I forgot to mention in the video that MSI has already announced the MSI Claw 2, and it's set to release in Q4 of 2024 with all-new AI chips from Intel. However, I anticipate that these new chips will be just as bad as the current ones, so don't get your hopes up.
I think the next one will be good because 1. New node at tsmc so more perf from just that, 2. Less cpu cores 4p+4e so hopefully it won't suck all the power from the i gpu.
Out of the box the claw is bad, very bad. Limit cpu boost to ~2ghz and it just about matches ally x because it frees up power for the igpu. MSI should have done this by default. 20% or larger igpu performance boost, better battery life, AND nearly eliminates stutter because clocks aren't jumping around wildly. Standard USB4 for egpu makes claw far better than og ally if you plan on docking it. Wattage on claw is not equal to wattage on the ally, you have to take measurements from the battery management soc. Hwinfo64 can show this on both devices. 20w setting on the claw gives similar total power to 15w on ally.
for now, the data showed in the presentation comparing new AMD gen and new Snapdragon, looks like this round finally Intel win, and its a good thing. Lets see the reviews with more than the 3 games showed, because surely they picked the best performance vs AMD but looks like its more efficient and at least in that games lot better. Dont be negative
I just bought and it has only been a couple of days playing on it and im been happy with it, Ive only played gears 5 and far cry 6, i downloaded a couple more games, but just haven't played them yet. I don't know what all the complaints are about, I might see a frame rate drop here and there every once in a while, but nothing to make me regret buying it. I like it, maybe the others handhelds are that much better or people are nitpicking and just hating, i probably would never know because im enjoying the claw, i chose the claw because i like to be different and ive so far only downloaded xbox games btw, i will download some steam games next. Thats my two cents.
Complaints are mostly about the Intel drivers. Also the performance isn't great compared to the competition. Competition gets similar or better performance at lower watts.
Yeah it's reallt bad compared to its competition. Tons of youtube videos to show proof, example the msi claw 700 to 800$ device is as good as the ally z1 none extreme in game performance 400$. Msi claw is also more expensive then its competitors at time of release and srill is and u get far less. Also high tdp profiles kill it fast with lower performance then its competitor at lower tdp. Updates are none existent, bios, drivers software updates all far and in between. They already kinda gave up on it and announcing a msi claw 2 when the device wasn't even out for 6 months. Hardware isn't as good upgradability is pretty difficult. No 3rd party support for parts customizability ext. The list goes on. If ur enjoying more power to u. But yes there is a ginormous difference and a very real fact as to why it has so much hate
There is no way this device is going to fail to performance if you run lossless scaling. It’s gonna start beasting. It’ll exceed 100 fps on AAA games. New ones. Ones released last week. I have no doubts. You’ll be downloading frames til they are coming out of your ears & the detractors ain’t gonna have nothing left to say.
@@IcedCoffeeCrazy that.choice is too easy ally x has a vrr capable screen which greatly reduces perceived framedrops. only reason i consider claw 8 ai is bigger screen.+ bigger performance. by october/november ally x.could.possibly be considered old.gen. if.you.pay top dollar you might want.top.performance

nope battlemage will smoke the subpar RDNA 3.5 in the new AMD APUs
atleast would deliver more then 8-10fps improvement that 890M gives
Lets see, dont be so negative, Im realistic and I dont think it will improve more than 20% but if yes?

Lesson learned.
Wait for plenty of reviews and real world gaming benchmarks first, particularly with Intel.
20w minimum tdp is insane.
Based on reviews from other YTbers 20w of the Claw is more like 15w of the Ally in terms of actual power consumption

It’s still garbage…
So Amd fanboys still hating ,lol ,what a joke .!!
They really could have done a refresh and changed to Ryzen and increased the screen size some and it would have been awesome.
