Battle of Britain Class Tangmere 34067 The Dalesman on the 80th Anniversary D Day landings 06/06/24

Today was the first Dalesman of 24 with SR 34067 Tangmere in charge on the 80th Anniversary of the D Day landings . Today the tour started in york with a class 37/47 to Hellifield and steam to Carlisle and return .

34067 sounded a lot better approaching Settle than at Settle, where it was getting push from the diesel

I’m wondering how the empty Arcow hoppers managed to reverse into the sidings at Helwith Bridge only about 20 minutes before Tangmere passed …it must have been an amazingly swift operation, taking into account of the 15 minutes space between trains. I was on Settle Station and wish I was at Helwith Bridge!

Hi Timothy, I was at Helwith Bridge and filmed the reverse onto the spur which I’ve uploaded if you’re interested, from arriving at the quarry it took eight minutes and forty five seconds from receiving the token to reverse onto the spur.

I booked on the dalesman last yr. Not this yr while they are using nasty air cons.
