    This is definitely on my to do list for this winter. I’ll watch, , observe & learn. I usually have to look at the video 3 - 4 times before I make my first attempt. Thank you so much! I truly enjoyed listening to your tutorial.

    This is the best video I have ever seen on youtube on how to knit the buttonhole band and armhole band! Love all your patterns, they are extraordinary and beginner friendly too! I just knitted the embarker hat, and i enjoyed the experience out of it! Thank you, Ashley!

    Amazing. I have found this video invaluable! Instructions were fantastic. To be able to visualise step by step in video and commentary to go with it has been wonderful. You are a very good teacher and also video maker. To capture the steps for me visually is a critical way of learning... thank you so much... I have now subscribed as you will be my go to TH-cam for knitting tutorials.

    Hi Ashley, thank you so much for sharing your tutorials and patterns. I am a beginner and I am still learning how to read patterns. What do "-" mean in your pattern? For example: Repeat Rows 1-4, -(3, 3, 3, -, -) ? Thank you :)

    • @AshleyLillisKnits
      @AshleyLillisKnits  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Those are for sizes 1-6…. So if you’re knitting a sizes 1, 5, 6 the dash means you don’t do anything, for sizes 2, 3, 4, you repeat rows 1-4 3 times…. Those dashes are placeholders for each size!

    I made this for my mum and it turned out beautifully, thank you so much! Just out of curiosity, why do you only pick up 3 stitches for every 4 when making the border?

    • @danbev8542
      @danbev8542 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Everyone does this. I believe it’s because you are creating horizontal fabric onto a vertical fabric. Rows vs stitches have different measurements.

  • @teri960

    I’m a newish knitter and having trouble with the pattern. Sometimes it says continue rows (x) more times and sometimes for a total of (x) stitches. However, the total # of stitches aren’t adding up for me. I’m making size 3 and when I began the 1st under arm increases. The total was supposed to be 54, but I got 60. Can you help? Is there an updated pattern?

    • @AshleyLillisKnits
      @AshleyLillisKnits  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there! Feel free to message me directly next time! If you’re starting with 38 sts, increasing as the pattern calls says for rows 1 and 2, that’s 40 sts. Each increase row increases the stitch count by 2. Then the pattern tells you to repeat those rows 7 MORE times for a total of 8 increases (the one you already did and the 7 more you need to do). 8 increases is 16 more stitches. If you’ve started with 38 and add 16, you get 54 which is what the pattern calls for. I always write my patterns so that I give the number of increases AND the stitch count to help provide more clarity - it’s not either or. Again, feel free to email me next time - I don’t like to have the details of my paid patterns out there. Thanks!

      @@AshleyLillisKnits I get it now. I’m an idiot, I was getting number of rows and stitch counts confused!!! (Can you tell it’s my first try using a pattern?) 😆 please feel free to delete my original comment ~ and thanks for the quick answer. Love your tutorials.

      @@teri960 no worries at all! We all start reading patterns at some point and all designers have their own style of writing so it can be hard to get used to the different ways! Best of luck and enjoy your vest!! 🧶❤️

    Does this yarn wash up in the machine? I used to do hand washing but I no longer do it because it takes too long for things to dry out in the winter time where I am at. It just gets mildew.. So, can you please review if the yarn pills up after multiple wears or is this a wear once garment?

    • @danbev8542
      @danbev8542 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Just a few ideas from another humid climate…To prevent mildew, set up a small fan on your project. If lying on a solid surface, turn it over several times so the underside drys equally. After washing & rinsing , roll up your sweater in a towel to soak out as much water as possible-possibly twice. Then spread out to dry. Wool is much more resistant to mildew than polyester (acrylic) materials. Also, if possible, hang over a rack with 2-3 rods, so the underside gets air. Don’t leave it in a humid bathroom.
