This was the most amazing version of this dance that I've ever seen!!!!
I never really watched the ballet, but 've been in the orchestra for over a decade and have played parts of Swan Lake (looooove Tchaikovsky) including this iconic part of course, and I can very confidently say, coming from having played this more than once before, that this is definitely the right tempo.

I absolutlely adore this play! And this part is my favorite one, I admire how the dancers can keep up with the tempo, way better than Bolshoi, more in tune with the music, and although i'm not lighting expert, I like the way it looks because you can clearly see their movements....beautiful dancers, so talented, I will forever be amazed at their grace and poise.
My hat's off to those girls for being able to keep up with that insane tempo.

@nsivkovic This is sped up quite a lot and it's already a barely manageable choreography. But I seriosly agree, they are amazing.

Why is it fast?
Well as you can hear, the music is going a bit fast and maybe the choreographer (or teacher) wanted this one coz maybe he/she couldn't find another version. So, they're going fast coz the music is going like that.

Thank you so very much for you beautiful response. I know that it can be difficult to be heard when you are young especially when you are passionate about something you believe. And yes I will agree with you that the tempo of the music is a bit faster when you listen to the recording on iTunes or music stores, but when you are actually dancing this masterpiece, your technique has to be precise along with the artistry that Marius Petipa originally choreographed.

Yeah it's fast. But you can do that when you kick ass.
My theory is the conductor catches the speed from the rythm of the walks coming in for the dance. So if the dancers were walking in at a nervous tempo then this is what they got! But in general, at the Hungarian National Ballet they do this dance way TOO FAST!

Nem hagyott nyugodni a dolog, hogy a Kirovék ugyanezt valahogy "lágyabban" adták elő. Aztán megmértem az időt. Ugyanerre a részre a Kirovéknak 10mp-el több idejük volt. Hogy lehet ez? Gondolom a feltöltésnél lett egy kis bibi.
egyszerűen csak túl gyorsan megy a zenekar :) nem a videó van felgyorsítva, látszik rajtuk, hogy nem fér bele pár dolog, annyira gyors...
Kirovék már nem Kirovék. Mariinszkijék. És mindenben sokkal lágyabbak, ez a védjegyük.

Yikes!! It's so fast! They can't even point their feet completely in some of the movement because it's so fast. Even with the fast tempo they did a great job, though.

What is the music?
Obviously they are not as good as the Bolshoi ballet and the kirov but they are pretty good. I'd like to see any amature school dance it like this! People have to lighten up!

I didn't lose anything, all I did was engage in a conversation, neither did you. Think straight for a minute... act your age.
It looked as if they were trying to get it over as quickly as possible. The ABT's version is much better. It takes more skill to perform this dance slower because speed can cover up mistakes.

It looks as if they are on the run...! The music is to fast, therefore the dancers have no other choise keping up to it.

Maybe the adults you know, but intelligent, reasonable adults will pay more attention to intelligent, reasonable, and civilized conversation. Think about who you are trying to impress and if it is really worth losing your own class to do so. You're correct about the music and the original tempo; however it looks like the dancers are struggling to keep up at this pace. Congrats on knowing something most teens don't; just know you sound much smarter in your response to Erszi36. :)
the main problem is that it's WAYYYY too fast for them! otherwise, they would have been perfect.
It's a pity that the second girl is not as tall as the other ones...
