Wow. That takes me back. I was the Manufacturing Engineer for those wheels. Made at Ford New Zealand and shipped to the UK. Good to see they’ve stood the test of time.
I’d really like to see you finish both the RS Turbo and the RS 2000 then enter them in a classic car auction. It would make interesting content and ensure you get full value for all your hard work.
Nice to see the RS again. £10k is a good price for the car and all the parts. Someone will get a really good, solid car for that price. Also, nice work on the workshop, nice and tidy. Keep up the good work Rob and Chris.
Lot of ppl saying that they would love to see you finish But I totally see your point rob If you both get a profit out of it work away It’s better than leaving it lying up 2-3 months waiting on paint Besides it’s a good project for someone to finish off 👍 👍
What a gorgeous car - 10k is very reasonable price given the work you done - More importantly you saved an icon and gave her another 20 years ! Our Ford Dealer in Letterkenny only ever sold one RS Turbo Escort in 1988 - Our father bought it around 1995 - we had it for around 6 months and sold it on - we were the second owners - It was red (pink) and once we used cutting compound and polish it absolutely gleamed - one of my biggest regrets was not buying her ! I often wonder where she ever ended up ! Seeing yours just brings me back - Well done love the channel !
Really refreshing to see your stance on being respectful to others and avoiding crude/bad language. Your integrity really stands out. A classic like this is definitely a great investment, I remember in the late 90s a mint Sierra Cosworth was about £7k, now over £30k!
Loved these videos on the RS. Took me back to when I was a teenager (long time ago). Thanks so much for this series and all the other videos Rob and Chris, have a fantastic 2022.
I remember many years ago my first ever Ebay purchase was a 1988 E plate white Rs turbo like this, I won it for £800. Was a clean car and never let me down. Looks so much better with the alloys back to OE, If you need some orange side repeaters I think I have a pair in the shed you can have guys. Just needs the orange front indicators then and will look more original.
People who say this RS should have been fully restored forget this is your living and not self indulgence just because you're fans and owned them in your youth. Nice to see the wheels repainted though. Totally agree with your family friendly policy and if people want to be abusive, let them go elsewhere. You guys are good humoured and have banter but are always respectful and your channel deserves equal respect, in my opinion. A great channel and you guys deserve all your success. Cheers.
Despite never having really been into cars (I'm 49 and they've always been an A-B thing for me, although I've had several VWs (Golfs and Polos) and really appreciate the build quality and reliability), I love this channel and the way you guys go about your business. Absolutely brilliant. A few months ago, one of the camper van videos (I'd love to have one at some point) appeared in the suggestions column, and I've been hooked ever since. I now work as a self employed guitar technician providing repairs, maintenance, mods, refurbs, buying, selling, you name it, and, as a result of seeing how professional you are, the methods you employ, the ethos etc, have improved and enhanced my own methods and approach, and have seen the benefits via increased sales etc. How many of us would love to be as skilled and accomplished as Chris is in our chosen field?! I also appreciate the amount of effort you both put into the videos, and how interesting they always are. I always look forward to 5ish pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday....... With a car like this Escort, it must be incredibly difficult determining the balance between sentimentality and sound business practice. For what it's worth, I think you've got it right. You've still got to eat, and a £2000 paint job plus waiting time at this point is unrealistic, as Rob highlighted. I think that the effort you've already put in, along with the package you're offering is a pretty good deal for someone who has the time, money and enthusiasm to put into finishing the project. Keep them coming!
You guys made the right choice. A £2k profit now is solid money - if you decided to finish it up, maybe you only make the same £2k profit in the end. Send it down the road and keep moving on other stuff. Great content as usual!
Great to see it bought to a great stage for the next owner and out the door, makes sense to keep the turnover going on cars - also agree, no need for profanity, far too much of that around already! Have a great weekend
Hello Rob and Chris. That escort will make a lovely'ready for the Spring' project.😎 I thank you for your 'family friendly' policy and all your 'behind the scene' work with the cars and with TH-cam. From a snowy Central France, Cordialement,
Lovely job on the RS boys. Definitely the right thing to do getting those wheels sorted. The RS is an investment at £10k and only going up in value. Looking forward to up and coming content this year. You should be on tv with your own show
What a beaut of a motor. Really well done on this one. As a mk4 Escort owner myself, I was personally invested in this project. 10k is a really reasonable price to put this up for. I hope you get it. Well done lads.
You are launching that one as an excellent basis for someone who really wants an Escort RS Turbo to make their own, either using the parts or selling them on to someone who lusts after them. £10,000 sounds a great price point at which to pitch it, to get it moving on, leaving you with both a profit and a space on the schedule. With the work you did, you can sell it with a clear conscience that the new owner has every chance to get it home safely, before starting to perform any modifications they want, and refresh the paintwork. That should put in some real money.
I do think you have made the right decision on this car. I know this sounds obvious but you are not primarily a classic car restoration business. I think it was good to do the wheels i know that people can get varying results when having them done at different places so that is one less job for the new owner. They might want to put the door locks in as well so you having it painted might hinder that. I would also say that is a fair price for what us now a smart motor with all the work you gave done. I am glad you mentioned the swearing, I know there is at least one minor who subscribes to this channel and there could be more (only know because they mentioned their age). Thanks Rob and Chris for another good video and we look forward to whatever comes our way this year.👍👍
This car could be brought up to concours with the right owner investing the time in it. You have done all the mechanical works, and there is a Pandora’s box full of valuable original parts to take it back to stock. An old friend of mine who is a real RS nut, has had all the RS models from new, and I still remember driving his RS Turbo back in the day 😎 this car was an amazing find, the content on its recommissioning has been awesome 👏😎
You’re doing the right thing letting it go. Sorry to see it go all the same but sometimes it’s for the best. You’re both smart guys knowing when to stick or twist.
Excellent job guys,Rob as you mentioned in this video, this car could benefit from a complete respray. The value on these vintage vehicles is on the increase.
Evening guys 🙂 Not a bad deal for an enthusiast to take on to the next level and put their own personal touches on bit Marmite on what is considered correct Purists would be exactly as left the factory especially as a Show car
Nice one Rob! Think you've done the right amount of work to get the RS back on the road and for the new owner to finish to their liking. Looking forward to the next one 👍
Love the fact you are selling it for a really fair price to give someone a chance of hanging on to it for the future. Such genuine fellas 2k pre tax everyone benefits 👍👍👍
I would be surprised if it does not sell with all that work done. An easy project to finish off and like you say rob they are going up in value all the time. You can't go wrong buying it at that price.
Right thing to do guys and will make a lovely rolling project, hopefully for a genuine enthusiast. I also think you are being wise to rationalise the vintage fleet. These kind of jobs are nice to see, but when turnover is the key, they don't usually fit the bill. Pleased to know you have put so much effort into keeping it clean, it makes so much difference to the viewing experience.
I actually think you've made the right decision you got it back up and running and it's a perfect daily as it is who wants a trailer queen she needs to be driven
Thanks for sharing the restoration of the wheels, I shared some memorabilia with Warwick Howland about manufacturing plant based in New Zealand with regard to those wheel rims ( Alloys ). Good luck with selling the car. 😁😄👍👌🙌
Great video as always. I completely understand where you are going with the Escort - makes perfect sense. People should understand you are running a business and cannot always accommodate their personal like / dislikes. Let alone keep up with the comments! I think you are doing a fantastic job!
Love these old rs turbos reminds me of my younger years wish I kept mine yous have done a good job putting another classic back on the road saved from the crusher will sell easily at that price seen worse go for more good job lads keep it up
Hi Rob and Chris, another great video, love your attention to detail on ensuring these classic Fords are put back to original, 10k is excellent value for this project, in the right hands this can be finished to a very good standard. If I had 10k + storage unit I would love to take it on, better return than any pension and with smile on your face every time you drove it. 🙏 please keep on with the old fast ford projects guys 👍
Hi Rob, can you recommend something to clean glass on a car? Mine went in a bodyshop for some repairs, the car was 6 month old & a van ran in the side, since its come back from bodyshop it has several marks on screen inside, hand marks and sticker marks, 1 mark looks like a clothes button about 4 inches in diameter, also a satnav suction cup mark. I've tried G101 and Autoglym fast glass, the screen looks clear until it mists up / fogs up, then the marks reapear. Any advice? Thank you, Neal
Had one of these when I was in my mid 20s a mint H reg full 90s spec in same white colour always regretted selling it as there making silly money nowadays for a really good example always a big fan of fast fords great content look forward to more content on the r/s turbo maybe a driving preview look forward to that 👍
Another quality turnaround, such a good variety of classic/current project’s all done to perfection, no shady work or swearing, as usual , refreshing work and so good in this day and age,🚗🚗🚗.
I’m only 9 and a girl I Love the Escort Rs turbo My dad had 1 I can remember The registration Q72 xax He restored it fully And was my favourite car we had But like he always does he sold it. I will get 1 when I’m old enough to buy a car and learn to drive it. Love watching you Chanel And how you fix the cars Can’t wait for the next video you guys do Thank you for all the videos you make And share with us. Thank you Ella
Hello Rob and Chris. Another great video and the escort looks great. Brings back a lot of memories from the 80’s. A great project for the new owner. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Great following this build…. Definitely the right decision on the wheels…. I painted out the centres on a set of Opel rostyles back in 1980 which was the thing then but not cool in the 21st century…… Keep up the good work….
Hi Rob,what a great video, this is a tidy Escort RS,the wheels do look alot better sprayed the silver colour.just washing the car has made the paint whiter.the parts with it,some are hard to find now.
Hi rob and chris congratulations on reaching 230,000 subscribers and well done for all your hard work in the last year and looking forward to seeing what you buy and what projects you get in 2022
Very good price ,worth more.Somebody will finish it off,and have a great motor.shame i have not got room for it,got 2 cars already.Good luck with the sale gents
Totally agree Rob, those wheels were doing my head in as were the bonnet vents and, even though there's a shade difference on the bonnet vents it looks so much better already. Great work guys, have a good weekend 👍🏻
Lovely car guys! I would like to ask you a question about the salvage side of things. I’m looking at a car for sale that is pretty old now (1999) but it’s a very early model of the car it is. (Rover 75) It was given a cat D in 2010 the owner knows body work as he was a body shop manager I think. He said he can tell it’s had some paint work on the drivers door. In your vast experience would the insurance companies put a D on a 10 year old car that the factory closed 5 years prior as they couldn’t get a new door? Thank you Josh.
Another lovely update video. I think your asking price for the Escort is an excellent price given all that’s included. Happy New Year, thanks for the ongoing efforts in providing quality content. Stay safe Gents, Cheers 👍🏽🙂
It’s great that you guys move things on quickly for other people if you cannot make the time to complete a project yourselves. Like someone said before, it would also be great to see how well you could do by completing one of these classics and running it through a classic auction. It’s not like you need another string to your bow. But it would certainly make for great content. And it would prove how by doing a job properly what the rewards can be. Although I don’t know if the VAT man has an interest in this kind of project!
Hello fellas.I personally like the clean cut image of your channel.I can watch your content with my child beside me without fear of anything nasty. As for the Turbo, the wheels changed the car and asking price seems good to me.Thanks for the great content 👍
My dad had an F reg RS Turbo back in the early 90s, it was a company car and really not his sort of car, especially in red, but I loved it, my popularity at school went through the roof, everyone wanted a ride in it. Few years later I had my own hot hatch, a Renault 5 GT Turbo.
Someone's going to get a very sound future classic, At first glance 10K seems low, but when you add in all the work still needed including a full respray, its a fair price,
Classic 80s escort !! Been a blast watching the videos on the escort RS turbo, but it got to be time to let it go now? Someone nay completely restore it !! Good content yet again !
Glad to see you got rid of those rs stickers from below the indicators had a feeling they were doing your head in Rob, think you're doing the right thing putting it up for sale now someone can get some work done before spring and enjoy in the summer, some people might forget your doing this as a business and need to keep the motors coming in and out so you can make money.
another nice brill video and yeah I agree about the swearing that needs to stop alot of people been telling me about it but yeah keep going guys Rob and Chris ignore the haters And block them but keep the content coming
Great channel love watching you pair and I’ll say it again what a great team you make 👍 And why would people want to swear on here ??? Just crazy ! All the best boys 👍
@@neilhopkins8673 Same, it would look so much better. The rear looks good but the front just reminds me of half arsed modified and abused examples from Southend Seafont 20 years ago. Originality is where the money is on these cars now.
Any Ford enthusiast will jump at this motor Rob especially with the loads of parts available. Can’t wait to see how long it will take before it’s gone. Thanks for the video Rob and Chris all the best Tom
The Escort is looking pretty good now and any new owner has mainly just the cosmetic work to do to finish it off and get it to a mint standard - another classic saved ! Parked between the two modern day Fiesta's it makes you realise how much cars have increased in size. Back in the 80's the Escort was classed as a medium size car but the two 21st century Fiesta's look as long and maybe a bit wider even though they are today's super mini's.
Looking at the whole styling, I think my paternal uncle owned one (red and bone-stock!) as his family hauler back in the late 90s and VERY early 2000s. And we're not even from the UK, but from Bosnia and Herzegovina (particularly Republika Srpska). Son of a gun didn't know the gem he had on his hands back then, since he's not a petrolhead/car enthusiast/automotive enthusiast at all.
Great work as usual chaps. I had to go and look at some pictures to check that the wheels aren't 'handed' per side, I only just realised that the spokes point differently on either side.
Great 👍 Video as always Rob and Chris. The Ford Escort is worth a lot of money, £10k is a good selling price. Keep up the effort and I look forward to seeing the next uploads.
Another great video guys. This car is a dream semi project for someone who will get huge pleasure from doing it and have a solid investment....but also enjoy using it and showing it off. Its not all about the money I have a classic that has gone up a little bit but the pleasure it gives me and the missus you could not put a value on.
I have read alot the comments and like the idea of putting (the right car) through a Classic Car action, it would be really great content. Keep up the great work and happy New Year from Thailand.
Just love what you have done to the RS and doing the wheels as you said just makes the car. I would add the orange indicators and spot lights and yes they are rare those Carrello branded units, I threw a set of those out years ago when I removed them of my car. Good luck with the sale and worth every penny of what you want for it👍
Welcome back guys. Surprising how much difference a decent set of wheels make, they really set it off. Maybe you should try putting it through the next classic car auction at Ashford?
Another good one, it struck me on the side view how big the windows are compared to the modern cars with the high shoulder line. I remember them back in the day and a great finishing project for someone and investment!
Definitely looked better with the wheels refurbished & it looks ready to go Definitely worth the money you are asking for it here's looking forward to the next video 👍
I’m sure someone will buy it it’s a lovely car takes me right back you did a great job getting it road worthy and stripping it back to original but your right there has to be a stop point time for someone else to put there stamp on it x
Nice one guys, good to get the Escort back to ‘roadworthy’. Will make a solid project for someone. Looking forward to progress on the later RS2000. Good content as always.
I think the way you have both built up your channel and your stance on swearing and abuse is spot on, respect to you both
Totally Agree Richard
I really like the idea of that!it would Be very interesting indeed
That would be awesome
Shame they didn't Finnish the cosworth that was an awesome car I was well into.
Awesome idea 💡 👏

Nice to see the RS again. £10k is a good price for the car and all the parts. Someone will get a really good, solid car for that price. Also, nice work on the workshop, nice and tidy. Keep up the good work Rob and Chris.
I would have like to see them take it to a Classic car display and they would have obtained a serious buyer.
Excellent Rob and Chris, she's looking lovely. Also I can't believe how much bigger the red Fiesta looks parked next to it, how times have changed.
We said the same lol 👍
That fiesta looks well
Love your acting in the sopranos paulie your a real G!
@@MrThegenral1 Historically speaking, he was never a ‘G’ , just a glorified ‘U’.
Lot of ppl saying that they would love to see you finish
But I totally see your point rob

Totally agree Rob, those wheels were doing my head in as were the bonnet vents and, even though there's a shade difference on the bonnet vents it looks so much better already. Great work guys, have a good weekend 👍🏻
Great content guys and that's a great car for £10k. You'll have no trouble selling that. Good luck with it.
Thank you
Josh.
Another lovely update video. I think your asking price for the Escort is an excellent price given all that’s included. Happy New Year, thanks for the ongoing efforts in providing quality content. Stay safe Gents, Cheers 👍🏽🙂
Looks fantastic. So jealous as anyone that grew up in 90s wanted one of them!
Good video Rob, the series 2 will get you good money. The battery cover is a must on these cars.
We pay all our taxes so no bother
Hello fellas.I personally like the clean cut image of your channel.I can watch your content with my child beside me without fear of anything nasty. As for the Turbo, the wheels changed the car and asking price seems good to me.Thanks for the great content 👍
I applaud your stance on swear words, unlike some mobile mechanic who can not put four words together without a swear word, well done to both of you.
😂😂😂I know who you mean. The one dripping in oil?
You're soft lol. I do not swear, but if other people do, what's the problem? Grow up, stop being a child.
I think I actually love you guys a little bit! Charing bmw spares are awesome! Two tidy black leather seats for an e46 for less than £150 inc vat
Car looks spot on, great work to get it back on the road. Will make a perfect little project for someone & good to see it back on the road
Nice little Friday video on a classic from my youth. Have a great weekend guys.
Those wheels make it look a lot better now. Great content as usual Rob and Chris - Ignore the haters.
I'd love to have seen you take this back to standard but understand why you're moving it on. Amazing work as always.
another nice brill video and yeah I agree about the swearing that needs to stop alot of people been telling me about it but yeah keep going guys Rob and Chris ignore the haters And block them but keep the content coming
Those wheels completely transform it. Right decision. Looks superb.👍
Great channel love watching you pair and I’ll say it again what a great team you make 👍
And why would people want to swear on here ??? Just crazy !
All the best boys 👍
Best Channel on the Tube.
Totally agree no need for bad language or nastiness.
Brilliant video 👍
Brilliant car Rob and right decision. I cant be the only person who wants to see the car put through its paces at this stage and see you smile 😁
Amber indicators and the spot lights would finish that off nicely.
I wanted to see it with the spot lights & original indicators on it.
@@neilhopkins8673 Same, it would look so much better. The rear looks good but the front just reminds me of half arsed modified and abused examples from Southend Seafont 20 years ago. Originality is where the money is on these cars now.
Hi Rob/Chris love the work you do on the channel with cars happy new year to both off you and hope 2022 is a good year for your business and stay safe
Another great video thanks Rob and Chris. Always look forward to Friday evening. Even better now I’m having to isolate this week!
Looks great guys, much better with all the aftermarket stuff removed 👍
Great 👍 Video as always Rob and Chris. The Ford Escort is worth a lot of money, £10k is a good selling price. Keep up the effort and I look forward to seeing the next uploads.
Another great video guys. This car is a dream semi project for someone who will get huge pleasure from doing it and have a solid investment....but also enjoy using it and showing it off. Its not all about the money I have a classic that has gone up a little bit but the pleasure it gives me and the missus you could not put a value on.
proper video as ever! thanks again Rob and Chris!
Good luck with the sale and worth every penny of what you want for it👍
Could the Escort have a backup battery for the alarm that could be flat and running engine adds some voltage back into the battery?
All sorted 👍
this year is going to be good for you and chris some good builds will look forward to them all
All a big thumbs up from me 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 the RS is a credit to you chaps, what a motor! Bargain.
Welcome back guys. Surprising how much difference a decent set of wheels make, they really set it off. Maybe you should try putting it through the next classic car auction at Ashford?
It’s sold
You guys do some great stuff and people that put rubbish on there comments should be banned from the comments keep up the great work guys
I’m sure someone will buy it it’s a lovely car takes me right back you did a great job getting it road worthy and stripping it back to original but your right there has to be a stop point time for someone else to put there stamp on it x
keep as is guys you do a great job interacting with us all, some other channels could learn a lot for the pair of you, quality content as per normal
Nice to hear you are not going down the bag language route, make a great change in this day and age
Nice one guys, good to get the Escort back to ‘roadworthy’. Will make a solid project for someone. Looking forward to progress on the later RS2000. Good content as always.
Have the alloys been put on correctly?
As the passenger side is rotating different from the drivers side?
OCD
That’s how they are 👍
