558 comments today so far. That's a fair bit of work there, jacking point covers in my experience will be hardest to find, at least genuine ones. In fact I struggled to get them when I did all the RS cars in the mid 90s. You've brought back so many memories as it's what I did for a few years. God I want to do it again. What a nice find and surprisingly has hardly any rust on what I can see already,also I think the reason those wheel arches r cut is probably due to rust underneath the body kit.

Definitely worth putting away for a future build I know you have a lot of other projects but if you have the storage this would be a great set of video content and I think it deserves the Chris and Rob treatment save it and give it its proper rebirth even if it's a year away or more it doesn't matter it will be a belter it's been sat since before 2005 waiting for the rescue and now it's home cheers

Looks like it’s got good bones wouldn’t take much to do a light restoration on keep it all standard and original even down to wiring up the standard stereo and the graphic equaliser just looks proper period correct .. Love the content 🤛🏻
Looks well realistic to be put back into good order whether that is by yourselves or someone else. So many of the more modern cars will never last the test of time simply due to electronic complexity that these will be the real classics of the future.

Another nice find Rob, 89 was the change over year so quite a few had the 90 spec seats but not the bumper or spoiler. I don’t remember he graphic at all I don’t think that was from the factory

These S2 Turbos really are playing with my emotions...It's the car i wanted but couldn't afford when i was 19.....Now i really wouldn't pay what they are fetching but i could now afford a project but know i will never find time to do it......

When you built it up it looked quite good ! It ke-jetronic & I’ve rear anti roll bars & the abs linkage but these filler necks are getting a bit rare. 👍

Thats not a bad shell at all and that interior looks mint for the age of the car. If my memory serves me right I'm sure the D,reg mk4's rusted out much more than the other years. I'm sure someone said back in the day the D reg shells were made with different metal but don't take that as 100% as its been years lol
I had a picture on my bedroom wall of that car as a boy, I cant tell u how jealous I am of u owing it. The only thing is that raised bonnet, it needs to go back to standard, but my god what a car. Keep up the good work lads
A mate bought a Series Two from new. He thought it rattled a bit and seemed noisy when driving it. He took it to a mates garage and they put it on a ramp. There were many screws missing from the bodykit which was loose. There were a few things that he had to put right (on a new car) and they called it a Friday afternoon car, meaning the workers couldn't be bothered as they were finishing for the weekend. The biggest surprise was written in yellow wax chalk on the sump- 'not fit for export'!
