Such a rubbish interview, the entire objective by the interviewer was not to extract the purpose of policies, but rather smear the person being interviewed

Are you hard of hearing.
I like winnie but I tend to agree
Exactly, it doesn’t hurt to admit that you don’t know something, voters don’t expect that you know everything as a minister, nobody does.
This interview was so rude , always cutting him off, and only asking something with the intention of trying to make him seem stupid … NZ media is so corrupt Winnie has that right , saw that during covid
Agree, The interviewer should learn some basics of respect
This was a hit job by TVNZ to prevent WP from talking about the policies that are starting to energise the public into voting NZF. We see you Tame and TVNZ.!
100% Hit jobs so far Luxon Seymour and Winnie ... Nothing on Labour or greens and certainly NOT the Maori Party
Is an abhorrent way to talk to anybody!!
Right! We need our media to simply accept face-value answers from politicians and not make any effort to make them answer questions! It's like Jack had no concern about the comfort of Peters in this interview! He should be boiling him a nice hot tea, massaging his shoulders, and asking him the questions that matter like "Why are you so cool?" and "Is your policy as awesome as everyone thinks it is?"
Agree, Winston Peters has the working-class New Zealander at heart... unlike Labour, and Greens who have reversed the economy, and negatively affected the environment around us.
Jack Tame is an interrogator now??
Or a bully.

He wouldn't dare try and do this towards a Māori party leader😂😂
I think it is to be honest, the problem was winston keeps not answering the questions, and escalating things
No its jack trying to outsmart winston, who has been in politics way before jack was even born.

@@waynepike4337 it’s not about outsmarting people, it’s about holding to account. You cannot have policies have zero detail behind them. Winston thinks he can because he knows people that vote for him don’t care about it
Just as bad was the first leader's debate (I didn't watch the others after) where Jessica honestly cut both Chris' off halfway through first sentence EVERY TIME. These interviewers don't understand that I'm not listening to hear their questions... they are getting paid to interviewe for me to hear the given ANSWERS.
He didn't answer a single question!
@UlfilasNZ True, I'd think he'd be prepared on the numbers related to policy, but how do you answer a question like "How many people will receive care?" The numbers from today to tomorrow will differ, but yes, he should at least have had some vague numbers. Instead he refused to use vague numbers like with the "How many gang members in prison?" He explained that corrections couldn't give a definitive number. We've heard the palava about his member using the "you" phrase and he's explained it many times. We've all heard about He Poa Poa and he's explained about Jackson many times. I didn't know about the "vaccine post" but it seems he's explained it and corrected many times. Jack's interview, to me, was a nothing new burger delivered in a way that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
@@UlfilasNZ YEAH - IF THE INTERVIEWER WOULD LET HIM ANSWER .. !!

This was tough to watch. On one hand jack was asking direct questions that werent being answered. Clearly winston didnt have the answers on costs and details which was disappointing. On the other I wish he let him speak more and moved on sooner. Minor parties dont get enough air time and we heard very little of any substance in the end. Winston does have a lot of good points about the direction of this country and how to address but we heard none of it due to the constant interrupting and needling.
Rhetoric is all well and good but if you don’t actually have plans and costings to put your rhetoric into action it’s all just bluster.

Lest we forget. Jack Tane wouldn’t be able to speak freely about any topic. Let a lone rubbish he is worried about. When there are much more pressing problems to solve. The price of petrol, food etc
We have to be able to LIVE before worrying about the cost of keeping a prisoner. Maybe look at a cheaper alternative. Rather than focusing on the costing. Grow up Jack Tane and maybe next 3 year’s campaign you will have the chance to redeem this terrible interview Good luck with that

I've usually been a fan of Jack Tame, but this was a terrible interview. It was clear that he came prepared to specifically throw shade on Winston. Half of his questions weren't about policy but about past incidents. Even the policy questions were poorly constructed.
- Nobody knows how many inmates are involved in gangs. That number would be constantly changing. He could have asked for a ballpark answer, but his exact number would be terribly inaccurate. Plus there are lots of levels. Are you heavily involved, not so much, just in it to survive? It's a terrible question. To estimate the costs would also be tough, because things are constantly changing. How many government projects do we have that say a budget of 10m then it blows out to 40million.
- Aged care question was also silly. As Winston said, the number of people who can enter aged care relies heavily on the amount of workers available. His goal is to help get more workers which will then open up spots for people to get care.
- His point about the co-governance quote using the word 'you', umm can someone tell Jack Tame what personification is...SMH
NZF is hoping to be a coalition partner. They don't get to decide the exact levels of what they want to spend tax money on, but what they can do is say these are our policies and we will negotiate on how much money we need to help these policies. Jack was super aggressive and it was unnecessary. I'm surprised Winston didn't walk out.
Winston seemed ill prepared. Jacks done this to all the leaders of all parties (major and minor) so his style shouldn’t had caught someone as experienced as Winston so badly off as it did .. I think it’s fair that minor parties shouldn’t be put under the same level of scrutiny as the two major ones but Winston barely managed to pivot to talking points and couldn’t spit out a statistic to save his life..
Knowing Jack I think he would've been far more prepared than came across, but would've had to really cut down on how much depth he went in to when he realised how little Winston Peters was able to discuss his own policies
lol what were you watching? Winston continuously was offensive. Jack Tame was asking straight questions. Jake asks hard questions for all Parties.
- if you dont know how many people in prison are in gangs, how do you know how big the prison should be?
- asking about the amount is actually pretty reasonable given the unclosed financial hole in national's (peters' likely coalition parter) tax plan to ensure that the costing has been accounted for
- winston has been changing his story on this quote since the leader's debate; originally, it was talking about "māori elite", but now he's rescinded that and said that his member was talking about "co-governance". you have to agree, it makes a lot more sense to use the word "you" if you're talking about people, not an abstract concept like co-governance
@xanderpritchard8099 Bullshit all Woke assed Tame did was copy tv3s interview last night. Go have a watch of the interview Hadid with Shaw after this one, Oh it didn't matter that shaw couldn't give figures Tame was busy kissing his Woke ass while reaching round giving him a hand job.

absolutely agree with you, he was on the attack from day one, Jack Tame is too stressful to listen to.
the issue here is that if you don't press winston, he doesn't answer the question - he just moves the question until he can use to it deliver a party line. he's someone who doesn't like his authority being challenged, and while it's stressful to watch most of the blame for that resides on him.

Prisons are an industry. The prison industry has been privatized. Privatizing the prison industry means investors and corporations are involved, which means they can buy land and build Jails. This means every prisoner here in NZ is stock on the shelf. These investors don't want the stock to leave the shelf but want it to be replenished daily. They don't want crime to decrease but build their hopes on crime-centred communities. They only care about their profit. They are a cooperation based on profit. Their goal is to profit from crime. The prisoner is the tenant, and the Govt pays their rent. They don't want to decrease crime, increase family values, or strengthen the family with stable two-parent homes. This idea, this ancient value based on sound principles of healthy whanau, is the greatest threat to crime and prison growth. These corporations want our fathers, mothers, children, and grandchildren to feed their needs for long-term profit. Every Govt has a way to deal with crime: That is to feed our children into the cells of cooperative depravity. No one is talking about saving the whanau. Instead, the Govt wants to kill our babies through passing laws to kill them in the womb. The whanu is being destroyed by legislation, and as long as the government keeps it there, crime will always be big business. Revering this is easy, but wanting to do it is impossible.

We know who they are, but I agree it was great Winston pointed that out. Did you notice too, that Jack changed the subject very quickly when Winston asked him about that?
jack, your asking question that have open ended answers, prison depends on the amount who get prison sentences, aged health care has levels from a weekly heath visits, to at home end of life care which is 24/7 care, at the moment im full time caring for a relative and they have, a cleaning service, a hospice nurse visit 3x a week, a health care visit once a day for washes etc, i can say first handed their staffing issues are very sad at least 3x a week the carers aren't here because of staffing issues, ,the cleaning service about once a month skip for the same reason, things need changing. with this interview you style shows your dislike to NZ1st, you are suppose to be impartial.
"How many gang members are there in prison" isn't an open ended question when Peters said he'll build a prison for all the gang members in prison. If he can't answer the first part of the question, he can't answer any followups, and it makes it a stupid fucking policy.

what will they do with all the empty prisons if they move the gang members out?? - maybe gang members could be housed on an island prison - Mana would be perfect...
I personally say put them all in the same prison. A supermax type thing America has. Arm the guards. 100,000 volt 20 foot tall fences. The only way out is to do your time. If you try escaping. Guards have orders to shoot on sight or let you get a wee zap from the fence. A zero bull shit prison. You'll get your rights back when you become a civilized human again who can act normal in society. Follow the rules, and you'll be fine. You'll only die if you try to escape. So don't try and escape. It's simple. Will point out. Cops etc in America have been 3 point holsters for guns. You have to do 3 steps in a certain order to get the gun out. Unless you're trained. You'll either won't know how to get it out, or it'll take you ages. At that point. You'll have multiple guards reminding you it's a bad idea to try to take the gun.

Jack Tame and TVNZ what a waste of tax payers money........ Exactly
It’s pretty clear that WP hasn’t thought through fairly basic numerical facts about his own policies. The reason you didn’t get answers (to the questions jack asked) was because WP couldn’t answer them! When he’s questioned and can’t answer he starts making accusations of fake news or saying Jack is incompetent and threatening him with defunding. I don’t see how that isn’t concerning? It’s literally the job of the media / journalists to make sure politicians are held accountable to their claims.
@@jpdenford1473I was just about to say the same thing. Jack is a sharp journalist. He does his homework and he sticks to his guns on the question until he gets a straight answer, or the politician slips and admits they don't have one. We need more like him imo..
Whilst I agree with many of your points I am still of the opinion that the manner in which the questioning was done, the tone of it was very disturbing. It is still possible to pursue truth without making that pursuit sound like the Inquisition. Disrespect towards other people, regardless of their position, politicians or not, whether you agree with their point of view or not, especially in a such a public forum, legitimises such conversation, particularly when accepted and condoned. It encourages others to behave like that in other areas of life too, get their way by shouting and atempting bullying tactics. I have seen political interviews in the past by tough, intelligent journalists, who did not give up the pursuit of answers when deflected by tactics of interviewees. They were persistent, did not let things slide or let the interviewee get away with not answering, but I have not witnessed this kind of approach which not only did not provide answers (whether due to Peters not being in possession of that information or due to his not being given the opportunity to explain why such estimates might be inaccurate.... ) but created a very unpleasant atmosphere. Re the throw away comment at the end by Peters, it was not a smart one and he realised it as soon as it passed his lips; but I suspect it arose out of sheer frustration of how the interview was conducted, not actually a promise of retaliation...
