      yeah I'd be curious to know what you went with as well.
      I'm trialing Rouvy right now and it's not bad. I have a Tacx Neo 2T and I've used the Tacx app the most just because it comes in at $10/mo. Zwift is a complete disaster and I wouldn't recommend that crap to anyone. For $15/mo that app has WAAAAY too many flaws/bugs. I haven't used it in over a year so I dunno if they've improved it. But the thing that drove me crazy was if I had a designated hour to ride, i would select a 15.xx mile ride which I should easily be able to do in an hour... 17... 18... 20... or more miles later, I still hadn't completed the course. There's no indicator of distance remaining or time remaining... so you're just left pedaling wondering if and when you'll complete the course. Most of the time I'd have to just stop the ride and not complete the course/route because of time constraints. Plus, I also hated that you had to start a ride in order to access the garage. Those are things I would overlook if it were $5-$10 a month... but at $15 a month that's unacceptable. Not to mention the constant drops of my trainer and HR monitor in the middle of a ride... or when the app would freeze and I'd lose my activity. Haven't had that problem with the Tacx app and so far no issues with the Rouvy app. I do like the Tacx app in that I can upload a GPX file of a real outdoor ride I've done and my trainer will simulate the hills etc. Obviously there's no First Person graphics with that and you're basically following GPS on a map, which is fine if I want to watch football or a movie or something else to distract me from the fact that i'm riding indoors.

      It’s a solid app for someone looking for flexibility and the ability to just import workouts and control their trainer in ERG. Their training plans are new and worth looking into as well and use as a guide. Definitely worth checking out.

    • @EstefanGerheim
      @EstefanGerheim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SmartBikeTrainers Thx for the reply. I checked the app yesterday and it worked flawlessly! It’s simple and straightforward to use. I will definitely try a few more times.. I'm still checking what app i will use in 2022 and since my WO's are written on TP, all I need is an app to just import the WO's and to control the trainer "if on ERG". Unfortunately the new SYSTM doesn’t have this feature. TR is great and expensive. And Zwift is great too but I stopped using it a while ago because i personally don’t need that social/community feature while I’m training. I already tried all of the others apps you mentioned but i didn’t like them so much. Another possibility is to use my element bolt v2 to do the job.. no subscription needed and i think it would also work flawlessly controlling the KICKR. Or what do you think? Thx again for helping us all with your reviews. Cheers

    • @SmartBikeTrainers

    Any chance for a comparison of PC graphics performance? Like Zwift, it's not so great with a high end system if you have an AMD graphics card, but with an Nvidia card it's much better. Would love to know how these apps compare at, say, max/ultra settings on a given PC. Guess I can just load them up and test myself. 😜

    Hey mate I'm getting a set of good cond 2nd hand rollers, Tacz Atreterez, as you would know they're "dumb" so I'm getting speed/cadence sensors. But its so confusing how this all works, are different brands of BLE sensors compatible with different brand apps, or is the firmware proprietary. Can you just connect the sensors to the apps or do you need a cycling computer/intermediary, and since im using rollers, i wont be able to simulate up & down because there's no or little resistance, unless i let air out of my tyres. I don't really care so much for the social aspect, i just want to be able to work out when its raining or its night & I'm bored, work on my speed & cadence, & port my workouts to strava. I'm going for the rollers over a trainer because i have a good deal, but also I've read that its a good way to improve balance, & of course pedal stroke, & balance is important because if I'm not on my road bike I'm on my downhill bike. The other reason for a roller is that i don't have to have a separate wheel with a special trainer tire to put on & remove every time i want to use my road bike to train, which also happens to be my daily commuter, there's tyres like Michelin Sport something or other that can do both. Also which apps work for both indoor & outdoor riding? Sorry so many questions but it's a workout just trying to find the answers haha!

    Thank you for a very informative video. I’ve cut off my Peloton membership and am looking for something new. I only did the scenic rides anyway with my music ( I listen to Italian music during my rides. Question: what is this 20 min trainer thing that measures a baseline so a program can be created? I’ve heard that if you don’t get that right, it may go against you. Is this something I can get for free? That way I have something to enter into the app when I try a new app? I definitely am going to try one of the apps that you mention. I’m just not sure which one yet. I don’t need any bells and whistles. I just need to train for endurance as I want to extend my ride beyond 60 minutes.

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you are referring to the FTP test to establish your baseline. Most apps I mentioned in this video offer the FTP test. Assuming you decide to try Zwift, you can search the workout section for FTP test and you will find different version of it. Also, you might want to watch my latest video I uploaded on FTP and power zones. Hope that helps.

    How does the Tacx training app compare with these others? I think it’s possibly not compatible with non-Tacx trainers? Is Wahoo SYSTM compatible with non-Wahoo trainers? Do all he apps that have real video routes adjust the resistance and speed on the route in ‘real time’ as you ride the route? Sorry I’m a newbie to this.

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Tacx app is currently only compatible with Tacx trainers. Wahoo Systm is compatible with all trainers that support ANT+ and Bluetooth. The video apps I mentioned in this video do adjust video speed and your smart trainer should simulate the routes. So you should feel climbs as the resistance increases with your smart trainer.

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Xert needs to be available on more platforms other than phones. The web player is nice but not intuitive and easy to use. But most importantly, make the web interface easier to understand and navigate. That’s the most complaints I hear from users is how intimidating and complicated the user interface is. Also, support running alongside cycling would be a nice addition.

    • @TDF86
      @TDF86 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I've been TD since basically the beginning and I think the main thing that distinguishes the two is TD's emphasis on aerobic-biased workouts. This is sort of the undergirding training philosophy and will influence - I think - the array of curated workouts.
      When I was with TR, I remember constantly feeling fatigued, like there was always intensity but never enough aerobic training. I've just built my first training plan with the Beta plan builder, and the emphasis on aerobic hours is obvious, and at least on my end of things, super appreciated.
