    Fascinating discussion! My Mum died last week in the UK, however I live in Australia. I was woken in the middle of the night by a feeling that someone stroked my cheek whilst I slept. I woke with the feeling that something was wrong yet passed it as a strange dream. In the morning when I woke up properly, I had received a text message from my sister, who lives in the UK, that my Mum had died due to illness. I’m not religious and very open minded, but I think this may have been a final connection from my mum before she left. Can’t explain it, just a weird experience! Thanks again for the great discussion!

    I took Ayahuasca only once. In the days and weeks following, I felt the presence of an entity within me. It wasn't frightening. It felt like she was Grandmother, very loving. And from within she directed me to do what I needed to do to regain my health. Very fascinating experience. I was never able to take Ayahuasca again but without a doubt the kind entity (I called her Grandmother) guided me and healed me from within.

    Rupert has helped me so much in viewing theology through the Christian lens. I was raised catholic but drifted from the faith and spent some time looking into the eastern religions and mystic teachings, but listening to people like Rupert helps one realize that there is a faith that exists underneath all religious denominations and that it's quite acceptable to gain your understanding via the traditional Christian route (even if it's not quite on the prescribed path). I find that so refreshing in this time when Christian bashing hasn't just become acceptable but almost fashionable. Thank you Rupert

    I wonder if Graham Hancock has read Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander. The author is a neuro surgeon who got a nasty, spontaneous case of E. coli bacterial meningitis. He experienced death and describes some of what he saw. After his complete recovery, which was itself nothing short of miraculous (doctors assured his family that at best he’d be a vegetable if he even wakes up), he had the expertise to evaluate his brain scans to conclude that the parts of his brain responsible for dreams and hallucinations were completely dead. Destroyed. Inactive. Offline. While in the meantime he was having an extremely vibrant, indescribably vivid experience. “It felt too real to be real” was his description. He also scientifically rules out the DMT dump myth and concludes that the brain, rather than producing consciousness, serves as a filter for consciousness which reduces the firehose of information from reality to a trickle so we can focus on this very specific spectrum of mortal experience.
    I recommend the book. It’s fascinating.

    First off, thank you Graham for decades of life enhancing insights in my appreciation of this carnival of existence. I have far too many thoughts to address re: this discussion, but two key and dominating elements of my perspective follow. 1. We know that what we observe of the universe/existence is limited by both our perceptive organs and out cognitive abilities, so we also know that whatever we my conceive is in fact only a limited description that MUST be insufficient. 2. How can anyone who accepts the canon of modern physics that permits quantum coupling, unmediated action from a distance, and the entire idea of material expression as dependent upon observation, and the influence of that observation on abstract probability matrices so as to define the nature of phenomena, seriously doubt the possibility that there is creative and communicative outcome that exceeds an absolute materialistic reality? We need not overturn the dominance of current dogma to appreciate the totality of our experience where it exceeds the limits of that dogma. Thank you again for your gifts to humanity, and enjoy! BTW, credit where due: your criticism in the last moments was fair, and polite, but a necessary stance for the sake of integrity. You didn't have to do that, and it took courage to not to let it go in passing.

    42:50 My thought while Graham went further about brain and consciousness (And i heard this being mentioned in another spiritual talk): A human can be clinically brain dead, while the heart is still being active. Thus the heart controls the brain and not the other way around.
    Everyone can control many parts of the body, even the breathing cycle. But it's impossible to actively control feelings and heart rate. I'd say that the heart-"consiousness" takes over as soon as the brain shuts off or is lacking usefulness. E. g. You can try to suppress the feeling of love or hate, but no one can effectively deny either feeling. Maybe someone else can describe it better.
    Thus the conclusion is that the consciousness is most likely not one with the brain.
    And thanks for the talk, it's great to listen to. Loved it.

It opens up our consciousness and invites us to think outside of those dogmatic views! From everything I've read and watched about Grahams work he certainly doesn't proclaim that everything he says is absolute fact. Truly engrossing discussion! Yes Graham, we could use more of this kind of thing. My deceased father appearing to me in dreams and warning me about adverse events to come (which really did occur!) opened my eyes to the existence of realms beyond the material world...and conventional time constraints. I would also like to recommend the works of the philosopher Husserl, who taught me to look at the nature of everyday perceptions of what constitutes reality afresh...from scratch, as it were.

    Totally agree Graham with the last statement about religion if you preach about wrong doings please don't act these out, being bad is one thing, saying you are morally superior then but still doing the same is far worse an evil...,

    Excellent discussion! Can't wait to hear more like this. I had a dream once where I accidentally broke into the central point that connected the dream worlds. It was Brahma holding a golden egg, and inside the egg was this massive room, lined with hallways and doors that led to various worlds. It was even run by what I presume were angels or spirit guides. They weren't too happy that I was roaming free and they chased me, but I could tell it wasn't a malicious pursuit - they were just trying to help, I think. I slipped away into one of those doors and emerged into some unknown neighborhood and the air was thick with fog. I kind of see that as it wasn't my dream so I couldn't complete the scene from its substrate. It was so real, the dream has really stuck with me. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get back in there. Haha

    My sister and I cared for our mum before she died. On that day I had to drive a relative to the airport as she had come to say her goodbyes. I dropped her at the airport and when driving back I had a strong feeling that I needed to be with my mum immediately. I rushed back and sat beside her and held her hand while she passed away. It was the strangest strongest feeling I’ve ever experienced x it was as if she was telling me her time was coming and I needed to be with her. I’m so glad I was able to be with my mum x

      That said & true sir, I must, in good conscience, disagree with your position as stated here by you -- re heroin (& other unmentioned) highly addictive, physiologically, spiritually, cognitively --- individually & communally destructive narcotics (i.e. "cocaine & cocaine derivatives, opioids, bath salts e.g.)
      While i strongly cleave to non-criminalization & non-judgemental love & care for those whom suffer personhood-destroying chemical & non-chemical addictive experiences, I must & do question your statement on this subject that you have here made regarding such truly destructrive narcotics.

    Thank you both for the confirmation of my belief. When I died there was no tunnel or light. I was in a cave where two men wearing kippahs, long gowns and beards sat at a stone table. Etched into the table was a chessboard. There were stone figures they strategically moved. I was above them looking down. Curiously I asked, why don't they see me? As I thought what is the game they play, the man on my left stood. As he gazed looking up at me I felt every thought he'd ever thought. No words. It felt like z WI d blowing through me. One thing I heard, " this is not a simulated game of war. It is genetics, the game or meaning of life."
    Every moment moving through time i am living a new life in spirit
    because of that event. I remained in that place out of time, living and recalling his every thought.
    There was no time there, or here for me. I am compelled to fulfill all he shared. The origin of the chessboard was genetics. The 64 base combinations are encapsulated in those squares.
    All I must do is close my eyes and I can return there. There is no differentiation of the two realities. All of time and all thought is right now. We don't die!

    • @khimaros
      @khimaros 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      DNA consists of four bases, which have complementary partners, to make TWO base pairs. So I've no idea what you were looking at, but it wasn't DNA bases.

    • @shewhowatches2809
      @shewhowatches2809 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly this elucidation encapsulates all genetic information, incorporating and utilizing non-coding introns and "junk DNA".

    • @khimaros
      @khimaros 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shewhowatches2809 introns, exons, junk DNA and the rest are all coded by the two base pairs. I'm splitting hairs, because as long as it made sense to you, that's all that matters. Near Death Experiences vary wildly, and that could be because whatever realm consciousness exists in without space and time, it's more like a dream that is a reflection of the individual's beliefs in this world.

    • @shewhowatches2809
      @shewhowatches2809 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@khimaros yes I trust you are correct. I wonder why the images I saw and words I heard, or better, what they showed me is still playing out to date. For instance, six years after the NDE I inadvertently found the man in the cave living now in this life.
      I was awakened at 2a.m. and found the TV on. I sat down perplexed. A physicist was speaking about the monopole and how it should be as abundant as the gold atom. I laughed because I had just written a proposal regarding monopolarity of the atoms. Prior to my husbands death he had posited a new elucidation of the atom. So i continued with his thought.
      The next speaker was discussing the bible code. He introduced Eliyahu Rips a mathematician at the Hebrew University who'd written the ELS algorithm that isolated codes. This was the man in the cave. He'd looked at me so intensely, though never speaking, yet the face I could not deny. It was the face I recognized.
      Life is so mysterious. I am just thankful I am still here in the chaos of this dynamic Universe.! It is one soon to change.
      I wish I could share all the marvelous images I was shown in the blink of am eye. There are no words. A difficult task articulating, for what the eye fails to see lays claim does not exist. Yet isn't it the mind to see what is and is not there?

    Wonderful discussion.
    When my mother in law passed away, I awoke at the exact moment and was left with the understanding that she visited me to tell me goodbye, she loved me and please take care of her son (my husband). I'm not religious in any way, but it was very real to me and I still remember it vividly to this day and will never forget. It was over 20 yrs ago. And her son, my husband, just passed away in Feb of this year. I now feel that reincarnation is real, and I had been doing much research while he was ill (cancer), so I told him not to fear death, as I do not either and he passed peacefully at home.

While at the store baby A got a sad look on her face and told mom we have to leave the store now baby B is crying. Wife said ok let's just get these last few items. She was very adamant to please return she agreed. They drove straight home and baby B was at the door crying. Than the same thing happened to me and my mind was blown.

    Hello from the SF Bay Area a year later! I recently saw your new Netflix series and have watched it several times over, so I found you here on TH-cam and subscribed. For those of us on this journey of spiritual discovery there are so many guideposts along the way. It is fascinating how people all over the world have found similar explanations or cosmic hints. One guidepost that was very important in helping me sort out Christianity, I was a recovering preacher's daughter looking for guidance, was Paramahansa Yogananda, my first teacher. I was shown a book that became fundamental in understanding my relationship to the greater universe and God, The Urantia Book, it helped me see life as a huge kind of reincarnation, but not as we typically think of it. Really, the Universe as a "university" wherein we grow and expand and perfect over vast stretches of time and distance. For years it was my chief reference. I now have a larger frame of reference but it remains a touchstone that I return to over and over. Thanks for being a new guidepost along my journey.
