She is such a graceful and elegant dancer. However I feel Cesar Corrales will never fully fit a strong romantic lead role. He is a dynamic dancer; far better as a soloist, the more characterful and energetic the part, the better. I found it impossible to be absorbed in this interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, which is my favourite ballet.
I am happy for the happy couple. I just wish he didn’t drop his jaw and have his mouth open all of the time. He emits warmth however. He is missing something of the inner spirit, his gutless, and doesn’t entirely own his moves, he isn’t centred. Hard to describe.
My favorite ballet ever! My son said “I could do what he’s doing.” What Cesar does is so much harder than it looks. Francesca is nothing but grace and elegance. I could watch this 1,000 and never get tired of it
With limited opportunities to perform before a live audience this year, this is a beautiful and most welcome display. Lovely, and well done Royal Ballet, indeed the show must go on.
May be it's not "perfect" as some people has written (for me it is) but it's far from robotic. The best thing of their excellent performance is that it is easy to understand what they are saying to each other and what are their feelings. Their expressions are wonderful. It is like reading a book and imagine the delicate movements of the loving couple. It's a dream.
I totally get it. I mean, I can see some spots where it looks a bit off or wobbly or not as effortless as one might expect.... but how am I gonna sit here and criticize it when I've never taken a single dance lesson (unless you count a square dance I went to once). I'm in no position to do anything but admire.
These two manage to connvey so much emotion with their mesmerizing performance. Simply breathtaking! So happy this was put online for all to see and treasure.
@Weird Content Guaranteed and even if they don't, they are still entitled to their opinion. Thinking that only experts are allowed to have an opinion makes little sense since their are hundreds and even thousands (depending on the theatre) of people pay to witness this artform. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, wheter that beholder is an "expert" or not.
A beautiful pairing. So in tune together. Lovely interpretation of Odette-soft, gentle, but not soppy, and no over-emoting which can be grotesque. Hope this will continue to be fine-tuned by both.
Wow... That was simply amazing. I loved how they made the stage look so small. Also... Being alone on it, it pulls you into their world, like they see it. In that moment nothing else exists but them. Applause for Francesca and Cesar and also the violinist. Bravo
A beautiful partnership, they draw you in into their emotional performance , they are very connected. I was lucky enough to see them perform in Romeo and Juliet ,the audience was very moved. I had tickets to see them in Swan Lake so I am very grateful to see this performance online, I hope to see them perform live in Swan Lake. Both are beautiful dancers, watch Caesars performance as Ali in Le Corsair when with ENB, superb. A perfect partnership.
A performance of phenomenal beauty. I have never heard such an amazing interpretation of this great music. Not fussy. Majestically. Tchaikovsky would be pleased.
I can't wait to see Frankie dance the full-length performance. Her sense of character is wonderful. I love how you can feel Odette's 'angst' about the risk of trusting the prince in Hayward's interpretation of the PDD. I think other dancers often portray Odette as a little too soft/tranquil for someone who has so much at stake. I'm excited to see both dancers gain more confidence and fine tune their performance, but this is a great start for first-time Swan Lake leads.
That was exquisite, thank you! I don't think I've ever seen a ballerina look so weightless in lifts - the little delay in her arms as she landed - so beautiful 💕💕
Her phrasing and her attack are reminiscent of Fonteyn (very British), but the shapes she creates, the lines she forms, the choreographic choices she makes, and that singing, perpetually moving quality of her movement are reminiscent of Makarova. Best of all, no ear high, head whacking extensions. Just simple, unaffected artistry, and a spark of theatrical genius that will only burn brighter as Hayward matures.
I’ve seen Swan lake so many times and possibly got a bit bored of it, but this pairing brought completely new life to it for me. I feel like I’m watching too young people, stuck in sad circumstances, genuinely getting to know each other and fall in love. The technique is exceptional, but getting the feeling across is a true talent ❤️
One of the best performances I have ever watched!! And I think that I see Swan Lake every year several times. Great performance, the music, Francesca and Cesar, absolutely in heaven
I love Francesca and I like seeing new dancers such as Cesar here. It was beautiful but I think they’re both still growing in their partnership. I don’t need the high extensions and the artistry is certainly there - just needs more time and maybe trust from both. The RB has set the bar so high with their principals. Excited to see this pair in future performances. 😊🩰
There’s something so otherworldly and divine about the ballet❤❤ it’s like the gods themselves spoke through composers at one point and these very talented people r there to make the music dance❤❤
This is a rather slow but very expressive interpretation. In particular the last section where the swan and the prince so beautifully interpret the violin and cello intertwining and singing together. Ahhhh
Extraordinary grace and emotive. Never since Margot have I seen such tender expression between the dancers; no over extensions, truly gentle with awesome interpretation and magical skill. What perfection!! What joy these young dancers have. Truly, perfect
I really wish I had chosen dance over gymnastics. I am too short and not flexible to do it now but I have always respected ballet. Wow. She is a beautiful angel.
Absolutely lovely! Artistry and acting given as much prominence as technique and producing the effect that should be produced, i.e. touching the emotions of the viewer. So wonderfully assisted by the marvellous violinist as well! Thank you.
So much control, balance, and clear articulation while appearing effortless. As fluid as her movements are she has an equally breathtaking capacity for graceful intentional stillness and it perfectly complements and draws focus to her physical choices, especially the smaller details. Her precision and technique allow the space for her to be deliberate with how she expresses each moment for the character. It’s a balance that’s beautiful to see.
Thank you 🙏 for an intimate and delicate portrayal of the most beautiful of all pas de deux by this young, fresh and gorgeous couple. Completely entranced. Just stunning. Francesca and Cesar forever!
The TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE......FRANCESCA IS SO GORGEOUS.SO LOVELY SEEING A LADY OF COLOUR GIVEN A CHANCE.....CONGRATULATIONS ROYAL BALLET....TO STUNNING 😍😍🤩🤩🤩

Just saw Swan Lake at the Thrasher Horne in Orange Park. If you can do parts like these, you're in ballet immortality. Best ballet show I have been to.
This is a VERY slow tempo rhythm that NATALIA MAKAROVA filled with emotion and magic. Natasha would have been the perfect choice to coach this young girl in this dress rehearsal. Her lines are beautiful. Corrales's partnering world-class.
I am watching this amazing performance over and over. More videos with Francesca please. I' ve seen her in Sleeping Beauty last week. She is fantastic.

Shoutout to that amazing violinist who did the scale runs from the bottom octave- this is a really tricky solo!!

shoutout to the casts and the whole orchestra for doing a great job.

😂👏🏻👏🏻Soooo true what you say!
I've been in the business for 40 years. I know.
After watching hundreds of Swan Lakes over decades I found this interpretation so fresh and incredibly moving. Bravo to these young dancers.

This is a wonderful beautiful performance of this piece of Swan Lake. It is so pure, so lovely done and very touching.
This year wasn't easy for the dancers!! (COVID 19)They worked so hard for this, and they performed it beautifully! Good job Royal Ballet!
