Maverick, Commanders, and Gen 2 1000cc owners Beware!!! The factory plastic y connection that splits the coolant at the heads, is known to get hot, melt, and burst! (We know from experience!!) Don't risk getting stranded miles from camp or worse getting sprayed with hot coolant!! Step up to OMC's billet 6061 aluminum y fitting!
Thermostat Delete Kit
The can am cooling system comes factory with a bypass on the cooling system. This bypass can recirculate as much as 40% of the coolant back through the engine/radiator. This kit allows one way flow (like any normal cooling setup). Some people will say you need the thermostat, keep in mind, an engine will run at a normal operating temperature regardless of when coolant starts flowing. The only thing to keep in mind when NOT running a thermostat, is to allow your engine to warm up to operating temperature before riding.

Good job guys! Just bought the bypass kit. I live in AZ and my commander 1000 is always going into limp mode when I have two people in it climbing up mountains even with a over sized radiator. I think this kit will do the trick.

Ok I have a question , I bought a new commander and I have 29 mi,es on it as of today lol. Well I pulled out of the garage and got a couple miles from home and next thing I know antifreeze is everywhere well I limped it back home turning off to cool and back on a finally got home. Ok finally my question I live in southern IL could I get away with doing the bypass like u had done. Also how is it working out for you? The commander is in the shop getting fixed under warranty I’ll find out tomorrow what happen .

@@simonbanderas3806 poorly designed thermostat housing ! They fixed it and it come off another three times so I sold the machine and bought a Polaris rzr 900s. I have had no trouble with the Polaris 😁
