Doug is one of the nicest people in that category of being a GUITAR GOD that I have ever met. What an awesome person. He just loves playing. I Met him outside of a Whitesnake show about 3 hours before the show. he talk to me forever and took photos and all. WHAT A Gentleman. He is one of my all-time Fav.

Doug was the first guitarist to bother covering Blackmore's Strat sound AND Iommi and Viv Campbell's humbucker tones. I liked the last Heaven and Hell tour, but Dio was limited with Butler and Iommi, that was more of a mutual friendship. Dio took Claude Schnell into the Heaven and Hell fold for that last gig.
Any "Dio" album can be played front to back.....He was the true master of Rock... Doug's a all time GREAT guitar player!!!! Both these guys belong in the ROCK n ROLL HALL OF FAME.....

Doug's got tons of feel! Doug is not happy with the release of the DVD I've read somewhere. I think the "problem" was, he was called to sub for Craig Goldy, and flew in directly, so he had just a few hours to learn the parts, that's why alot of the leads are improvised on the DVD. And the fact that he had alot of trouble dialing in his amps, as they were rental/Graig's gear (heard both, not quit sure), and had to play with the best he could dial in. I personally think Doug's got it all, technique, feel, tone as well as great performing skills and professionalism...
Although he died in 2010 he was probably starting to suffer from the cancer that eventually killed him so was most likely on some kind of medication that affected his voice to some extent. You also have to remember at the time of this video he was 63 so his voice would have change quite a bit from his Rainbow days in the 70's.

Dio was the master, Aldrich is all fast runs and no feeling . Certainly knows his way round a fret board but Blackmore had way more soul and feel.
