Thank you for a very nice and clear video. I have done this flight very many times and love the 747, never any problems. Flying Economy (Coach) is a bit cramped but you can do things to adapt; noise-cancelling headphones are really handy on such a trip. The Brisbane to Los Angeles leg is about 12 hours, the return is about 13 hours depending on winds and weather. People worry about such a long flight over ocean but if you look on the map you pass New Caledonia, Fiji and Samoa so the longest empty stretch is from roughly Samoa to south of Hawaii. Having 4 engines should always give you confidence. Very sad to see the Qantas 747's have been retired, the 787's are nice but may not have quite the charm of the Boeing 747.
Hey Kenny I fully agree with you about her. I don't think there are too many people who don't hold a spot in their hearts for this beautiful old girl. She has literally flown millions of us probably billions of miles safely and comfortably. At least for me, she is part of every awesome adventure or trip I have ever taken, good times and sad. The old Queen makes me sentimental every time.

Superb video, thank you for sharing and congratulations on having such stunning material in your collection! A video for the public is one thing, but one must never forget also the personal vacation memories behind it.
We rode in 2013 from Los Angeles to Brisbane. R.I.P. Qantas Boeing 747. :( Welcome to Boeing 787. Boeing 787 is smaller than Boeing 747. I can’t believe that, some Boeing 747 were removed. I love Boeing 747! It is my favorite.
@@patrickproctor3462 The Jumbo is a great plane. However, I did not like the seats in the middle. No chance to look out of a window. A slightly smaller plane might be more comfortable.
I was impressed with the Brisbane terminal, the natural lighting was fantastic. The Qantas 747 has to be one of the most beautiful airliners flying today. Super video, thanks for focusing on the flying, not the food!
Absolutely loved this film! Thanks so much for sharing. My wish is to get to LAX one day, but in the meantime, I get to enjoy all these great films posted by folk such as yourself!
Yes she was the best in the skyi flew out of brissy many times on her and its a pity airlines look for more fuel economy aircraft.787 dreemliner now. but to think she was built in 1970 is unbelievable now days Long live the Queen as a cargo aircraft 747 dash 8
nice video! It is an amazing accomplishment to construct such a plane. But what is even more astounding is that it is constructed in such a way that nothing can break. Especially when flying ten thousand miles over water
One thing I'll say about Qantas: it's one of the few major airlines which has never had a major crash and never actually killed a passenger (to the best of this yank's knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong). I'd say that's a record they should be proud of and advertise all the time. Anyway, I'm guessing this about a 13 hour flight?
I always sleep well on planes but never so soundly as on a 747. Not sure why -- maybe the sound of those four big engines? I flew first class several times on the 200 in the mid-1990s -- that was a treat -- including once when I was the only passenger upstairs. Only 12 (I think) seats in that model, but still, I felt like I had my own private jet.
Good oh days when qantas actually had a big comfortable plane to fly to LAX. Now they send over the uncomfortable tiny A330-200 with tiny seats. Miss Virgin Australia 777-300 too
Looks like 12 hours in Coach. Did it once from LA to Sydney. Would be highly reluctant to do it again. No lower than Business Class for a haul like that.
Gotta say I do miss the bright red GSE from before all the ground handling was outsourced. They really complete the look of a Qantas plane in the middle of a turnaround.
oh my god what a coincidence! that exact aircraft you flew on (VH-OEJ) is the 747 qantas sadly retired early last year doing the fair well flights before heading off to LAX to soon after be sent off to Mojave Desert’s plane bone yard
Scary? Perhaps the first time. What fascinated me more: I did not get the point of the International Date Line until I crossed it myself on board of a Qantas 747.
Very cool how airlines name planes like they're ships. But do they only do this with the big ones? The A380s and 747s because I don't think I've ever noticed it on the little 737s I fly on the regular.
An excellent video. I'm wondering if yours truly may have been one of the spotters that watched your 747 taxi past at Brisbane? It's nice to see the passenger's point of view of this area. It is always a pleasure to watch QF15/16 arrive and depart Brisbane. She's such a lovely aircraft. Thanks for sharing. I have bookmarked this so I can watch it again ... and again !!
An enjoyable trip report. I wonder if I was one of the spotters you filmed as you took off, of us watching you as you were watching us? Thanks for sharing.
It was not an inflight service review but good enough we had a good look at the loo, it's moisterising soap, the panel saying "not smoking" sign in the toilets etc. and too bad we didn't get a chance to see you taking a leak or more, sitting on it like a king ;-) !
I used to live in Longreach and visited the Qantas Founder museum reguarlary. I miss you dearly Longreach. at 8:00 you can see the dash-8 the plane I have flown on before It is the main aircraft to fly to BNE to LRE.
Hudson Fysh (founder of Qantas) was a great friend of my uncle but I don`t recall ever meeting him though if I had I would have been very young and wouldn`t remember anyway :-)
Saddest part is that come September this route (QF15 / 16) will be flown by the 787; and the last daily 747 service in and out of Brisbane will be gone. I work 2km from the end of runway 19 (the one in your video); I will miss this baby screaming overhead around morning tea time...
Aircraft looks great hopefully Qantas will hang onto the 747ER's abit longer than 2020. a shame Wunala is no longer in its aboriginal livery that looks really great.
YES, THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL AIRLINER AND I LIKE I GUESS "NICKNAME" LONG REACH SINCE IT'S A B747 -ER. SHE'S STILL THE "QUEEN OF THE SKIES"! ALWAYS A HEAD TURNER. THANKS!
Thanks for such a nice vid! I am scared of heights but I love to fly and I always choose flights with the most layovers for the take offs and landings! I’ve never been out of California except to Mexico. So until I get a passport I’ll watch your vids! 😃
I took the LA to Australia trip 5 times, figuring I better ride the 747s while I still can. I returned via Brisbane the past 2 trips in Nov of 2016 and 2017. Always got seat 71K, as there are only 2 seats, and as soon as everyone else was asleep I would visit the cabin crew in the galley and we would talk about the spectacularity of the 747..... I had very good luck in getting cockpit tours upon landing (asking upon boarding if it would be possible to go up after landing), and on descent into LA in Nov 2017 the stewardess told me to gather my carry on as they were putting me in the upper deck in order to make it quicker to get into the cockpit after parking. Unfortunately, Qantas is removing the 747 from US service in Oct, so I am SOL for having another ride. I went to Frankfurt with Lufthansa because I wanted a ride on a 747-8; it was everything I hoped for except at only 8hrs from Chicago, it hardly pays to unbuckle your seatbelt in comparison to the 13 hr LA to BNE route....lol Thanks for posting your video; it reinforces all my good memories of BNE international and Qantas 747s.

Ye they were beautiful, but not as economical, i suppose. I rode in one hardly moved at all.
I always felt safe and relaxed 😊 on the 747 jumbo jetliner what a beautiful aircraft thanks Mr Boeing.
I still find it amazing that aircraft fly with such precision especially over these long-haul flights!
Awesome, always a pleasure to witness the Queen in her final years, thank you.

I’ve flown 3-4 times that route , I really enjoyed them a lot , thank you Qantas
Fantastic video! Love your wing view. RIP Qantas's 744
That's a very clean looking aircraft, Qantas does a good job maintaining them indeed !!
Such a beautiful aircraft!!!😍😍😍 #Qantas747 We are going to miss you guys forever 😪😪😪Long haul travel will never be the same.

Beautiful big Bird with built up with Great engineering....
Love that sight at LAX, a Qantas Boeing 747-400ER and a Qantas Airbus A380 parked side-by-side.
That was an overcast morning for LAX in August. Love the 747.. All series!
Hi .Thanks for that pleasant flight to LA.
Great video. Miss flying Qantas and the 747.
Wonderful flight thank for uploading...,
Great video!! I flew on this exact plane SYD-LAX when it was painted Wunala Dreaming back in 2005! Even saw my seat! (back of the plane)
Thanks for sharing.Nice aviation feel for the enthusiast.Glad you edited the long over the Pacific bit.
There was no edit its 24min flight time!!! I am super excited its so short!!!!😯😯😯😯😯

Very nice enjoyed nice flight good airline Korean nice landing captain Lee good job
That was a great video. Awesome Job.
747's are so incredible !!!
I was surprised at the no reverse thrust on landing! Awesome video!
I love the 747 very comfortable and space
Extremely well made video. Congratulations.
The plane you took that flight (Wunula) was the last b747 for qantas and is now in the Mohave desert! 🥺🥺
Thanks for this. My CNS-BNE-LAX connection was so tight that I had no time to see any of the airport.
I wonder if Aussie planes fly on the left? 😁
I've been an airliner buff since I was four years old and took a flight on an SAS DC-7 from LA to Copenhagen. Still have vivid memories of the flight.
Love the 747, long live the Queen.

Good stuff. Done the flight from Syd - LA many times and I'd love to be going right now but COVID-19 is keeping us in Australia. Great summary.
Fantastic filming. Mythic aircraft going on retirement soon. QOTS is a beauty....
Awesome footage! Love the sounds of the 747, especially the rumbling on take-off =D
