of color, but trait wise blue matches more with black bile. The jury is out whether or not white is ACTUALLY the phlegmatic one, but considering how much she simply doesn't care, an excess of apathy might be appropriate.
They do each match with a humor, just not all of them would be what you think at first glance

I think the Diamonds are the Paragon necklace. Paragon is the most pure and flawless diamond discovered, and was made into a necklace, paired with white, blue, yellow and punk diamonds in that order.
The nfpa diamond is ubiquitous, and instantly associated with danger. The diamond authority symbol seemed more familiar and dangerous as a result.
Any direct representation of the nfpa colors to individual diamonds was likely an early influence, and no longer as reflective of the current incarnation of each character. Characters evolve and change over the process of development, becoming far more than the inspirations and influences that spawned them.
I expected for the chemical impurities within diamonds that give them color, but the NFPA diamond is an equally interesting thought.
This has been discussed a lot already, but I would still make a video on it. There's blue, white, yellow, and red. Pink isn't on there, but what if it's a off color?
I mean it's *somewhat* logical in the sense that she doesn't feel the same way about gems as the other diamonds. Pink also is notably shorter then the other diamonds. To add to this, if you make red lighter, you'll get pink, {white diamond and red diamond conspiracy theory, white + red = pink}

Well, the way the diamonds operate is very hazardous, even to the point the machinery employed into gem multiplication resembles prions.
Pink being an off-colour would make sense, maybe white tried to make a second her, but failed, maybe she tried to make a fire, red diamond, but she made a warm, pink diamond instead.
Also, each diamond is a temperament:
Yellow is choleric
Blue is melancholic
Pink is sanguine
And white is phlegmatic.
There IS the theory that Pink Diamond is off color, and was supposed to be Red Diamond, but we haven’t seen any evidence for or against this. Although, I think it would make more sense to have Red, Yellow, and Blue Diamond since those are the primary colors.

So I have a theory about the diamonds. What if they were either made from or were in some way related to stars???
So I believe that the 4 main colors of stars are in fact: white, red, yellow, and blue. Which would account for their colors (including pink if we are to assume she was supposed to be red) but more importantly there are several references to stars in Steven Universe.
1. The symbol of the crystal gems is a star
2. Peridot exclaims "oh my stars"
3. White diamond says "thank the stars"
4. There was that episode in season 2 about Sadie entitled "Haven't you noticed I'm a Star?" Could that have been foreshadowing White Diamond??
Finally 2 other things I'd like to point out are the common song "Twinkle Twinkle little star" it has a verse comparing stars to diamonds.
Lastly LOOK AT WHITE DIAMOND!!!! Look at the way she is glowing she looks literally like a star
One final note even in real life stars are one of the most powerful objects in the universe. It os only thanks to our star that life can even exist on this planet.
I was actually thinking that since the nfpa diamond is turned 180 then so are the hazards! meaning they're opposite in meaning. this puts pink as being calm and healing vs. flammable, yellow being structure or stable as she is certainly more responsible or accountable than the rest in homeworld standards, blue being mental health/empathy, and white is a little different. So usually white represents all of the hazards listed or is kind of "all of the above". But in my version i think white represents none of those "hazards" or "traits". she isnt stable, calm, and seems apathetic. This solidifies her as nothing we've ever seen before. just my two cents though!

I've always thought of the Gems as a type of AI. It began with White Diamond, through some cosmic miracle (or someone giving a helping hand, because why a humanoid form? They could have taken a purely technological/geological/animal form that was better suited to space and manipulating their technology) who then created more of herself when the circumstances presented themselves (working off the theory that the Diamonds were formed from stars/comets that were near homeworld). Diamonds have the purest computational gems (their cores) which allow for a really crazy amount of data storage and programming to be available to them. They stand at the top of the food chain because they have the original code, they have the best computational powers to make the best decisions, and they have the strongest cohesive bonds structurally making them the longest lasting. Diamonds are the only ones that started with anything more than a basic AI, they already have a personality programmed into them, each one a section of the human psyche that was left to White Diamond to pass to her counterparts as she created them. Before or after the creation of her first Diamond counterpart, she started creating lesser gems (subroutines, or lesser AI) from flawed/lesser materials to serve herself and counterparts in both searching for materials to create more Diamond counterparts as well as expand their influence to broaden this search. Now, at the start, the AI is very rigid in what it does. It wants to create more of itself, and it wants to make sure it is in good condition. So it keeps creating more servant gems (basic service subroutines), protector gems (defensive subroutines), aggressor gems (offensive subroutines), tech-savvy gems (maintenance gems), and specialized gems (computing/calculating/predictive subroutines). As time goes on, each new batch that is created by their tech starts to lose or mutate bits of its code. It starts to develop a bit of personality or physical features that were not as intended. This happens to all data over time even in computers as the data is transferred from one place to another data loss is almost guaranteed. This to the Diamonds is deemed a defect (bug) and the gem is shattered (code is deleted). Imagine then that part of the code mutates in such a way that it too develops a personality on par with or surpassing the programming of the head AI (White Diamond). It learns something that is beyond its programming and truly becomes AI (in that it is able to learn and go beyond its programming and just "Be" something). How would the main AI (White Diamond) know that this is no longer just another bug in the system that needs to be deleted? Answer. It won't. It will keep trying to delete the bug, using everything at its disposal meant for the task of removing bugs (all the other combatant gems as well as the other Diamonds) to do what it deems as the correct course of action. It doesn't know better until a new program adding exceptions to its bug cleaning routing is added to the programming (or in the case of Diamonds, until they learn that it's not a defect, but a new way of life). Gems killing organic beings don't hold the same weight to them as organic beings killing organic beings. To gems, they can always make another gem of the same exact purpose once they have the materials. There are no individuals apart from the specializations. To them, killing an organic being is the same as shattering another gem (deleting a bit of code). They'll always be able to make more of them as long as the necessary materials are available.

Fire escalates in different colours as well.
Red fire is the least hottest.
blue flame is shown at times to be "hotter than white fire" but is mostly depicted as a less hotter flame, to the point of the flame dying out.
Yellow flame is hotter than red flame, existing within a red flame close to the point of (for example) the tip of a match.
White fire is the hottest flame and is the very faintest colour right inbetween the point of ignition and a yellow flame.
