there's just something about Natalia Osipova when she dances...beyond the technique, there is the soul. It is quite sad how ballet nowadays tends to focus on technique. :| the essence, which is dance, is slowly fading away :(

I watched the live broadcasting of Don Quixote at cinema on Sunday! It was absolutely magnificent and fantastic. Natalia is such a talent. And her partner Ivan does some "pas" that no other dancer can do as well! Viva Russian Ballet!!!
I love seeing her when she was seventeen. Dancing with such true spirit and abandon. Such technical freedom, which is so over-glossed today. Wondrous Natalia at 17.
I'm neither a dancer, nor I know anything about ballet techniques. However, I am classical singer -therefore, a performer. I've improved my stage presence by watching ballet videos. Also, after seeing hundreds of dancers on here, I've become more aware of the musical phrasing. I don't know if Natalia has beautiful feet, or if her arabesques have to improve. I don't care if she doesn't beat the tambourin extending her legs to her head, or if her arms are not "good enough" for Swan Lake. This is what I see: a beautiful girl feeling the music. Her movements are evenflowing; her whole body is constantly phrasing - I asume that's why she doesn't look robotic in this variation; - and she is so graceful that it's imposible to not love her. Also, she's a damn good actress. Natalia: I wished more opera singers could watch your videos, so they would understand that music and body are one.
What makes her not so good for swan lake is that she is just explosive and powerful! While the character of Swan lake is grace so she doesn't fit the part, while is Esmerelda and Don Quixote is explosive and powerful.
Tony Bittar Sayegh Natalia Osipova is the most incredible and the unreachable Esmeralda. If i would be her, i would have never accepted Odette/Odile in Swanlake.
You may be right! - however... I've seen much worse Swans than hers! Thanks for your comment :-) PS: I so would like to see her dancing this variation now that she's a mature performer, although I think this Esmeralda is already unbeatable.
This was a long time ago but I'm watching it again swan lake seem to be like done with this grace more than anything but she does it differently like wi h a striving to escape the life as a swan which can turn some people off because it's different but I like it but her jumps are super amazing
Natalia's internal power and athletic skills is what I like most about her. She is personification of joy and energy on stage. Simply one of the best bravura dancers ever!! In case you prefer romantic style, watch Natalia in La Sylphide. She is so light and elegant - a real spirit! As for Natalia's acting, try to have a look at her in Coppelia. You may be amazed. ;)
i watched all other videos suggested in the right frame to compair Natalia Osipova's variation is outstanding. Explosive, powerful, acrobatic and seductive - one of the best performances i have ever seen!

I can't even begin to tell you how many Esmeralda variations I've seen.... this one brings goosebumps...absolutely fabulous! And the costume was so different and so refreshing to see!
