- Hey! In this video I did some quick curl definition. Wanted to give an update on how I’ve been achieving my curls now that my hair has grown out at the top.

Exactly what I been looking for. Clear instructions that showed what I was doing wrong. Because I didn’t want a lot of definition, I used less product. ❤️ it!!!

Yasss! You will love tapered hair. The cut is the style. Even when it’s not perfect, it’s still beautiful.
i tried the Ecolab Gel and it works great. It doesn't flake at all. Unlike other hair gels, it defines my curls but doesn't make my hair dry, hard, or crunchy.

Your hair looks great. I have high porosity 4c hair, and wondered how you do your sides and back of head? Further, gel dries out my hair (so work mostly with custard creams), and I very much like that you don't layer so many products. Main question is what happens when all that water dries. My hair would shrink down to practically nothing, so I'm concerned about all that water. Your choice of contrasting color is great for your complexion.
Thank you love. My hair does shrink but because I have a lot of length at the top, if just sits up high! 😆
I don’t layer product for that reason. I don’t like build up. But I do have to make sure that my hair is extremely wet when doing the wash and go method because my curls are aggy sometimes. I have low porosity hair.
Maybe if you try using a sealant (light oil) before the gel due to you hair being high porosity, which could be contributing to it feeling dry.

This is really cute!! I have been trying to figure this whole natural thing out and I struggle with wanting to have defined curls. I can't finger coil to save my life!!! I thought it was just me thinking the gel was making my hair too dry but I think I'm not using enough water with it. It just looks hard when it dries when I use gel. Do you refresh it each day with a little water or just a little oil and fluff? I need all the help I can get...lol!!!
Lol! Well it’s all trial and error to determine what your hair like and what works best. Curly hair is hydrated hair, so make sure you are doing deep conditioning and using a cream based leave-in conditioner as well.
I refresh with a little water oil mixture and spritz in the A.M.

Loved the video. I know this video is older but just seeing it 2022. I have a tapper too are you planning to have your length on the sides grow out more or is this as far as you will grow it out? When you get a shape up at barber do you cut the back and sides?

It’s just a regular boars hair round brush you can purchase from most beauty supply stores. The bristles are medium textured. Not too soft or hard.

Hey! Thank you. I do have stubborn low porosity hair. I typically do steam hydration treatments to get moisture. I do the L.O. Method with just a leave-in and oil if I’m using a gel to style. And yes, to achieve this look I don’t layer styling products because I use a lot of gel.
