OMG what a review... its like awatching a movie but step by step....! Congratulations for all the work that you put in creating your videos
Thanks - this was a labor of love and I'm really proud of how it came out!
hello carbon scoring. i just want you to know i used you as a part of my school project. thats how much i love this channel
I've just reread the comics and then watched the whole video. What a great job you did. Thank you for adding some of the details!
Appreciate that - I wanted to tell the story, but provide some greater context while doing so!
How does this video not have enough appreciation? Fantastic video! Im more of a spiderman fan to batman but i love both with my heart.
Glad you enjoyed it! I poured my heart and knowledge in this one!
Really enjoying this video. I was a fan of the DCUC one I had, I had the black and gray version but I always preferred the look of the blue/yellow costume for Batman. Mafex looks gorgeous, but the only thing I didn’t care for on the blue version was the chest bat emblem looks more like the classic trademarked logo you’d see on a t-shirt as opposed to the way Miller drew it in the books. I never got any of the Mafex because I was happy with the Mezco versions, but man…they really do look like amazing figures to pose around.
I ended up getting the Mattel Carrie Kelley for like $5 back in the day. For that price, I couldn’t pass it up. She looks good with any version of TDKR Batman, so I was happy to pick her up.
That first DC Direct version of Batman was a huge deal for me, I went to the comic shop in my college town and bought it. Loved it despite the leg on mine breaking.
Great overview. I never kept track of just how many TDKR figures they’ve made over the years, it’s awesome seeing so many options. Loved the video!
Thanks for the watch and sharing your history with the figures and the character - you got a steal on that Carrie Kelly and I agree - if you weren’t around at the time, it is impossible to imagine just how big a deal that DC Direct Dark Knight line was!!!
DC Direct did a variant of Joker that is the same as the Mcfarlane version. It was part of a 2 pack.
There are two more Mafex figs that are variants that give us versions of Batman and Superman as they appeared on the cover of the 4th issue where theyre in silhouette.
I have the Joker, but I didn’t know about the silhouette versions - very cool - thanks!
I'm very happy you have THE DARK KNIGHT in its original 4-issue format. 😀
Personally, I've always been (unfairly, BTW) critical of Frank Miller's Batman (BATMAN: EGO is my favorite Batman story), but I think I must read it back after doing extensive research on the topic, mainly because despite guys like Denny O'Neil, Neal Adams, Len Wein, or Jim Aparo, the character was comercially underwhelming, and DC was close to giving up on their character... until Miller came in. What was cool about Miller's Batman is, not only did he resurrect Batman for good, but he also turned into a positive force of good, one violent and brawlish, but a force of good nonetheless, and, like a Son of Batman from that miniseries, he's inspired me in a certain way on a personal level (even though I'm neither as violent nor obssessive as Batman, 😅).
I love the Batman so thank you carbon scoring
Happy to do it - I loved working on this!
Excellent video. Fantastic content here.
Much appreciated! Keep coming back for more!
Absolutely love this man, this was the perfect intersection between figs and comics, thanks again! Also was that a Clemson shirt?
Oh, it most absoultely was a Clemson shirt! The only thing I love more than comics and action figures is my alma mater!
@@CarbonScoring love it! I’m a huge college football fan, my alma mater is Tennessee, go vols!
@@stevenkilboy1319 ahhhh - you got us in the Orange Bowl last year! Plus I’m still bitter about Rick Barnes…
@@CarbonScoring lol yeah I can understand that, he’s done a ton for the basketball program. How do you feel about Dabo, I’ve got a few friends that are clemson fans that want to see him stay but I’m curious. I also saw his buyout is insane too lol.
@@stevenkilboy1319 He is a friend. One of the finest, most honorable men I know and I would never have anyone else as my coach. He is also, sometime to his detriment, the most honest person I have ever met. But he is so clear on his values and morals and certain that doing things the right way IS the right way. Don’t let media noise influence you too much, Coach Swinney is a great football coach and an even better man.
There is a second version of the Beast Kingdom Batman, but with the grey and black costume, which I preffer
Very cool - I’ll hunt that down - thanks!
@@CarbonScoring It costs under 100 bucks (or should anyways, i got mine for 75), and its worth it
@@legolasstudios perfect! Thanks again!
The 80s were the greatest decade for mainstream comics!
I mean, as a child of the 80’s, I’m biased - but you are TOTALLY right!
This is incredible, I would love to know your creative process when it came to putting this whole video together!
I really appreciate that - this is a video I worked on for a long time - I’m glad you liked the effort. I really wanted to create the best combination of the comic history and work in the incredible figures to go along - I plotted it out to have each chapter focus on different characters then let the story tell itself!
My goodness, I can't even begin to imagine the amount of time it took! It honestly feels like a documentary you might see on TV or a subscription service! It all comes together so amazingly!
McFarland’s coming out with a new dark Knight returns Batman figures that mean the video is gonna have to be redone
Yeah - new stuff is always coming out!
I have a question, what's your favorite Batman comic storyline?
Year One
I wish I could post a picture in the comments, I have a very young picture of myself in a batman costume too. My dad made it for me and it was awesome but it was Batman the animated series that had a big impact on me.
I would love to see it!
You should make a video on batman hush?
FANTASTIC IDEA! I’m gonna put that on the list!
Hey is it ok if i will do an tournament of marvel spiderman 2 suits like what you did last time with the marvel legends spiderman action figures?
Go for it! I’d love to see that!
@@CarbonScoringthx
Awesome great video and collection
Thanks so much! Very proud of this video!
I NEED an irradiated ghoulish superman figure
Who doesn’t???
why havint you macke iron spidr mist re box
YAY LETS GOOOO
Good times!
I have to be honest, I'm the biggest Batman fan you'll ever meet. I love Batman. He's my favorite superhero. The dark knight returns series I have never liked. I don't like the aesthetic I don't like the storyline.
That’s interesting and a less common opinion - hopefully this video made you look at it in a new way
This Batman is a good Batman famous really good comic. If you think about this comic, technically almost ruined Batman’s character because it made things darker what you know you need to do it, but this is that time they overdid it and kind of ruined the character you think about it people will get mad at me. I’ve seen this, but it is a factual truth even though you say it’s not you you know damn deep down it is I do love your videos. I hope you feel better and bye.👍🙏
Man thank you for making this video bro! I loved your other series you did early this year about the DKR. You’re one of the only TH-camrs that covers these figures while including the source material. Absolutely love this video and your Batman and Spider-Man content. Keep it up man!!
Glad you enjoy it! I pour my heart into these, it makes it worth it to get comments like this!
Awwww man carbon I'm sorry I missed the last stream as well this one
I got a few a questions that I wanted to ask:
1) Do you like Dragon Ball? If so, do you think we are expecting a dragon ball mystery box?
2) Which Marvel/DC character do you have a crush on?
3) What time period do you think suits my Spider-Man story?
Also carbon, I have my exams coming soon and from the looks of it I might have to miss more of streams
Keep me in your prayers.
Your fan,
Shafiul.
No stream these past couple of weeks - will be back next week!
1. I know virtually nothing about Dragon Ball
2. Kitty Pryde
3. 80’s but with the older Pete
Crush your exams, maybe friend!
I agree. Kitty’s great.
@@CarbonScoring you should check out Dragon Ball or My Hero Academia it's a good series it's like Marvel & DC
That was a full on retrospective!
Always loved that blue/gray/yellow color scheme for Batman. That figure that includes the hip belt has the hues for those colors perfectly balanced.
Glad you enjoyed it! Poured a ton of effort into this one!
Hey carbon scoring just wanted to let you know that there are these pretty cool documentaries called Masterpiece: Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and Heart of vengeance: returning batman to his roots that anyone can watch on TH-cam. Their pretty fun to watch for any one who enjoys Frank Miller's versions of Batman.
Thanks, man! I’ll check that out!
That was amazing. Love the history and the way you bring the comics and figures to life. I always learn so much when you do these type videos. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks my friend - these types of videos take the most work, but they are also the ones I am most proud of
The Animated Seties armored Batman is from the tail end of the DC Direct line when the name of the line changed and the card backing was yellow. All of those figs/characters appeared in the shortlived resurrection of a new animated series comic that featured DC characters that never appeared in the show thus this armored Batman.
There’s still a wave that got announced right before dc direct went under that never got released. Hopefully McFarlane will release them since he’s putting that line back out with new characters.
I’d love to see those released!
great video, I only got the armored Batman from the McFarlane 2 pack, much closer to the comic version but I think the best version would be a kidbash of the grey and blue verions
Yeah - that would probably work as a combo
Mafex all the way I hope they do the mutant leader . The mutants gang 2pk, Alfred . Regular cloth Kelly , etc )
OOOOO - I want those too! I do have the MAFEX horse pre-ordered! Thanks for the view - I worked hard on this one!
How do you keep your old comics in such great condition?
Nothing fancy - just bagged and boarded and stored in longboxes
@@CarbonScoring perhaps I should try that, but I always take them out to read them again.
@@Deeno80 they were meant to be read and enjoyed - very few are gonna get rich with their comic collections, I say read them!!!
@@CarbonScoring agreed!
Great collection 👌 me to have This collection 👌
Thank you 😃- I poured my heart into this one!
Best bat man story
Epic for sure!
4th that all I wanted to say…… ok bye
Hey sorry i haven't commented in a while. i just dont really like Star Wars and Invinsable. i like Marvel and DC. but i will never forget about you and still love all your vids and content! Keep up the good work.
Welcome back! I try to make videos of a number of different topics - partly to keep me interested in this - but I’ll always come back to the Marvel stuff!
absolutely love your videos, keep it up man!
