- For the final of the year I did a compilation of stunning dioramas which I´ve discovered on display at the exhibitions 5. Fürstenfelder Modellbautage, Augsburger Modellbautage and at the 12. International Modellbau Ausstellung Ried 2019.
I hope you like it :-) ... please let me know your opinion about this kind of compilation in the comments down below … if your response is positive I can do some aditional compilations for the Cars, Aircrafts and Military Vehicles of the shows I visited 2019.

Those of the wrecked vehicles in landscapes are real art works mastering composition accuracy and colour of complex scenes...Bravo.

Happy to see the art of military modeling is not dead. I spent possibly too many hours bent over models and dioramas as a kid and teenager. Still love to look at them!

It is quite clear to me how much love and enjoyment and yes no small amount of frustration at times, that was put into each one of these dioramas. I look at them and not only enjoy the composition of the diorama but immediately notice the small things that I imagine what the creator was feeling at the time of completion and know the satisfaction that comes with it.

I used to research the terrain of where the diorama was to get the right color dust, mud, plants, etc. Also the units in the area. Their uniform colors, the unit designations painted on the vehicles and era weaponry.
One time the hobby shop where I purchased my supplies had a week of displays. My contribution was a scene from 1941, Eastern Front. A Mk III was paused for a moment while a Heer soldier was standing on tank, next to the turret pointing out to the tank commander his next target. Meanwhile some mounted Heer soldiers were leaping off a Mercedes truck, behind and to the tanks side for cover, and rushing forward.
Nice diorama. Unfortunately someone else thought so as well and purloined the scene for themselves while the store owner was distracted. Oh well, that's life in America. I still enjoy the mastery of the good folk you have on your great vlog.

16:15 - the wrecked half-track is my favourite. It would have taken some time to deconstruct the original kit.

You guys are great. You should do a diorama of a half way through still of troops hosing down a tank. Clean and mud on the same vehicle, plus you get the water on the ground and coming out of the hose pipe. I think it would look awesome. Love the vids Deano 🇬🇧

Just shows me how shit I am at painting figures. Most modellers can make a tank look good, but figures is a whole new ball game. For me anyway. Nice video...cheers

They ARE the GREATEST GENERATION. If we had to do it today it would be left up to me and a bunch of other 50 somethings cuz we're THE LAST REAL MEN in existence 😂🤣😂🤣 1 in 10+ of these snowflakes these days have what it takes 😂🤣

Some really great attention to detail on many of the pieces, but I wonder why so many builders fail to set the tracked vehicles down into their ground cover a bit, or worse, show no churned up turf or tracks in the dirt behind the vehicles? They just looked like they're plonked down into place with no sense of weight or mass...curious.
Hi Jeff ... you are pointing out an interesting subject ... it seems that the separate creation of landscape and vehicles cause that the two world dont get the proper weight in there connection after the "wedding" ... maybe ... and i can just guess ... that some modelmakers are affraid to bond ther vehicles permanently to the ground?! ... but anyway ... if you see it ... you can change it ... happy modelling ... cheers Make*

The military themed ones, some of them are unfortunately a little too sterile. Knocked out vehicles that fail to show the price payed by their crews

Well... Some good, some... not so good - interesting to see that when the modeller has less interest for people than mechanical stuff, the figure painting suffer. And why is it that so many modellers can't do direction in their dioramas? If three guys are looking THIS way, why isn't the fourth doing it as well? Making dioramas should be about telling a story about what has happened, will happen or is actually happening right now - but if you have three groups of figures doing six different things, then there are only six vignettes put together.
Well ... thanks mate ... some very interesting observations! ... I think there are, as always, many angles from which one could look at this. I think that many model builders start with the vehicles and then add the figures ... which ultimately leads to what you have observed. To stage a coherent scene without contradictions and with a good story, however, is a great challenge. Ultimately, it is a hobby and not a professional engagement ... People follow their imagination but also a certain goal or focus ... that's why all works of art always tell something about the peculiarities and vanities of the artist ... which in turn leads to a lot of personality within the work itself. So I think that a compilation of many artists always has a kind of abundance and lack in it ... when looking at many works by one artist, this changes dramatically ... Ich bin Amateur im Modellbau und befinde mich gerade am Anstrich meines ersten Versuchs, einem Dingo A2. Jedoch schaffe ich es einfach nicht den richtigen Farbton für den 3-Farb-Tarndruck (Wüstentarn) zu mischen. Kannst du mir verraten, wie du zu den beiden Farbtönen, wie sie bei deinem Dingo / Fennek im Video zu sehen sind, gekommen bist?

9:50 The topless woman in the bath.. I've done WAY WAY WAY ruder than this!!! Some naked Belarussian farm girls having a strip- wash on the main (40 foot) tank diorama, some girls washing a Churchill tank, and another of a waterfall scene with girlies' swimming and sunbathing, which is REALLY REALLY graphic!
I very much doubt they would allow me to display this.

Nothing more than German vehicles. That's all you model builders ever show, or it's either something of Star Wars or Star Trek and Fantasy. Can't you people build something else?
Hi Daniel ... indeed the german WW2 vehicles are the most common on this shows ... but i think there might be shows with much more figures, Fanasy and Starwars themes. The World Model Expo at Eindhoven maybe?! In my case, I can just visite the shows i my area so maybe you should have a look on FB or YT for other shows. Cheers Markus

I've been thinking about your indisposition and I think I also wouldn't use blood in my dioramas ... but ... everyone likes to tell their stories in different ways ... so ... who ever used this way to tell his storys has to sort it out with itself ... my opinon was to show you on this channel a bunch of amazing and breathtaking Diorama artwork without judging any detail ... but thank you very much for showing your conviction, see you soon, greetings Markus
If one uses blood in the diorama it should be used sparingly, say wound/bandage. I read that years ago by Shepard Payne, who did the Monogram model dio's. Hope I spelled his last name correctly. Just recently got back into modeling as my kids are all grown and my career is winding down to retirement. Just working on my skills now.
