I got mines when it first came out, and I'm still software updates, and it works just as fine and fast as any other phone on the market I've seen today ...tbh, the only phone I would upgrade it to, is the Fold

@@strafer288Every phones stops getting new version updates after a few years. It won't ever get "slower" but over time apps become more demanding and will require more work for your phone.

I got the S22 Ultra when it first came out. The phone still works great and it does what I need it to do. I usually do upgrade every 2 years but given that the newer generations look similar to the S22 Ultra (I know the S24 Ultra has the new AI thing going on but that isn’t tempting me!) I’m quite happy to keep my current phone for at least one more year.
How's the thermals and the battery life?
I have both, s24u is definitely nice but not a mind blowing difference. Wait for the s25u.
What about the phone screen?

I got my s22 thebday it came out and it rocks amazing camera and does everything i need it to do flawlessly.
Recently upgraded to a s24 u from a s22u only reason why was cause the battery was draning fast after i got the screen replaced due to a chip but its not worth upgrading if youre phone runs fine i would've kept mines if i didn't have the battery issue
Was a week away from paying off my 22U when the battery started draining from 100% to 20% in like 2 hours. The issue turned up like overnight. A bit suspicious to me.
Mate i am still using my Samsung Galaxy S8 until this year when 5G kicked in which forced me to replace my phone. I will be buying a Samsung S22 Ulta. In phone language for me using S22 Ultra would be like using the "Wheel" for the first time 🤣🤣🤣

There's a sale right now on Samsung's site on the S22U. On top of that they're also doing massive trade in deals for being green and all that. Trading in my current S21 for a S22U for $367 which is pretty much only 1/3 of the initial price.
I have s22 ultra and i love it. I will not change this phone, before samsung dont make a 20x optical zoom camera or 10x optixal with 100-200megapixel.. now the 10x optical zoom with 10 megapixel is still the best zoom camera in 2024.. so for me i can wait for some years..😁
There is a reason why samsung removed the 10x lens on the s24 ultra...... Also honor has made the magic6 pro with a 180 megapixel 2.5x zoom lens

Bought mine for 320€ with the screen slightly cracked. I love this phone, even if it uses exynos 2200 instead of snapdragon gen 1

My S22 Ultra is now updated to One UI 6.1, with the AI access like the S24 Ultra. Why should I upgrade? It's a mere waste of money upgrading to the S24 Ultra. All the hype about the S24 Ultra is not even noticeable in real-life experience.
I was considering getting a S24+ and trading my S22U. I love my S22U but I feel like I might be starting to get annoyed with the size. This phone is MASSIVE lol. At first I thought I wouldn't care and would love it no matter what. But I find myself wishing it was smaller these days

Smaller phone, 7 years support, AI features for a few years
Cons
The only thing I would be worried that I'd be giving up is: battery life & camera quality

@StormerG yeah the s22 ultra is a beast. I love the curved screen, I love the size, battery is a beast, cameras are perfect, it can still game, the s pen is amazing for jotting down quick notes when you need to

I had the note 9 until 2 years ago. Now I've got some google pixel and NEED to go back to a galaxy. The note 9 was my favorite phone I've ever had, this seems like an updated version
I have a S24 ultra and as much as I love the display coming from a Pixel 7 pro I miss the curved display
600 ???? With a bit of patience, in central europe, you can buy one for ~350€. And in any case I wouldn't pay more than 400 € for it
Still good for camera and videography needs.
Only thing holding me back is it heats relatively fast even on normal use and the curved screen which you'll find it hard to find good screen protectors and having to go naked got me some scratches.
Also the battery life is abysmal compared to S23 Ultra. It drains really fast, especially with the 1440p and 120hz panel.

Should I upgrade from an S8 it works decent, however it is not worth fixing, it overheats and recently the screen is going green. Should I get an S22 or somthing newer ideally I like the S22 and they are similar to the others
I bought s22 ultra yesterday.I update it to one ui 6.after that battery draining very fast and without using.. And when I opens a game Or apps like Instagram it's heating. And it's display got green screen one side ( backlight bleeding) it can fix temporarily when display hz decrease to 60 fps🥲. But it's not a solution for long run.
Had mine since launch. The S23 Ultra was a decent upgrade in terms of battery life & new chip but not enough to justify an upgrade. I love the flat screen on the S24 Ultra, not sure how I feel about the AI. If the S25 Ultra is a more refined version of what we just got in the S24U with the same body/model, I'll make the jump as it might be the last Galaxy with this slab design before they switch it up, and I love this design.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is still a phenomenal smartphone and extremely good piece of tech in the year 2024. I think the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was the beginning of a new legacy for Samsung and it only improved on this with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. All three of these phones are insanely powerful, incredibly reliable, and just an absolute joy to use with hardly any noticeable issues within their design, hardware, and software. This is why the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra are my top 3 favorite smartphones ever made.
Seeing the comment here, most Snapdragon variant are still comfortable with their S22 Ultra today, meanwhile those Exynos variant are basically nonexistent 😂 always stick with Snapdragon, or you need to upgrade every year

I got mine back in 2022 with insurance and I'm glad I did. The screen cracked a month back & asurion replaced the screen and battery. It feels like new & has full battery capacity. It's still snappy too, so I should be good for another few years.

It was a good phone for me, until October 2023 update which completely killed my service. No data, can't get online or send a text to save my life. Another update in January 2024 just made it EVEN WORSE!! Wifi drops, Bluetooth drops. I'm basically carrying a brick now 😢😢😢😢

Just buy a gaming phone if you’re really into mobile gaming, Blackshark, ROG Phone or Redmagic. It’d be stressful to game on a tiny iPhone 13 Pro. Also don’t take my word for it, do your own research, buy whatever is comfortable to you.
You can find it for pretty cheap now, 500 and up and it's better than any phone in that price range even if it has its drawbacks.

Still going great with my Samsung note 10 plus 🎉. With 12 GB Ram and 256 GB memory browsing is stuill seamless experience. Only issue is Battery drains fast when usig GPS or it lasts till whole day.
8K looks and feels very laggy and it takes up a lot of space so you're probably going to end up not using it, and even at 60 frames in video, it's really bad at tracking moving things, and it has a weird delay when moving the phone, and yes the zoom is very far but it's laggy, and that might not matter much for the end photo result, but in video it's quite bad, and it heats up very easily to the point where it's too hot to hold the phone, i have to use power saving mode so it doesn't
Purchased a 512g version pristine condition for £415. I'm very pleased with it, 1 year warranty also.
my power button has fallen off and the cost to fix this is over $600 because you have to take the phone apart. Samsung should be ashamed of themselves. how can a button fall off and not be simply be replaced
This phone has a powerful chip and one of the best cameras out there till this day. I bought a 2nd hand s22u and I love it. I'd rather get this than a new 2024 phones out there in the market.

I got one i need to use my insurance on my phone plan to fix the screen but I got it for 375 and it's 30 for the screen fix so 405 for an s22 ultra
There are lots of signal issues, poor support from Samsung, good tablet otherwise, but calling it a phone is a bit of a stretch...

Folks, I dont know why you call that phone into question for 2024 at all.. Sure it is still a flagship and sure it is more than enough for the most of us.. I am still using a S6 ✌😁 I am a really hardcore smartphone user since I dont use a desktop pc. Its just the poor battery and the low on-board space what sucks.. but for my use, I can do everything I want without problems. Back then when the S6 came out, it was also a flagship and it's quality is imo still better than the most plastic-built phones. I have the white one- the front and back are without a scratch. The camera is more than enough for me. At day, at night, with low light, at every situation, the photos are good enough 👌

My question is: should you buy an older phone from a more popular brand OR a phone from a less known brand but that has newer specs? For me, this choice is hard beacuse the s22 ultra has a better software overall than the z60 ultra, but the z60 ultra has better specs.

I got one when it launched, sad to say I had to let it go once I knew I got a lemon (overheating as well as bad battery drain, which Samsung couldn’t really do anything about other than saying don’t use 5g or 4K recording).
Looking at the S23 and the recently announced S24 I should have held on to my S10 for a year longer so that I could have made the switch after Samsung got their SoC squared away.
