  • One major difference between triangle and quadrilateral Shade Sails is the increased design options you can gain by varying the heights of your posts. A triangle Shade Sail will always lie on one plane no matter the height of the posts whereas a quadrilateral shade sail can be twisted giving it the appearance of multiple shade sails. In this video, Brydon discusses the options you have with your posts and sail shapes.

    Wouldn't shade cloth work too? Like for fences and plants? Doesn't it let water and air through?

    Would you have to buy a larger sail to compensate for height variance?

    Thanks for the info. If hardwood posts are used, what would be an ideal thickness of the posts if the height [from ground up] is 2.4 metres? This is for a garden awning.

      Thanks, Charley, that's exactly what we recommend; a minimum of 6" x 6" if going with wooden posts. Our apologies for the delay in response

    What height variance would you suggest on a 4 point sail? I have a lot of water catching in the center and I'm considering the twist for the functionality and I m really enjoying that style of the twist in your video. Any information you can share would be fantastic! Thank you in advance
    Shade is 16' x 20' and tied to the large 18" Diameter utility pole which will not bend or move.

      For this size sail, we would suggest a 4-feet variance in height on the diagonals. If you need help, please call us at 1 855-899-8290 or email info@shadesailscanada.com our apologies for the delay in response

    Great video...when doing a hypar layout like this one at the end, can you do a proper hypar and have a grade in one direction? In other words, have 1 side (2 mountain points) approx 1-2ft lower than the other hi-low sides? I am planning to set 2 posts in my yard and have 2 mounting points on my house. I'd like to have a hypar but with a grade away from the house to prevent water flow towards the foundation. Thoughts?

      Same question. Must A and C be 12' with B and D 9', or Can A b 12, C be 10.5, B be 7 and D be 9?

    How do you deal with the snow load on this?

    • @ShadeSailsCanadaTV
      @ShadeSailsCanadaTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary, shade sails do not accommodate snow load, all shade sails come down in the winter in Canada. We do sell other products that can accommodate snow load such as our cyclone umbrellas, these can be found in the commercial section of the website. Please call us on 1 855-899-8290 or email info@shadesailscanada.com if you have any questions
