Dal Makhani is my all time favourite comfort food! I usually cook a huge pot and portion it in preserving jars, keeping them in the fridge to have my Dal ready when coming home late from work. Also, my friends like to be gifted a couple of jars every now and then I make a fresh batch. Also, I love spicy Indian dishes - despite being a very potato-y German potato. I had my best Dal Makhani at the Denissons hotel in Hubli by the way. Thanks for bringing this beautiful dish into everyone else’s view. Lots of love from Germany. :)

He once visited a Mexican restaurant that serves food on a spicy scale of 1-10, and for customers who order a 10 and finish their meal, they get their photo on the “wall of flame.” He and his sister who was visiting from India both ordered a 10. She couldn’t finish hers because it was too spicy so he ate his meal AND her meal and asked if he could have two photos of himself up on the wall 😂

I love Indian food, and I have been practicing cooking it for some time. There are multiple Indian markets near my house and I go through very similar cooking steps as you do but still trying to perfect the taste. It's so hard for me to get that restaurant taste that I'm going for
don't go for restaurant taste, homemade Indian food is very moderate on spices and oils, it should make you feel homely and give comfort, restaurents use very intense level of spices and ghee to drive flavour, it's fine to indulge in it once in a blue moon but homemade slightly mild and fresh food is 🤤

The fact that you pleased asian parents makes this a dish worth trying
I finally made this and can confirm this recipe is amazing. It wasn't as time consuming as I'd imagined and tastes identical (or better) to any dal I've had in a restaurant. So glad I took the time AND thought ahead to make a double batch!
That looks SO delicious! I am excited to try out the charcoal smoking method--haven't heard of that before!
Remembering my own Indian parents, I was genuinely nervous about your parents tasting your recipe. I'm so glad they liked it! What a high compliment from your dad by continuing to eat! The best way for an uncle to say "This is delicious" 👏
Your parents are very cute! By the way, all your recipes are awesome! 🌞🍓🍒🍲🥗
I think so too 😉 so nice to hear you’re enjoying my recipes.
Been waiting for a vegan food TH-cam channel with authentic Indian food
Was thinking of making dal makhani tomorrow! Thanks for the cream alternative- after I turned vegan, I skipped adding that part- and always felt like something was missing. Thanks a lot!! ❤️
Ooh great timing! They both are good options but the cashew cream makes it 🔥
@@RainbowPlantLife great! Because I don't have coconut milk on me right now. Thanks 😊
So I followed this recipe and it blew my socks off. The flavors are out of this world!!! Thank you for making this!!!
Glad you loved it! That's how I feel about the flavors in this dish too 😋
Every video with your parents is great! They are hilarious, I love them
Haha thank you!
What an incredible production. Adding the parents at the end was lovely and so relatable.
Hope you recreate this with an instapot
I have all that I need. I'm gonna make this for lunch tomorrow with some jeera rice!
This looks divine! There are so many techniques shown in this video that are going to upgrade my cooking. You have no idea how inspirational this was for me! Thank you :)
I love Indian food, and I have been practicing cooking it for some time. There are multiple Indian markets near my house and I go through very similar cooking steps as you do but still trying to perfect the taste. It's so hard for me to get that restaurant taste that I'm going for
don't go for restaurant taste, homemade Indian food is very moderate on spices and oils, it should make you feel homely and give comfort, restaurents use very intense level of spices and ghee to drive flavour, it's fine to indulge in it once in a blue moon but homemade slightly mild and fresh food is 🤤
I am SO pleased for you that your parents complimented you on your cooking ... ☺️🎉
I was also nervous cooking for them in my time (I am old now and they passed).
Congratulations on your lovely parents !🌹
8:28!! I love your expression!!! Success!!! I have made Dahl MaKHani soooo many times and although it has always been good, I just haven'*t been able to recreate the taste of my fav Indian restaurant....I have been missing the Tadka at the end!!!! OMG cant wait to try this tonight!!! Thank you!!!!!
I just love how much history and information you pack into your cooking shows! I love your parents. They need to be on all your shows to add that perfect family flavor. Max too please! They are so honest and fun! Will subscribe! 😊
Indian parents eating their daughter's indian VEGAN food and telling THEY LIKE IT? WHAT'S GOING ON HERE FOLKS, WHY ISN'T SHE CRYING
Love your parents and I know it means a lot when they like your dishes!
I loved this video! Your parents are great!

OMG you finally did my favorite dish from India! I’m like your Dad…can’t get enough of this dish. I will definitely give it a shot ❤️❤️
9:00 That stare from the mom: "Better not say that is better than mine"
You seem like such a nice person. I don't even feel like cooking, I just enjoy listening to your calm voice
It looks like you’ve mastered the Indian head shake as well.
This is one of the best videos on youtube, so freakin wholesome and such a great recipe
