    8:49 Mold tip: use strong paper towel strips dipped in bleach water 50/50 mixture and leave in those mold areas to prevent sporilation and kill all the potential mold spores. Leave for a few hours, remove paper towels and dry completely. Paper acts as a filter to keep the spores from becoming airborne and settling elsewhere. Works great on tile too! Use gloves and facemask.

    Your floor looks great and I got some super tips from your instructions. (DUDE, why couldn't I have seen this before I pulled THOUSANDS of staples after removing my carpet!) I did have a question about underlayment. Was there a reason you didn't need it? I have heard that even with the flooring that has it built in, you should still use a thin one. Thanks and great video. I ready to remove my damaged laminate and go vinyl!

    • @Fixintobuild
      @Fixintobuild  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Appreciate your kind words! And to answer your question every manufacturer of flooring has their own guidelines about using underlayment. Every since I started installing vinyl plank (about 6 years ago) it has always been recommended to not use an underlayment, and I haven’t. All the vinyl plank floors I’ve installed are still in good shape today. However with laminate it is completely different, and you should always use an underlayment with laminate, it is a much different material and thickness. A lot of people use the terms “laminate” and “vinyl” interchangeably and it’s just plain wrong, two totally different materials. Hope this helps!

    • @Fixintobuild
      @Fixintobuild  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Vinyl plank is 100% waterproof meaning it doesn’t require a moisture barrier. Besides all the moisture in a bathroom comes from above the floor not below. However that may be code in some areas, just not my area. Good observation though

    Such a great video!! Question, if I’m not removing my baseboards do I still need to use a spacer? Thank you for such an informative video

    • @Fixintobuild
      @Fixintobuild  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! And to answer your question, it depends! If you’re baseboard is flush to the floor then yes, If there is a large enough gap to slide the flooring underneath, no but you still need a 1/4” gap from the wall itself, so I would still recommend using a spacer and using a shoe moulding or quarter round to cover the gaps all the way around!

    Here’s something you want to avoid when laying the floor. No joint lines should match up with the other no staircase effect and no H pattern. It should be completely random that way the floor will stay together and be strong.

    • @Fixintobuild
      @Fixintobuild  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any pattern is acceptable as long as the joints are at least 6” apart, you want joints staggered otherwise it could separate easier. Some people go with a “stair step” pattern, some people go “brick pattern” or even “1/3 offset” but I prefer just random lengths. To me it looks more natural and less manufactured
