- Five new countries have joined the BRICS group of developing nations. Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Ethiopia are the new members of the bloc first established to act as a counterweight to Western dominance. Srikanth Kondapalli from Jawaharlal Nehru University explains.
