  • In this meditation we investigate ourself, the element of experience that is always present, and allow the objective elements of experience to fade into the background. We rest our attention in this ever-present 'I'.
From the seven day retreat at Buckland Hall, winter 2018.

There are those who are rather Jnana-based and prefer study and practices more. There are also those who are Bhakti-based who gravitate towards devotion. They may be different approaches and some do both or crossover, but they reach the same ocean.
You could say that the devotion some have for a Guru, like Mooji, is the candle flame for the moth that attracts them to the teachings he presents, while the seeking of knowledge and practices one might obtain from teachers like Rupert, et al, are another kind of candle.
The seeker vanishes in the search.

True devotion is to the 'here now', not a guru. A worthwhile teacher would make that distinction very clear

(resume) Don't touch the feeling (sadness, boredom, hunger, being in love, depressed), but emphasise the 'I am" aspect of your experience instead of it's content, let the objective content of your experience fade into the background and emphasise your Being, your self, not your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. I am not a bundle of thoughts (thus beliefs and conditioned reactions), perceptions and feelings, I am the space in which they come and go (the screen vs the movie).
Most people live in their thoughts, actions, relationships, life situations rather than abiding in the self; they get totally absorbed by the movie, not aware of the being. When I say: Be aware of the being, it implies that there's a difference between being and we who is aware of it. That is not meant to be. The I that I am is the same one that the I that knows it is aware. Our own being knows itself, it's self-aware / self-knowing. Our own being is not known by anything other than itself. Being is the best known experience there is but most people are so fascinated by the content of their experience that they overlook the being. It's just buried under layers of experience. For the one that is lost in the drama of experience (relating, acting, thinking,...), the being is so thoroughly mixed with experience that it becomes invisible. Enlightenment is the recognition, the revelation of the nature of our essential being, a being that we already are but that is obscured by experience. So awakening is the recognition of the nature of our being that lies in the heart of all experience. Ask yourself: What is the nature of myself before my self is qualified / conditioned by experience? Who is the I that remains the same when awake, dreaming or deep sleeping? What remains always the same throughout all our life experiences? (The screen, not the movie, but in fact the screen and the movie)

Veronica Maggio many people get stuck here. Nothing is wasted in knowing the true self. When someone is vacuuming, washing the dishes, attending a funeral or changing a diaper that is part of the whole experience of existing in the world of form. People who are awakened are everywhere doing ordinary activities. Whatever we are doing is just what is happening. Our activities are a demonstration of our uniqueness. However, it is not what we do, but how we do it that is the essence of who we are. Simple tasks become part of the joy in being alive when we no longer label them as chores or they can remain chores and we just grind through them. The most important thing is to be aware of your experience. Only then can you know who you are. If you are resisting something you can explore who is resisting it. Everything is just what is happening. Activities can be done or not done. If you choose not to do them, then see what arises. Is there fear that your house will become a mess, that you won’t earn money to have food or that you will be judged by others depending on what actions you take? Sit with everything that arises and then you will know what is right for you. Maybe, like me you quit dusting forever. Maybe you put your time into gardening and volunteering and earning less and you allow or be the watcher as people have their own responses to your choices. Freedom is not free. Freedom means you give up minding what others think and feel. They are free also to have their own responses to your choices. Many people shy away from becoming awakened when they realize there is something to be lost before something is gained . When one is willing to go there and stops minding what the world thinks, then this is liberating, but many simply can’t break free of being a slave to expectations of others or they want others to be OK with their choices and this is also expecting which is attachment. Who is forcing you to do anything? Only you. In order to know all of the deeper I, it must be experienced for itself. Nothing matters all that much, but we act like it does because we play out the roles on the screen and read a script instead of going within and finding our own dialogue and actions. In order to know who we are we must drop many things. Try not doing the things you mentioned and see how it feels. Who is anxious? The one who is anxious doesn’t exist. It is just a fleeting emotion , perception or sensation that is impermanent. The only thing that never changes is your awareness “behind “ all that ( the screen) . We are here to live life as fully as we can and for each person this is different experience. It’s al perfectly fine. For some, living fully means routine and family, for others it is adventure and risk. As Shakespeare said, “Nothing is good or bad, only thinking makes it so.”

Have you seen it if it is here and there . Have you feel it if it is inner or outer ... but people drop their eyes down, their face turned sad.. ........... people know everything without having it..............
Then he asks from animals and animals glare at his face with strange silence, then he asks from trees and trees remained silent , then he asks from flowers and flower remained in stillness ...then he asks sky and stars and all remained silent... then he understood that only one and same answer , just silence , just stillness. Then he turned to knowing masses with encyclopaedia of words in their heads and he left his attire of words to them and dived into stillness.

"I’m so caught up in experience. It’s such a burden"...are just thoughts. The only mistake is the "me-stake"...that who you are is the body and the mind (thoughts). Stop giving attention to negative thoughts such as these. Of course it takes practice. The practice will happen when the desire for liberation is great enough. How much is it wanted? As much as a person being held underwater wants the next breath? When the desire is strong enough, the remembering and practice flow... It can be helpful to continuously chant internally "I am not the body, I am not the mind, there is no personal "I"... So many sages and saints point to the fact that spiritual practice has to be continuous to really yield results...

It is good to know that you know what you need. Existence is being caught up in experience because without experiences and objects, etc. what is then left to be caught up in? Without struggling to get out of what just is, you find that the resistance to what is is more the point because what is what is just as it is.
These kinds of meditations sink right in and you can relax into the nature of it/you. If you are caught up in experience right now then that is what you are right now, so be that just as it is and as the awareness of it the burden is only relative to your concepts at that point.
Things are more like they are right now then they ever were before!

Can you be conscious aware of I Am when you're a baby or foetus in the womb? I don't remember being aware as a baby. Is awareness a blank slate until a finite mind appears around the age of 2...?

    • @jonathansolero7
      @jonathansolero7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Awareness is the only real substance and all there is.Time is a reflection of the limitations of the finite mind...
this limitation creates linear time, and the projection of being born and dying. Awareness does not have memory because memory is finite product of the mind, awareness is infinite and dimensionless it simply is.

Well, that was not necessarily wasted money. Why? Well, I don't think I am rationalizing it when I say that we can spend a lot of many on many distractions over the course of a lifetime, (and I am sure you can think of many) and, if we discover what we truly are by trial and error on in the contrast, that makes it well worth it.

    • @Wolczkow

It seems that you are still looking for it. As if your thinking is in search for it, and whatever it finds, of course questions and rightly find out that it could not be that. You are still looking for it as an objektive experience.
The thinking and the questioning itself is an objective experience which can be watched.
Stop looking for it. It’s obvious that „you are“. And this what „you are“ is experiencing all your thinking and searching. Just remain in the obvious knowing of what you are without trying to find it as objective experience. You cannot find it as an object. Remain in the obvious knowing of that you are, not in looking for it.

I have found meditation gurus to be quite dangerous. Nothing against them, everything in life is dangerous. There are no easy solutions. That said, if there is shit you need to straighten out in your life, you have to dig deep and find a way to do it. And meditation gurus can convince us that they're just meaningless "thoughts" that aren't connected with reality. No! Your kid needs to eat! That's not a thought, that's a responsibility. I know it probably rare gets to be that ridiculous, but it can. I heard one lady get up and ask Mooji whether she should attend to the responsibility she has to her family or just continue to meditate and he was basically like "meh, whatever you want." These teachings can convince us that other people don't exist. That we're all existing in one big ball of energy and there is no differentiation between you and me. I'm not saying that's what this guy is saying, but my god what worthless slop this is. Literally anyone can do it. Try it out yourself. Sit there with your eyes closed, just breathing and see if you can't talk about meaningless oneness nonsense like him.

Im no awakened man but you seem to have completely miss the point and twisted the situation according to your own beliefs and doubts and are out here labelling everything as nonsense. Chill, your actions/responsibilities and seeking CAN go hand-in-hand. You can attend to your son's need and still be able to inquire about the source of the thought that "My son is hungry".

@@neodein Yes of course there is meaning behind everyone's words, even spiritual gurus'. Take Spira's utterance at 22:52 where in the moments before -- in his feigned silence -- his breath is shortened, his eyes dart and his fingers writhe in worry. He says "Our own being is not unfamiliar to us. It is simply buried underneath or behind layers of experience". He is afraid to talk about himself so he says that "WE bury our true nature". Do we? Or is that just him? Maybe he does that with his addiction to pottery? Or maybe with his addiction to food or sex? I'm not sure what his personal struggles are, but he seems anxious and dissatisfied and is projecting his personal problems onto the world.
So yes, I must apologize and I do agree with you. There is in fact great meaning to be found behind each person's words, even in the words of those who pretend to be able to tell us the will of the universe. But there is ALWAYS more meaning in the sound of the wind (the universe itself)
