- The film starts at Nutfield on the Redhill to Tonbridge line. We then move to Folkestone Harbour to see the train arrive for the first of two trips along the 1in30 branch to the junction with the main line at Folkestone East. This is a repeat of last April's railtour which was supposed to have been the very last train to use the line. However, the redevelopment of the harbour area has been delayed so we have been given another chance to see Tangmere at work on this interesting little branch line. For information and times of steam railtours goto www.uksteam.info
Great clip. What memories of the 1950`s and 60`s.Thank you.
Regards Concretejockey.
Memories! I used to live by the Tram road in Folkestone, then it was Pannier Tanks. To think that for a century or more they used 4 little tankies because pacifics were too heavy for the swing bridge! Who was kidding who?
More - I used to spend whole Saturdays under Tangmere when she was shunted to the side of the shops at Ropley! Just cleaning off the clag and gunge!
i live in folkestone this branch is now dead like the racecourse all you have left sometimes are fond memories great video at least these engines from the past still beath
Nice to see the "duff" giving a shove up the rear so to speak! superb vid very enjoyable
Why is the guy on the platform at Nutfield signalling the driver to "create vacuum"?
Ahhhh! There's someone who knows what they're talking about. I always think the same thing😄
He's asking for a whistle.
- Pulling the overhead cord.
Great Show!!, Looks like the Line is doomed now...:(
The tangmere was in lancashire 8th april 09
I was a couple of 100m along the line furthur than you, at the foot crossing. Got blasted by a 375 shortly before hand as well!
70013 Oliver Cromwell is sheduled for an identical railtour on Saturday 14th March.
Nice one!
Isee the guy at the beginning didnt geta whistle.
Has the line been torn up yet?
+Trainbrain1949 Nope, just mothballed.
No matter what Folkestone Council try to do, the line still seems to survive against the odds. Its still in place waiting for another train....
Train Maniac Line is there though missing lots of bits, no juice flowing in the incredibly few bits of third rail left, lots of signals removed and any that remain are switched off. Etc. FOL s also in terrible nick though is slowly being restored, thankfully.
Yeah. They are focusing on the harbour at present. The developers have said that once the harbour is completed they will turn their attention to the line
What poor videography. 0:39 Why not follow the locomotive instead of turning the camera right slowly and showing nothing? 1:03 Nice bridge view does not even show the locomotive.
1:49 Well done! Failure to place camera in Manual Exposure makes engine darker and less details visible as more sky becomes in view.
Thanks very much!
