So you show all the space for the belt work but don't actually show the belt work. I would assume you meant smart splitters with overflow and then discard extra stuff into the sink.

The way I've got mine set up is a smart splitter sending the desired thing into the storage, undefined forward and overflow into a line of mergers opposite that all go into an sink. You can get it pretty compact. Another option would be programmable splitters sending groups of resources to places. I've got a storage bin at the front (it's all on one row for me) to dump my inventory stuff in and then behind that are where the items from the factory join into that splitter system. But, I only put small quantity high tier items through the main one. The rest come up to stacked splitters and mergers that go directly into the top feed of their storage tanks or regularly come out to sinks. You don't want say wires, plates, rods and concrete all going to the same sink. It gets a bit messy if you don't have space so give yourself plenty of room. Good luck. (also I have all of mine on a slightly lower level and going under glass platforms to see but that can be a bit blurry. Be creative)
In the world he played in update 3 he had item lifts bring stuff down from a logistics floor above his storage room, basically every item went to that floor and was sorted into the bins below
It's not just personal preference; beltwork will largely depend on where your production setups are in relation to your storage room. He could show you his beltwork, but it'd only be useful for his layout.
I've put smartsplitters behind the storagebins. So that when a bin is full, the other items are being rerouted to an awesomesink. More tickets! I'm now working on an auto sorting system that allows me to sort my leftover items to also go through the smartsplitters. So that I even waste less by not putting it in the awesomesink directly
@1:40 I would actually recommend adding an additional industrial storage container behind each of the ones shown here. (And therefore make the entire platform 4 tiles wider.) The reason is that I have found that, for large projects, I sometimes need a very large amount of one component - more than can fit in one industrial storage container. So, it's nice to have a buffer for each item, inside your storage room, so that the visible container refills almost instantly.
I do enjoy these types of games. Doing complex math to get just the perfect load balance is quite pleasing. Of course after every milestone I will have to redo everything to get the desired output
You remind me a lot of a youtuber for Space Engineers called Black Armor whose creativity and ingenuity is off the charts, but you're better because you're also hilarious. I enjoy you're builds.
How to fix spicy stuff problem...... build 100,000 drones and have them all try to drop off the spicy stuff at one port proceed to to fill them all with waste then delete there ports while there all in the air and boom fly waste away from you
Yep kind of surprised though 🤔 normaly kibbs tries to think about all possible issues that may come up....especially when it comes to the spice.....wonder if he made a small scale system first to test the various systems to make the spice.....tolerable lol
This isn't the video we deserve, but it is absolutely the video we needed! I've struggled with how many, how to orient, how to fill, without making a spaghetti mess of things. Wicked!
Tbh I'm pretty disappointed... your storage room looks very nice for sure Kibz ! But I thought you'd give your way of making all the beltwork to bring all the ressources in a nice efficient way... because I always end up either making the mother of all spaget coming from all over the map, or I use few belts, but spend a full work day loosing my mind by setting up 50 smart splitters. Actually, even outside of storage, for everything in the game, that's something I'd be very interested to see from you : How do you deal with beltwork ? Your favorite ways of managing the spaget, tips and tricks in that department. I know we can see kinda that in your regular videos, but mostly just glimpses of it, or just the finished product, would be nice seeing your mindset all the way through when dealing with massive spaget. And maybe you already did a video like this, and if so... well I take it all back ! Peace !
This video is great! Not sure I understand the griping about now showing beltwork or logistics. That would take a 3 hour video covering almost all the spicy, science-y aspects of what makes Satisfactory...Satisfactory. This is about just how to design a nice looking storage room...not how to design your entire megabase to build and deliver product. The video does exactly what it says on the tin. I need to get to this point. I have a 'storage room' of sorts, just not as pretty and organized as this. I'll get there. I'm 560 hours in...I have some room to grow hehe. Thanks Kibz!
Kibz, how do you decide what to break into satellite factories? (What determines if a particular product gets its own dedicated section? How to you decide what ingredients to make on-site and what to ship in from elsewhere?) I'm OK at keeping things relatively organized in the early/mid game, but everything turns into angry spaghet by the time I hit late game.
personally i make a storage room that sorts itself using smart splitters, so the whole factory produces for the storage room and the overflow from the storage room goes to the resource sink`s splitters right behind the storage boxes so no stopped lines and the factory runs at 100% all the time
How the heck did you get overflow to go somewhere else? I tried using Smart splitters for Constructors and all it did was break my entire facility as they got clogged up by a material that was used faster. Is there a way to get it to detect a full storage container??
my friend and i built a huge round automatic storage room for all items in the game, put items inside the input storage and it will automaticly go to the right storage container, the building also contains 50 power storages, power switches for the whole world and a statue area. There are power pillars all over the map where all the power lines will go on to the big base to all the switches to manage all of the power, behind it we have a huge train station and in front of it a whole bus station to bring all of the items, works pretty well! if the storage containers are full the items will be used to craft it to better items and but it into a sink after that for more points, all of it is automatic! of course the building also contains a bar food and the mam and stuff!
Move the storage back a little bit. - place a railing in front of the large storage. - place a garage door on the railing. - place a conveyor wall on top of the garage door. - place conveyor belt from top of large container to conveyor wall. You now have an easily accessible storage, secured off and a display above it.
Omg thank you soo much Kibitz!! I've been secretly trying to watch your older vids to see how you did this to recreate it, and came up with a few of my simple and ugly storage areas, but yours is a god send thanks soo much!!!
In Update 5, with soft clearance clipping, it looks like making those nice-looking belts should be much easier since they will be allowed to clip those 1m foundations
@3:10 I got a similar effect by: build the conveyor belt, delete the conveyor support, build a "down corner" foundation, build another "down corner" 180 degrees rotated. (The "down corner" and "up corner" have clipping disabled, so you can build them inside each other.) It's not quite as finicky to build, and you don't get those weird square holes from using walkway tiles.
I have something simillar at my base, but instead of a "to Awesome Sink" Bin i have a bin, where i can dump my inventory, which then sorts the stuff in all of the (~50) containers (so i also have a food container , a ammo container etc. (It also deals with automatically making solid biofuel, shards, fabric etc.) Another idea: Do the belting underneath, with a Glass-Pathway to show all the automatic sorting + some colored lighting for the vibe.
You didn’t show any of the logistics at all. You didn’t show connections, smart splitters, offloading, or how to connect your factories to it all, OR how to balance the inputs to keep the trains / trucks from overloading on one component that blocks other components from loading. Unless you plan on having a 16 car-long train and trainstop. All this video does is show aesthetics, which isn’t very helpful.
I know what you are saying, and a agree BUT there are better ways of wording, Text doesn't portray expression, other than serious, that's what emojis are for. SO let me rephrase it for you.... Aside from what the politeness police have to say, I agree. I was really hoping to have a technical tutorial on how to accomplish a difficult engineering task, and was disappointed to get a home decorating display.
As someone who just started playing I found it quite helpful actually. Got a few miners going with a few advance materials and I like the idea of having some organisation for what I've done. Part of the game is figuring out the rest and learning and I'll have fun doing it after I've got something setup that's more organised.
I'm having trouble with the ceiling, specifically the roof intersects with the top of the Awesome Sink and won't let me place foundations at the same height you appear to have them here
Having the same issue I suspect an update has changed the height requirements for the Awesome Sink which means you can no longer copy his roofing design (I think, not 100% sure)
Wait I checked and I think he actually did it by the use of the area mod for satisfactory where you can bulk build foundations, this allows you to bypass area restrictions, in other words you can build your foundation anywhere including right over the awesome sink when normally you are unable to
If you have good belts, you could use smart splitters on a high capacity conveyor belt to split things for storage into containers. you can add a sink for excess undefined rescources. Now you can dump your entire inventory into bins.
I,ve used a light version of the belt on my containers since day one and i'm glad to see it's actually a thing. I've always found it super useful to know what container was used for what at a glance
So glad you created this, I'm always being asked which video I was referring to on my "How to building a tidy Auto Sorter, Satisfactory" video, however, I had hoped you had connected it to you an auto sorter then it would have been the whole package 😀
Oh my lord, i love this guide! Tried a storage room by myself on my previous map and totally lost it xD started a whole new Map now, this really gonna help me, Thank you!
This was a perfectly timed tutorial because I just outgrew my early game storage room and now am having to run all over the place for mid to late game parts. So Building a new manufacturing hub will be great. Except I'm using the dispenser mod, so I'll be using those instead of the belt and container contraptions. I might even use programmable splitters to simplify the belt work and feed the awesomsink
If you really want fun, set up a giant droneport to request stuff and feed the material to a supply hub like this. Two droneport arrays of 4x4 on either side allow for 31 different items to be provided (#32 is for batteries for the drones)
Love watching Kibz's videos which try to grow the followers. I've been watching his let's play for a long time now, but everytime he makes one of thes styles of videos it's always reminds me of the reason I started watching in the first place!
Yesterday I finally finished my huge auto-sorting system. There are 8 zones (two floors with four quadrants) that each have 11 big containers for access. The containers are actually 4 deep, so in total there are 352 big containers for 88 different items. From behind the containers are fed via both ports and the items are selected with smart splitters. So with my current MK4 belts I can feed each zone with 960 items/minute. Each zone has a separate awesome sink to dispose items. There are three ways to feed items. You can access the zone directly so that the only sorting has to be done by the container's "personal" splitters. Or you can direct the feed to the quadrants where it is automatically separated to the floors with a programmable splitter. And then you have a single "f*ck-all lane" where you can just dump everything. The items are sorted to their corresponding quadrants and some items like leaves, wood and power slugs are sent to a processing area and the biomass and power shards are then fed back into the auto-sort lane. Equipment is filtered and directed to a container where I can pick it up again. Ah yes and I have embedded some conveyors in the storage floor for the possibility of transferring some items from one slot to another. Just open the floor, attach a merger and connect to the container with an item lift. Then go to the back side and reconfigure the smart splitters. Finally connect the hidden belt to the new quadrant in the re-routing station and wait for the transfer. I am very happy with the final result but that was the first time I actually felt an urge for procrastination inside a video game.
I woke up early on my day off because as soon as I woke up my brain started thinking about...exactly this. So your timing is perfect my friend. Do you split items for your storage room off from your main pipelines through to your subfactories, or is it its own little dedicated bit? Edit: If were doing requests itd be sweet to get an idea on the bit between "trains come in full of [items] and gets unloaded" and "sorted belts end up in [product] subfactory. you know, that whole "spooky magical part of sorting/combining/getting it all laid out unspagettically and ready for belting out to...." bit. coz man... my sorting floor looks like... nothing ive ever seen in my life.
this looks great. could you point me to any other video showing how the trains or trucks will conect to such storage in order to bring the materials stored to the constructions/assemblers plants? thanks
Super useful video. Would have liked some advice on the actual beltwork and organisation itself, but I guess that's partly down to "to each their own" and people's respective setups and factories etc
look amazin, me aas a noob thinking my setup is pretty well, lookig t this im like,, darnn thats a long road to go, thanks for the video it rteally looks nice!
Pretty cool. For me I would add space for chests for the Nuts and Berries I find for damage repair and a couple chests for Sumers Loops and Mercer Spheres. But mainly the Nuts and Berries
this was a great video but how do u do all the belt work behind the storage bins to get each part into the right bins, i know smart splitters are involved but i'm curious how u do it
Thanks, Kibbs. I have a question for you and or the other Satisfactory players: When you are building stuff and you seem to just highlight an existing item/object to make more of them, How do you do that? For whatever reason, I can't seem to figure it out. Maybe I am wrong and it's all stuff that that is in your Hotbar...IDK. TIA.
If you are in construction mode, middle mouse-click will cause the construction tool to change to building the item that was under your cursor when you middle-clicked. I often hit the 1 key to take me immediately into construction mode, then middle-click on the type of item I want to duplicate/build (for instance a smelter). Now my construction tool has Smelter as the item it will build.
Got a question. When do you get the large storage containers? I'm currently working on tiers 3 and 4, unlocking everything, but I don't see them. Do they come in at tiers 5 and 6?
@@aaaaaxc Yup, realized that as I unlocked tier 3 and 4. Currently working on tier 5 and 6 now. Good God, the materials involved. But, worth it. I'm now setting up oil production. We'll see how that goes.
Hey Kibz, just wanted to leave a game recommendation on the off chance you see this comment. Creeper World 4 sounds like a game you'd really enjoy. It has RTS, it has resource management, it has explosions, it has community maps and survival ones and a great campaign. And, i'd absolutely LOVE to watch you play it.
My question is, what's the point for storage? I presume you're not outputting from storage to use in factories. So is it just for picking up in your inventory and building things? I'm struggling knowing where to route items and how. My logistics don't feel as efficient and clean as they could be.
I love this design I have it in my base robbed from kibitz can’t go wrong. the mistake I made was only leaving one square not two. I also used the smart mod so I could build through conveyers. I didn’t know about the storage box stuff VERY cool
What I do is just leave the belts exposed so I can see the items go into the container and I always know what goes where. I also use catwalks to get over the belts.
Nice Video. helps give me ideas for Centralized Storage.. Could you possibly show us in your opinion good Conveyor mapping for the storage? my brain just can't seem to work that out, every time I try to do a centralized storage I fumble it hardcore as I go through the unlock Tiers. My current play through has a Central Storage that's super high up in the middle of the Desert with kind of a Slowly arching upwards conveyor track to the storage units.. but I can't seem to make it work properly :( Sorry for the Ramble! Love your videos!
I created A Satisfactory playlist on youtube and saved this URL. Please let me know if you ever create a new version in the event that Coffee Stain ever changes how this part of the game works.
That was great, Kibitz. Well done.
Just a tip to make things MUCH MORE easier and faster: use smart mod with disabled check for overlapping to spam walkways over prebuilt conveyors
5:42 had me rolling
miller piddles instead of middle pillars
The only thing that's bugging me: it seams like you can't access the sink to print the coupons
True, personally I very rarely go to grab coupons so it's not a big deal for me
Just place another door on the other side of trash bin where you can enter the back side
You can crouch slide through if you're super slick ;)
You can also use the conveyor pole trick to run belts flat across a floor and give you an additional level of belts.
Miller Piddles? Again? Love this!🤣🤣
ImKibitz is backkk
i thank you for your ideas...awesome builds...
safe me a lot of time
but i use the dispencers....love them
this looks great. could you point me to any other video showing how the trains or trucks will conect to such storage in order to bring the materials stored to the constructions/assemblers plants? thanks
The updated video on this room is going to be nuts when Update 5 comes out.
you can even make glass floors and make belts underground.
This is the content I crave!
Nice video. Make more like this :)
Super useful video. Would have liked some advice on the actual beltwork and organisation itself, but I guess that's partly down to "to each their own" and people's respective setups and factories etc
look amazin, me aas a noob thinking my setup is pretty well, lookig t this im like,, darnn thats a long road to go, thanks for the video it rteally looks nice!
you can place the conveyor supports lover down even when there a foundation there so you can do the same thing with normal foundations
Awesome video! I just started playing this game and I love it! I want to try making something like this sometime
Pretty cool. For me I would add space for chests for the Nuts and Berries I find for damage repair and a couple chests for Sumers Loops and Mercer Spheres. But mainly the Nuts and Berries
How to handle the belts and sorting, and ideas or recommendations on logistics for bringing in product from all over the map would really be helpful!
this was a great video but how do u do all the belt work behind the storage bins to get each part into the right bins, i know smart splitters are involved but i'm curious how u do it
5:05 It's super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Bummer, thought this would also include how the belts/sorting would work
Hey kibitz what mod did u use to have no cost for the foundation and the belts
You can do that with Pak Utilities and then enable Creative Mode.
here is a thought, it be nice to see an 0.8 map updated of this video since the worlds flow changed since 0.8 came out
Nice, I like it. I guess with signs in the game, now you no longer need to do all the fancy belt work, which is kind of nice!
You know the They are Billions community is awaiting your return...
@@TxThundr Awesome, Thank you.
Got a question. When do you get the large storage containers? I'm currently working on tiers 3 and 4, unlocking everything, but I don't see them.
Do they come in at tiers 5 and 6?
Tier 4 logistics mk2 or 3 with the steel
@@aaaaaxc Yup, realized that as I unlocked tier 3 and 4. Currently working on tier 5 and 6 now. Good God, the materials involved. But, worth it. I'm now setting up oil production. We'll see how that goes.
Wait how did you clip the awesome sink through the ceiling at 5:53?!
Nice video ! Do yo know how to do the same thing but with drones port.
How many ports do we need ?
Can we use 1 drone for X stuffs ? pleaaase
V good, thank you.
Hey kibz... when do you think your next video will be up to fix the spice dump??? I have been super excited to watch it.
Me: I've played for nearly 300 hours, I know what I'm doing.
Satisfactory TH-camrs: That's cute.
My question is, what's the point for storage? I presume you're not outputting from storage to use in factories. So is it just for picking up in your inventory and building things?
I'm struggling knowing where to route items and how. My logistics don't feel as efficient and clean as they could be.
nice design
Looking forward to an Update 5 update :)
My storage:
Step 1-Platform
Step 2-Add containers, and some space for belts in the back
Step 3-Add belt signs for materials
Step 4-Done
Wow that's pretty awesome I was wondering how you did that thing with the belts
But.. but.. we're getting Signs.. soon!
Tbh, i would've loved to see the beltwork you did for this.
Nontheless, Awesome Work!
I love this design I have it in my base robbed from kibitz can’t go wrong. the mistake I made was only leaving one square not two. I also used the smart mod so I could build through conveyers. I didn’t know about the storage box stuff VERY cool
Left out the only important bit. The belt work.
love your build where you put the hud at
What I do is just leave the belts exposed so I can see the items go into the container and I always know what goes where.
I’m not going to lie… that was the best intro I have heard in a while… from anyone
Kibitz world rn: dying cause of radiation
Kibitz: hello I’m gonna show how to build a storage sistem
UPDATE 5 - Definitely include Silica and Circuit Boards!
I was hoping for more nuclear Armageddon, but this is pretty cool too!
How do you connect the belt to the Awsome Sink without it clipping the wall?
Did you find a way?
nice video
Very cool thank
i do like your design, looks clean but im too used to my setup now lol
My favourite blocks are the millar piddles
I created A Satisfactory playlist on youtube and saved this URL. Please let me know if you ever create a new version in the event that Coffee Stain ever changes how this part of the game works. Thanks for making this. As we say on Coffee Stain's Jace stuff, 'Thanks, Jace. Helps a lot. Just replace Jace with your name. 😁👍
Is that "loop" map available? I did some light googling and was not successful.
part 2 belt work would be nice please. but nice set up
