Its not just sugar, its carbohydrates clogging up people's arteries causing heart attacks, strokes, blood clots etc. The lie that saturated fat causes heart disease has been exposed, its carbohydrates in the form of excess glucose that clogs up the arteries, loads of videos by leading edge Drs on this. The public needs to be educated on this. And stop giving people clot shots, that's not helping either.

There are not enough doctors! I am one who has moved to Australia, about 20% of NZ grads go to Australia, we don’t pay doctors enough, senior doctors are leaving, and we are so reliant on oversea doctors, but now they go to Australia cause the pay and working conditions are better. About 20-30% of overseas doctors I meet here worked in NZ got there qualification to work in NZ then leave to Aus. You can have all the nurses in the the world but Doctors drive patient care. The health system is crumbing a lot different to when I started as a doctor 15 years ago

There is no point having ED waiting time targets when hospitals are too small with not enough staff. You can't move patients if there is no where to move them to. If we had more GPs it would help eliminate ED times as well. And rest homes who have (laughable) hospital level care should be more accountable for actually looking after their patients instead of palming them off to EDs

What’s the penalty for not meeting these targets? Who pays - the public, already stretched health providers? How will that achieve anything?

Are people really that at the mercy of a law to decide if they will or won’t smoke. They are that passive in their decision making. The harm of smoking is so well known. It’s even literally displayed on the packaging. People will have seen the literal harm done to family or friends. Maybe some people just want to smoke. Is that not their free choice? Not the right choice but could say the exact same thing about alcohol, McDonald’s, KFC or Coca-Cola.
