At least that explains the hre spamming during the last few days. It is really astonishing how much influence beasty has. So please beasty tell te people in the next episode that hre and english suck as bad as Ootd.
HRE was always broken
Around 12:30 when he’s talking about “most banned civs”…..I’ve heard him talking about this before, I think he’s referring to tournaments but I’m not sure what he means? What is this whole banning thing?
In tournaments you can elect to ban a civilization that you don’t want your opponent to use in a match (I’m simplifying)
What is it about Rus that makes high-level players rate them so high. Seems like plat and below, they are just so disappointing.
Wanna play a knight civ? Play french.
Wanna eco boom? Go byz or something
Wanna feudal rush? HRE
They are just very good at basically everything, free early gold, fast and strong religious units, very powerful late game unit comp, anti siege/siege experts, faster woodcutting, faster farming with 500 bounty, can go 3 tc without even going on stone/ minimal workers on gold, basically they have an option for every scenario that can help them keep up no matter what happens.
High level gameplay is typically very aggressive from early on. Civs that don’t have any form of aggression or strong defence off the bat will suffer.
Rus allows you to be aggressive with knights, get gold from bounty, AND the biggest thing is your kremlin which protects you at home and stops early aggression. The Kremlin alone is a huge difference maker at the high level.

THey should add more wildlife types or something to the maps for bounty... could be early prep for the next batch of new/varient civs and perhaps bounty comming to mongoles? aka hunterS? and later on the rus varient and mongol varients and whatnot... :) probablly not..... but F the plebs... and im a pleb.. get good.

if Trump wins, they will buff hre, because hre is a religious civ so they will try to popularize christianity. you should try to get competent with playing hre or playing against hre.

As an unranked player on placement battle 4/5 and having lost every fight solo fight so far on Xbox with controller, while also only a few minutes into the video, I would like to say that HRE is the best.
Japanese are another good controller option. You mass a giant meatball of samurai, and attack move.

im on my journey to mastering my civ. Been playing Chinese only since I bought aoe 4. Currently Gold III, still learning and gathering experiences VS-ing all the other civs. Chinese all the way

I hope not, I found the Scout Micro in Dark Age quite fun and engaging, gives advanced players a bit more to do in Dark Age when you don't really have to focus much otherwise. This game deliberately has easy civs for beginners and harder civs for more advanced players so as to satisfy both groups. It's an intentional design choice, no need to dumb down the Rus. Plenty of other ways to nerf them.
a bit better eco love for delhi might be nice to help fight against FC civs, but overall its still my favorite. maybe another small buff to dome, and better timings on veteran/elite upgrades just so that there's not this gigantic gap upon age up waiting to be able to fight which hurts both in getting post-age rushed, or when you're already behind in aging up and losing to veteran units that hit in 30s-1m.
I would like to see a Delhi/India variation, that is late-game and Elephant focused, instead of Delhi's feudal rush focus.
I feel like there is so much potential for Delhi. The most interesting parts of the civ, the free techs and elephants, are often noob traps. I want Delhi to have an insane late game, tech stacking insanity, and a giant army of elephants destroying everything. If it requires a variant civ to gameplay fantasy a reality, I am 100 on board.
When garrisoned with Archers with poison arrow upgrade, the town center should shoot poison arrows.

Prelate inspire needs nerfing a bit. English farm and white tower need dialing down a little. Rus Boonti needs nerfing down a tweek. Byzantines need a minor nerf to the early cisterns. OOTD desperately needs a lift. French needs a buff to that villager production speed to catch up economically. Japanese needs samurai to have higher attack damage.
What about an overall Tierlist for noobs from gold to low conq ? I wanna see French in F Tier...
French is pretty good in gold and lower
French is very good in gold or lower, especially team games. Natural counter is spearman but French knights are so tanky they usually trade well enough into spears to make spamming them viable.
Because as we all know. Gold and below cannot do too many tech switches. Too much micro for that.
Maybe its because I have a nephew being annoying and clapping for no reason all the time but the clapping in the intro always annoys me lol I know it's stupid petty but I hope he chooses a new "thing" for his intros someday. 😅
In golden: I think HRE and ENG r S tier. The others r just better then you.
Guys pls what the hell is marching drills i can never find this research and i play hre non stop
Faster units
Marching drills is tech that can be research at blacksmith it give all infantry movement speed 10% or 15% cant remember the exact number. Now it changes to civ bones. Not need to research it anymore
Infantry units move 5% faster in dark age and 10% faster afterwards
It was in the Meinwork landmark before but in the last season update they made it inherent to HRE

why does he just keep saying that rus is BASED? I don't really see the point
rus has good answer to all strat, the problem is low leagues doens`t know how read the game and do a properly strat, and pros doesnt play it a lot because of the bans that gets in tournament, you can go 2tc against slow or booming civs, you can go aggro with knights against FC, you can go FC and get relics, the bonuses of rus monk gives is a lot and streltsy is the easy the best cost/dmg
but if you make the wrong answer to what enemy are doing its like any other civ
I think french is the weakest civ , its super easy to defend knights ,and the game is super biased towards defensive civs, and the low skill high reward civs like hre and English are abused by nabs

Your takes are s-tier except for byz. Byz has a less than 50% win rate at all levels. S-tier tournament results from this weekend- other than some magic from demu it once again looked bad, including Wam's destruction with Malians against you and you played well with Byz that game. Byz is basically the OP civ that just happens to lose consistently at all levels of play - kekw.

Rus always in top , but I don’t feel his horses are really good , why are they op always ?
japanese should get a buff to the eco, giving tier 1 upgrade to main TC for reaching castle age for example.

Mali outpost landmark should buff all outposts and not receive individual buff so you don’t have to put it on the route

Not even a single mention of how Meinwerk is still used by basically no one and needs a rework.
If you nerf inspiration directly, you nerf Meinwerk even harder than Aachen Chapel, despite Meinwerk being the high-risk option because prelates can always be sniped, cost more and require constant attention, though they give some mobility.
I'm sad that as one of the few people who play solely Meinwerk because it's actually FUN to play with prelates (as the civ was intended) and slightly tankier units, I feel like
being constantly overlooked as collateral damage to strike at the Aachen meta chasers.
It's also a bit jarring that two tier lists ago (April 2024), when the Marching Drills change dropped, Beasty rated HRE as "B-tier": th-cam.com/video/DLwVuiGniQA/w-d-xo.html
And before that (February) as "C+" or "C-tier", even including the water maps: th-cam.com/video/oIKkmx0zOXg/w-d-xo.html
It's jarring because purely patch-wise (ignoring meta changes), literally nothing has actually changed for HRE itself since the February "C-tier", except for the Marching Drills becoming free and then nerfed, prelate getting +1 range and Meinwerk getting +10% speed+cost.
I guess I should've probably also mentioned the general sheep and fishing boat changes, but two of the tier-lists were land-focused and the sheep haven't been mentioned.

HRE has needed hard nerfs this this game came out. Absolutely disgusting civ
As a gold player currently I am constantly playing against English, its not that hard since I can predict the same build order and game plan that gets played over and over. Its just annoying is all and if you don't kill them before white tower goes up or are able to match their production and eco than things start to get a little dicey.
I would remove white tower, and keep berkshire in imperial. 2 keep landmarks is too good and a castle keep landmark, feels too strong on English.
Why rus is s tier? I think it between a and b, no healers in 1 and 2 era, when i play against ai they look like smurfs against str nations like gers, english. Japan instead is a monste civ, with waves of infantry, very easy against ai
You can't use the AI as a reference 😅He's also talking about >conq 3 players. Rus is very strong because it's easy for them to build a 2 tc with the Kremlin. Then they have knights in the feudal era. Strong late game because of streltsy and better siege.

So in the end after they rework Rus we are gonna end up with English and HRE on top again. Nothing has changed since this game came out. Sure every civ had some broken mechanic once in a while but overall this game just never stops disappointing.
Best disclaimer ever. Love this direct words. Delhi is see s tier in my optioning, beefy hard to play against, and Japanese similar b tier. But I am a Diamond noob;) and agree: I love byzantin. Not my best civ, but damn I love playing them. Feels like every round is totaly differently
